Residence Inn Chesapeake Greenbrier

I’ve stayed at this particular hotel 15+ times easily since Christmas 2014. Everyone is always friendly regardless of the time of day. The rooms are generous in size and consist of comfy beds and bedding. The bathrooms are moderate in size (depending on which end of the hall you’re on) but the water pressure is exquisite! Breakfast isn’t typical at all. They have boiled and scrambled (powdered) eggs, bacon, sausage, onions, tomato, corned beef hash, muffins, toast, fresh fruit, coffee, milk, etc.
The pool and Jacuzzi are are really nice and don’t kill your nostrils with that excess chlorine smell as soon as you hit the door.
The only things I’d recommend are having a full set of cookware per room to better accommodate families. And more centrally located parking spaces for guests who get back from shopping, dinner, or work later than others.
All in all, I love his hotel and it’s sweet staff. I look forward to returning.

We (husband, two daughters and I) have stayed in this hotel for the entire summer while our house is being built. We stayed here as a part of a relocation package. The location is convenient.
Things that are great:
**Marcus at the front desk — great customer service and he knows folks by name.
**The staff that works the breakfast bar and the happy hour/​dinners a few times per week. Very friendly and cheerful.
**the happy hours, they serve a quick meal twice a week. Tacos, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, salads, $ 1 beer or wine.
**we have a one bedroom suite and it has enough room for us 4. It’s the size of an efficiency with the added bedroom.
**rooms are updated.
**we also have two cats and they accommodate for a fee.
**free wifi.
Things that are NOT great
I work from home most days and I am on conference calls all day.
**HOUSEKEEPING is not great.
— – first they are all deathly afraid of cats! Really??? It’s just an excuse not to clean the rooms.
— – they do not have a routine. Of course they clean check out rooms first however they have come at 11, 1, 2, 3:00 there is no“window”. They will not come in your room unless the cats are put up. That means chasing down two cats that hate their carrier or locking them up in the bathroom just so the housekeeper will enter the room. So the minute they know on the door, the cats hide under the bed… which means I do not get service.
— — so I have asked repeatedly for a time frame so I can secure the cats ahead of time when they are not freaked out by the house keeping staff knocking on the door. Request never met.
— — I have called several time to request service in a specific hour window because of my conference calls. Never met.
— — when they knock on the door and I open the door, I get «do you need service today» ummmm yes I do. Smh. Then they ask «what do you need» really???
— – I have been actively talking on a conference call while the house keeper is servicing the room and they turn on the vacuum. They repeatedly run the dishwasher even when I have a sign that says the dishwasher is clean because I ran it when I left the room.
—any excuse they can find not to clean a room, they find it and then they ask you to sign a form if they can’t.
–requested the housekeeping manager to call me but never heard from her.
**laundry facilities are clean and readily available, however the dryer runs for 30 minutes for $ 1.50. Clothes really need 40 minutes to completely dry. So you end up paying another $ 1.50 to grit one load dry.
**the indoor pool is dingy and doesn’t appear to be cleaned that often. There is crud on the sides of the wall.
I will never stay at this facility again and I would not recommend it for long stays if you have pets. I wouldn’t want the housekeeping staff to be afraid of my terrifying cats. I’m sure they are heart broken not to do their job effectively. Again, it’s all about them, not the customer.

What a nice gem. On top of the full kitchen, it’s very clean and well maintained. My stay also comes w complimentary breakfast. :)
Breakfast is good. Scrambled eggs, breakfast sausages, fresh mad waffles and more.
All the staff is also very nice. Probably the nicest hotel staff I’ve ever come across.

Let me start off by saying that I’ve never posted a negative review online before. This experience was pretty bad and I’m posting this so others don’t get taken advantage of here. We booked a 1BR at this hotel and when we arrived, the manager moved us to a studio because they were «over-​sold». They acted like this was very routine for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens all of the time. It’s like ordering a pair of Nikes and getting a pair of used Converse in the mail. In what world is that okay? We asked to speak to a manger named Sarah four different times and she literally avoided us every single time. We were told that she would call us back and she never did. We called corporate twice and no one cared.
If these employees had their paycheck a correlated with customer satisfaction, they would go broke.
I’m so disappointed in Marriott!

I stayed here for a week for work and it was great.
I was traveling throughout the area and thought the location was pretty central to everywhere I needed to be (Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Yorktown, Hampton). There were lots of restaurants, a mall, Target, Total Wine, and Wal-​Mart close by, so if you forgot anything there were plenty of places to pick it up.
My room was clean and I liked the layout (I know they’re all basically the same but the kitchen was open into the living area of my 2 bedroom. Also you can see the Living Room TV from one of the toilets! Winning! In the lobby they had a few areas to sit and lounge in, which was nice. I even saw a pool table and a patio that would be nice in warmer weather.
They’re renovating the hotel now – not taking down walls but redecorating, and I think the new look will be great. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was big, evening snack/​dinner was Monday-​Wednesday and was a little small compared to other Residence Inn weeknight food spreads I’ve experienced. There weren’t a lot of people taking advantage of it, though, so maybe they don’t have the demand to warrant something big. Or vice versa. I was going out with coworkers most nights so that didn’t affect my plans.
I would stay here again if I were traveling to the area.

This is a great hotel especially for extended stay. I have stayed here on several occasions for over a week each time and in the Greenbrier area this is definitely the place to stay. The staff is super helpful, the breakfast in the morning is good and they even do light food at night during the week. No complaints!

We stayed at the Residence Inn only one night as a break in between a long trip and overall there is not much to complain about the hotel. The rooms were clean, the person at the front desk was always friendly, and breakfast, and the food was ok for a hotel breakfast.
There are plenty of places to eat nearby and Virginia Beach is not that far away.
If I needed to stay in Chesapeake again for any reason I would stay in the Residence Inn.

If you are in town for business/​pleasure and wanted to stay away from crowded downtown Norfolk but stay within distance from shopping centers and restaurants, this is the place to be. There are literally 6 – 8 different hotels within 0.2 mile radius, so if you’re a Hilton fan, you can choose that option. I’m sure the rates are pretty much the same.
What I like about Residence Inn is they offer FREE breakfast AND dinner on weekdays. For a person on a business trip and gets per-​diem, that’s money saved and money to your pocket for something else. The breakfast is solid, but the dinner is iffy, so if you prefer a nice meal and don’t care about saving $ 18, you can explore your options nearby.
What I don’t like about this Residence Inn is that you can’t enter the parking from left-​turn. You will have to make U-​Turn little further ahead and MUST make right-​turn to enter the building. It’s probably nothing and no deal-​breaker, but I find it annoying by day 3.

I arrived with my family back in late June 2009. The front desk service was friendly but just a little slow. Our room had two beds, kitchen and seating area. We stayed one night and didn’t have any problems. We also took advantage of the breakfast – luckily it wasn’t a rat-​race like those services usually are. It was a little picked over but the hotel staff was doing a fairly good job keeping it stocked. If not, there are a few places close by where you can get food. I’m planning to stay when I leave the local area.

Clean, within proximity of shopping/​dining areas and Norfolk Airport (ORF), and quiet. Complimentary high speed internet access in rooms. Has a business center where you can print boarding passes for free. Complimentary hot breakfast. Easy check-​in/​check-​out and friendly staff. Exercise equipment is limited, however– 1 stair climber, 1 bike, 2 treadmills, and weights. Small indoor pool and 1 whirlpool. We had a wonderful stay.
