I was nervous when I first walked in and saw sign that said experienced cooking experience waitress needed. It was simply a harbinger of things to come. The owner was mean to a waitress named Linda. Raised his voice and scolded her in front of the customers about delivering a ticket to him at the register. I do not like a bully. The food? Potatoes were leftover from previous day. Gross. The omelet was disgusting. There is a Waffle House across the street. Try there. This waffle world won best breakfast in this area seven years ago. Umm, it must have been when the owner was nicer.

Nice little mom and pop place. I like to support these rather than the chains. Place was pretty clean and our waitress was super nice and responsive! Sorry others had a poor experience with their waitresses. It really seemed like a family atmosphere. Pretty average breakfast food. But that’s not a bad thing. There is A LOT of items to choose from… more than it’s competitor across the street. Price was good and I will be going back :-)

Food and price were amazing. Service was terrible. Coffee got served in a dirty mug and we had to ask another waitress for a refill… twice(the first time we asked, she just pointed at our main waitress cashing out some of the customers at the register and told us she’d get it). Lastly, they charge a 3% up charge for using a credit card. Again, the only competent staff was the cook and I hope he finds better employment.

Everything was good about the place. There wasn’t anything that made me say WOW but if you want good food and good service check it out.

Today was my second day eating breakfast here. First time I had the basic a la carte items. Eggs, bacon, toast, oatmeal. I was satisfied. Like cooking at home, only not at home, and someone cooking it for you. Today, I decided to go with something off the entrée menu, The Mexicali frittata. I expected frittata, not overly scrambled and visually unappealing mush. Barely edible, as I forced myself to complete it, till the last few bites. The wheat toast was the highlight of the meal. I don’t need much attention or assistance from servers when in for breakfast. Just what I ordered and no refills on my water. The server was attentive enough. I’d go back for breakfast, assuming it’s more convenient than cooking my own. However, would stick with the a la carte choices I made my first visit.

I truly was looking forward to eating here. We eat at waffle house almost every other week. One day I looked out of the window and noticed waffle world and my better half and I made a promise to visit them the next time we went out for breakfast which happened to be today. The restaurant itself is very dated. The carpet could stand to be replaced and the fixtures updated however it was very clean inside. We were greeted by an elderly gentleman and was told to sit anywhere we wanted. After grabbing our seats a few mins later we had our drink orders taken. FOOD: I ordered the fruit pancakes with blueberries, two eggs scrambled with cheese and a side of buttered grits with sausage patties. Husband ordered the French toast, biscuit and gravy sample, side eggs and bacon. The pancakes were good but I was disappointed that fresh blueberries weren’t used and instead I got that mushy blueberry sauce crap from a jar. Unfortunately it makes it a little too sweet. Husband said he did not like his French toast at all and noted that it had no flavor. Eggs were ok and the meat… well…nothing to write home about. He additionally remarked that he did not care for the biscuit and gravy saying that they just tasted off. SERVICE: Waitress was clearly busy and seemed to be overloaded. She kept having to go back to the window to retrieve forgotten items. The kitchen staff and the waiters/waitresses need to be more on sync, because there were times that she said she asked for something and the kitchen staff was like, oh ok didn’t hear you(we were sat pretty much next to the receiving window). However, although busy, she was very friendly and very accommodating(grabbing items like syrup, ketchup, etc). OVERALL: Overall, We probably won’t be back. My husband said he definitely wasn’t going back there, and I can’t really find it in me to take family or friends here when the experience wasn’t that great. Also, the price of the meal came to $ 35. Much more than I was willing to pay for this meal, because honestly I do not think it was all worth that price. Though the service was friendly, it ultimately was the food that helps aid in my decision to not come back.

Had a late breakfast here today. Was pleased that breakfast was available at 1:30 pm. Chose biscuits and gravy. The meal was average although the biscuits were small and the gravy was a bit greasy. Will try waffle or I’m at the next time I go. Service was okay and the meal was brought out quickly. Will give it one more time, just cause.

I recently spent a week in the Chesapeake/Portsmouth area. My Dad told me that he had been having breakfast here for some time. If my Dad likes the food so should I. Well, we had breakfast here almost everyday that I was in town. The food is cooked just the way your mom might have made it. This is a quaint, old school style restaurant. The staff is very nice, and the food is great. Stop in for breakfast one day and try it for yourself.
