I just ordered sum pizza slices from Pizza Vera and they looked horrible the pizza was under cooked look sloopy, ingredients did not look fresh and the meat lovers only had a few slices of pepperoni, also the pizza was way too thin, that my boyfriend asked me if I ordered them in thin crust … the cheese slice hardly even had any cheese on it and was hard to chew … the worst pizza I have had since I’ve been in chesapeake, virginia I will never order from them again!!!

Pizza Vera has great tasting NY style pizza. The only thing I don’t like about their pizza is how quickly it gets cold. I usually go and pick it up myself when I order from them. I live less than a half mile away. In the time it takes me to drive home with my pizza, it is always barely lukewarm by the time I get home. We’re talking 5 mins tops. I don’t understand it. They do have great garlic knots though!

We stopped in here for lunch on Friday and had an excellent meal. It was about quarter to 2pm and we had missed the lunch rush. The owner was behind the counter and we had a funny conversation with him about pizza and the munchies. I ordered a #2 combo and my co-worker ordered the #3 combo. Slices appeared out at the table about 5 minutes later and the pizza was spot on. Just delicious! We enjoyed our meal, kicked back and shot the breeze for a few and were on our way. Perfect!

In my opinion the best NY style pizza in the area and definitely the best garlic knots. We’ve been going there for years. The food is always great. The owners not only recognize us and make us feel welcome when we come in, but they know exactly what we order. The perfect little local pizza joint.

Pleasnatly surpirsed. This is pretty good pizza. I really liked their thin crust. We orderer jalapeño poppers and they were good not great. The delivery guy was beyond friendly. The only drawback was the temperature of the food. We were not too far from Battlefield yet the food, even the poppers were luke warm. Not sure if we were the last stop, but it took a bit from the food as I could tell it was good but cold.

Awesome thin crust pizza. I could eat here all the time. They also make awesome garlic knots. Family owned very friendly.

The pizza’s good, on Hampton Roads standards. The pasta’s not, even on hamburger helper standards. The place looks terrible, I guess that makes it NY authentic. I wish it was a bit cheaper, or had more variation with the slices to go.

I went to this pizza place with Nino R. on 12/29/2009 and had some pizza along with his sis. The deal that I got was 2 slices of one topping(my pref was for pepperoni) and a drink for $ 6(including tax). Not a bad pizza. Had all of the characteristics of a typical NY style pizza. It was thin, foldable, and even had a nice thin layer of oil which gave it a nice sheen and authentic look. It’s a no frills pizza from a no frills pizza shop. The place seats about 20 people respectfully and has about a handful of items posted on the wall which try to establish a NY metropolitan feel(a metro bus route, and photos of the NY skyline and Times Square from what I remember). The taste of the pizza was ok. I’ve had pizza at other places in the Tidewater area. Sal’s Pizzeria in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Italian Café in Virginia Beach as well. The reason I gave this place 2 stars is that so far Sal’s has a deal for 2 one topping pizzas and a drink for $ 5 and the pizza is slightly better in taste and texture. Other than that it is what it is a meal to be had between friends at a reasonable price.

Pizza Vera is on par with La Bella Napoli in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. If you’re unfamiliar, please peruse my review. I was impressed with the texture and finish of the pizza, so much so I ordered two additional cheese slices. So why only 3 stars? Because the daily special at Del Vecchio’s is better. For $ 4.50 you can enjoy 2 cheese slices with a large soda. Coke products are proudly served here. Seating is not sparse and there is room for a large party. My only gripe with the dining room is that the heat from the windows follow you throughout the restaurant. Restrooms are located in the rear of the restaurant. As far as the pizza goes, the crust is not chewy, the sauce and cheese are very mild. The pie is crispy and the size of the slice is more than adequate. Had I not discovered Del Vecchio’s a day prior I would have thought that this is the closest to NY-style pizza in the area. I would definitely come here again. You’ve got a friend…
