Pinot’s Palette – Chesterfield

The best date night or girls night out place around. The teachers are all excellent, encouraging and friendly. I’ve now been a total of 3 times and I have all of my work hanging on the walls like I’m a pro! haha.
They do put the pictures on the website, so you can pick which class you would like to attend and the best part of painting is that they walk you through all of it! Everyone’s art is unique to them, but overall similar to the teacher.

If you haven’t been here before, it’s a paint and sip studio. The provide all of the painting supplies (including lessons for those of us who’s artwork hasn’t improved since kindergarten) and you provide the wine and snacks. They have some drinks for purchase as well, but I personally prefer picking out what I like. Best of all, there is a Trader Joe’s right next to Pinot’s Palette if you want to stop by before and pick up a few things.
One of the best paint lessons we’ve been to in ages! So, I dreaded coming here — mostly because of my lack of artistic capabilities. But, I promised a friend I would try this out with her. What can I say if I can have some wine you could probably sign me up to try a lot of new, scary things.
But let me assure you, they do a great job at teaching and coaching you through these gorgeous paintings. I cannot believe how great our pieces turned out. We were probably beaming like little five year olds when they bring home their first art project. They do a great job catering to all levels and you’ll be pleased with their flexibility. My favorite part? They can turn almost any errors into masterpieces. I cannot describe the number of crazy crooked lines I painted. Yet, one of the amazing instructors helped me cover it up and made it look more like what I had hoped for.
All in all, this is a great place for a fun evening out. I highly recommend it for girls night out and even mom-​daughter nights. Definitely one of the best places I’ve been to in a long time.

I went and I was expecting something boring. I went out expecting to be frustrated with my lack of artistic skills. I wasn’t on both counts! It was truly an amazing time! The SO was kicking himself for not going with his friends sooner. I can’t wait to go back and paint another one!

This was my first wine and painting event and I had a lot of fun! I was happy with the painting (Spring Path) that was chosen, which was one of my biggest concerns. I do have some experience painting with acrylic, but anyone can do this! They show you step by step how to create your masterpiece. The best part is that you don’t have to clean up when it’s over! Also a fun playlist is played to inspire you.
I would have liked a bit more time, 30 minutes perhaps, but I’m kinda a perfectionist with crafty things, so it may just have been me. Would have liked to have my wine chilled. There was beer on ice, so would have liked wine chilled also.

I did this for my wife and I, as a Valentine’s Day date night. I’d been a little concerned that I might be the only male, but the group of us (students) were an interesting mix of couples of different ages, small groups of gal pals, and even a few singles. The girls running this Chesterfield location were fantastic, and our teacher (Kylie) was smart and talented and entertaining as she taught us all a little about painting a picture and got us all to relax while we did it, so the overall experience was both fun and funny. My wife LOVED our «unusual» date night, she says I’m the World’s Best Husband, and she knows all the women she works with are going to be sooooo envious! (And those women’s husbands will suffer by comparison, an added bonus!!)

Unfriendly staff, don’t paint where everyone can see what they’re doing, and doesn’t allow alcohol on «family days» which they don’t disclose up front.

We had a great date night painting and drinking wine. The owner was friendly though quiet. She had the best job, pouring the wine and beverages. The two artists were kind and very helpful and they took us through the painting step by step and did so at a good pace. They did allow my wife, a more artistic soul, have some freedom in her painting but guided me, a guy who messes up stick figures, and made the painting part rather easy. It was enjoyable and worth doing again.
My only suggestion for improvement is to offer a little bit of food with the wine, cheeses, chips and dip, something snacky for the munchies that come with wine and creative thinking.

As someone who is not very artfully inclined, was somewhat reluctant in coming here. However, I found my fears were unfounded. The class was a lot of fun, instructors were great and my painting even came out half decent. Definitely recommend giving it a try regardless of your art level.

I had a fabulous time here, and quite honestly, I did not really want to go. This is one of those types of places that I thought might be a bit hokey, not to mention I figured I would produce something that could only seriously adorn the inside of a dumpster. To my delight I arrived and there was a very warm welcome and a full glass of wine waiting upon my arrival!
The painting we did that night was a fun, colorful, almost psychedelic image of a wine bottle and glass. Fitting for the occasion, I suppose. The nice ladies that walked us through the step by step process of recreating the original were very helpful. Consider coming here when you need to get a self esteem boost. People will walk around and compliment your work and encourage your inner artist to thrive. They will tell you things like, «that’s perfect, leave it exactly as it is right now,» or «I love how you did „x“…» They were so genuine about their compliments, so it really perks you up. And although I did not leave with gallery quality work, I do have something to hang up in my wine cellar now.
I recommend. It would be fun for girls’ nights, family time, kids parties and the list goes on. :)

The last time I painted was maybe 5^th grade art class so I was a little nervous about how it would go. The instructors get you all set up with an easel, canvas, paint, brushes, towels, and water. You grab a drink and maybe a snack and start painting! They made it easy to follow along and had a completed example and an example in progress. I loved seeing how everyone’s painting was different and unique even though you’re doing the «same» painting. I will definitely be back for another visit!

It’s been 16 years since I painted anything besides a wall or my fingernails, and back then my teachers didn’t allow us to paint wine bottle, much less drink any beverages near where we were working. It seems that art is more fun when one may eat, drink, and socialize, and when no grades are given. Pinot’s Palette is far superior to 6^th grade art class. All I had to do to prepare was wear clothes that needed a little paint.
I attended a painting event at Pinot’s Palette last night. What a great opportunity to socialize and create! Everything was set up before I arrived. I only had to grab my food, beverage, and throw on an apron. The instructions given are clear, and unlike my art teachers, these wonderful instructors seem to realize that everyone will do things a little differently based on their personal comfort zones. I appreciated the lack of judgment and a couple of helpful tips.
The completed paintings were all so different! The variety in the wine glasses especially surprised me. I didn’t have to clean up when it was over, either. My masterpiece was placed on paper to protect my car from the paint. Yes, they think of everything.
I am surprised how much I like my painting. I have placed it near my wine rack. I will be back. :)

These wine & paint places keep popping up all over St. Louis and thanks to Living Social, I was super excited to try with my friends.
The calendars are online of what each class will paint. They are up a month at a time, and usually by the middle of the current month they will post the next month’s schedule. This is where it becomes hard because you just don’t know what you’re going to be in the mood to paint. Once you figure out what night, you make your reservation online and you are good to go.
You can bring your own food and drinks to the class. If you bring your own wine, there is a $ 4 corking fee or you can purchase your alcohol from the friendly bartender at the back of the place. They ask that you arrive early enough to enjoy some snacks and get yourself situated.
Once you arrive, you check in and they direct you to where you will be sitting, where you will find your easel already set up and your name written fancy below it. Depending on class size depends on how much space you have — our class was quite full so we were almost on top of each other. The tables are placed horizontally compared to where the instructor is, so depending on where you are sitting you may have to turn a lot to see. They need to switch them so we all can face forward towards the main wall. At your place you will already see your brushes and paint waiting for class to start.
The instructor will walk you through each step. Keep in mind that everyone’s painting ability is different so your painting will not match the others nor will it be just like the one the instructor paints. They have assistant walking around to help you if you can’t get your bend in the road just right or if you run out of paint. They usually give the instruction, then turn music on while you complete the task and they are walking around to see how you are doing.
You will break in the middle to refuel and let the main paint part dry.
The classes are about 3 hours long and you will leave with a masterpiece to call your own. My sister and friend and I had a blast and we hope to try it again in the future. Just a heads up — wear clothing that if you get paint on, you won’t care because if it dries its a lot harder to get out of.

I’ve never had more fun at a class I was truly not looking forward to.
My cousin had been wanting to try a class at PP’s for basically an eternity, and for some reason I just wasn’t that into the idea. The thought of sitting in a chair for three hours while painting sounded like a bit of a snoozer, but I jumped on board since she wanted to go so badly. Needless to say, I’m glad I did.
We picked up a bottle of wine and snacks from Trader Joe’s that’s in the same plaza. You can bring your own food and drinks here! If you give your wine to the bartender Phil (we called him «fill it up Phil»), he’ll pour it for you. They do have a $ 4 fee for that which I found kind of silly considering the class was $ 45, but that’s alright. I was also surprised to see that there were only about ten people in the class — way less than I expected! It made it so much more intimate.
Our instructor, Elizabeth, was patient and made the class fun for everyone. We started with making a horizon line on a blank canvas, and from there, we created our masterpieces. She took us step-​by-​step, and I was amazed at how easy it actually was. If you have fears when it comes to painting, they’ll all disappear while taking class here. We took a few 15 minutes breaks to grab food and fill up on wine, so it was a good mix of talking, relaxing, and painting.
Three hours later I left with a pretty cool painting, and I can truthfully say that I’m excited to go back soon. It’s amazing how fun it can be when you open yourself up to new experiences!
