I am a longtime patient of Dr. Horan through Harvard Vanguard Medical Associate’s Chestnut Hill site. As others have said, he has the best bedside manner I’ve seen! If you’re a Harvard Vanguard patient, he sees patients at HVMA’s Chestnut Hill site on Thursday mornings and he is also at their Medford site, though I don’t know his hours there. The Dermatology numbers are as follows: Chestnut Hill: 617−541−6350 Medford: 781−306−5300

I like Dr. Horan, I really do. After seeing him for nearly ten years, though, I found another doctor, specifically because the«nurses’s line» at that office is a bottomless pit. God forbid you need a question answered or something out of the ordinary done. I finally just got in the habit of making an appointment when a phone response should have sufficed. Only four times during the time he treated me did I need assistance from the nurses’s line and four times I was, frankly, ignored. Ultimately I left that practice altogether, just because of the nurses ‘s line.

My wife has a complicated medical condition and sees Dr Horan for both Dermatological and Immunological concerns(he sees patients at 850 Boylston St Chestnut Hill more for Immunology and 1400 Centre St Newton more for Dermatology). In all cases, he’s been absolutely fantastic. He’s the perfect combination of informative and comforting, and has been willing to help out in ways other doctors have not(for example answering emails and consulting with doctors on complicated medical questions on short notice). I would not hesitate in seeing him for any medical problems within his expertise and cannot say enough good things about him.

I’ve heard some people say, about dermatologists, that they can either burn, scrape, or prescribe a cream for whatever ails you… and that otherwise they’re pretty useless, sort of wallowing at the bottom of the proverbial pool, pulling in good salaries with the least amount of hours. Nothing could be further from the truth with Dr. Horan. He’s dual certified in Immunology and Dermatology and his dedication to the craft of medicine and his patients is the very first thing you will notice about him. He has one of the best bedside manners I have ever encountered… the brilliance of a researcher and the ability to make you feel like everything is ok. He’s so awesome he’s gone up to bat to find answers out for me regarding medical procedures that don’t involve him(long story short I had had a CT Scan that no one would explain some weird results on, and when I saw him last, he actually called B&Ws radiology dept to get to the bottom of everything and provide answers I’d been seeking for two weeks) I hate to speak in superlatives, but he is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He’s amazing.
