Somewhere between Modern rock and Classic rock, FM99 has found its niche in the radio market. A staple of Virginia Beach radio, the morning show’s Tommy and Rumble(now just Tommy I guess after Rick Rumble’s sudden departure) always have a bit or two that will make you giggle. Sometimes the discussions and callers seem to slant toward the blue collar conservative realm(disturbing for this liberal) but it’s a military town so what do you expect. The music is a nice spectrum of classic and modern rock ranging from Led Zeppelin to the Nickelback. It’s not too hard, not too avant garde and not too classic. My one complaint is that they focus so much on 80s hair bands. Why? I have no idea why a radio station would make its niche in the most widely agreed upon worse era in music.
