Chatham Bars Inn

This is a tradition for my husband and I at Valentines to hang at the spa. love the spa suites, large rooms with sauna, steam shower, large tub.
The spa services are also amazing. Please consider opening the heated pool for spa quests that would make it a 10. We love CBI!!!

From the Sferra throw on the bed to the giant TV that swings out from the wall to the super-​fast room service and the late night valet that drove us to town for snacks after a wedding… I love CBI. The service was top-​notch, the food was phenomenal. We brought our dog and they spoiled him with treats and a plush dog bed. I am extremely picky with hotels and have switched hotels when travelling if they’re not up to «par» and CBI is totally 5 star. Would love to go back.

Came here with some friends for a weekend retreat, did not stay here, only visited the spa and restaurant. Firstly I’d say the spa services cost at least twice what you might find anywhere else. The facility is lovely, wonderful steam showers, etc but the actual treatments were about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. My facial was «ok», nothing spectacular. My 30 min massage felt quite hurried (yes maybe I should have booked the 60 min) and unsatisfying. Overall the staff were nice enough but once I got the bill I realized I won’t be back.

I love it here. We had our wedding in January. The staff were all amazing! We are now back for a weekend before we have a baby and equally as happy. The staff go out of their and way to make you feel special.
We have had both lunch and dinner at the Sacred Cod and it is delicious (their rolls and butter are one of my favorite things!). The dinner in Stars, with the meat cart, is top notch (we go to a lot of steakhouses in Boston and Stars definitely competes). And the spa is lovely.
I would highly recommend CBI for anything — a wedding, a weekend away, a spa day, or just a nice dinner out. They treat every guest well!

Beautiful rooms, grounds impeccable, you call for a ride to town? We were picked up in a BMW. If you want to walk, it’s only ten minutes. Great peaceful getaway. (They also have multiple places to dine, clam bake, private beach and more!)

Lovely tranquil retreat on the ocean of the Cape. A friend and I set out for a Nantucket day trip and after missing our ferry… then the next ferry… we ended up having a lovely day on Cape Cod. Chatham Bars Inn was suggested to us by the woman working at Steamship Authority and we plugged it into the gps and we were off…
We were not disappointed! A fantastic lunch, followed by some beach cacoon (check out the pics on their website) and cocktails at the beach/​pool bar and it was a perfect side trip.

Swoon. I was apprehensive to visit for lunch as I figured it would be over priced and terrible food, boy was I wrong! Amazing views from every table, the menu was small but offered a lot of variety, service was fantastic, venue beautiful and prices reasonable. Definitely try the calamari. It is a large serving, we split it three ways but it could have been split with six. Swordfish was fresh off the boat and veggies just delicious. We cannot wait to go back!
Lunch was casual.

Worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. This is the first time I’ve ever left hungry. I’m glad i can go home and have some actual sustenance. 3 lobster tacos the size of my thumb does not constitute a meal. Don’t come and eat here unless you are full.

I came here on a Saturday evening with my friend and her mom for drinks and apps.
I’d recommend coming here just because the place is very stunning. However, try to sit on the veranda. We sat on the side patio, which is further from the veranda and ultimately the kitchen, so the service was not good and super super slow.
OVERVIEW:
–Very beautiful place with great views.
–Upscale beach vibe. Definitely dress nicely.
–Come with friends, family, or a date.
SMALL PLATES:
*We shared a few small bites instead of each getting our own entrees.
–Goat cheese, peach flat bread pizza with arugula: this was delish! I recommend getting this to share.
–Tomato and mozz with balsamic: this was good, but nothing special. I’ve had fresher tasting tomatoes and mozz too (not that it didn’t taste fresh!). It just felt like I could easily prep this myself: grape tomatoes and mozz balls in a bowl — not presented in any special kind of way.
–Cheese and Crackers: this came with 4 different types of cheeses with figs, a jam, grapes, and crackers. This was good and a solid app if you are wanting a bit of cheese.
DRINKS:
–Old Fashioned: Not a good Old Fashioned, in my opinion. They muddle the fruit and cherries and it was just a bit messy for me. They masked the flavor of the whiskey with the fruit, which is never a good thing. No muddling of fruits please!
SERVICE:
–So slow. We had to ask for nuts (because we were hungry!) 3 times! I think the patio area is just a bad place to sit if you want fast service. Definitely wait for a seat on the veranda if you can.

So far mixed reviews. Pool very crowded no seats. Food and beverage only good when the «adults» are supervising and today my bedroom for $ 700 per night didn’t get cleaned. Parents promised check in at 12noon and not even close — 4pm and the front desk says «Hey what can I tell you dear, people aren’t leaving their rooms on time.»

This review is for the beach house grill. We could never afford to stay at the inn!
This place isn’t cheap, but you are paying for a wonderful view of the beach and a quintessential Cape Cod-​feel. We just had the lobster nachos and they were so delicious! Enough for 3 people for lunch, so it’s actually a steal. You get a mountain of chips served with guac and sour cream, topped with pickled jalapeños, cheese and chili, and packed with lobster! The lobster is very thoroughly incorporated, so don’t worry about running out. I was also surprised at how flavorful it was despite the lack of salsa.

The Veranda at the Chatham Bars Inn is the perfect spot to grab an after dinner drink or lunch on an over cast day after shopping in downtown Chatham, which is exactly what I did this weekend.
Saturday night I went to the Chatham Bars Inn for a drink and it was last call outside on the Veranda (around 10:30). You were still able to sit outside after that, but you had to order drinks inside. There are around 12 large round tables that look out at the ocean and one lower table with a couch and arm chair. We opted to sit at the later.
It was a chilly night and just inside the hotel they had a cart of blankets, which was a nice touch.
The next day was overcast, so after shopping in downtown Chatham early, we decided to go back to the Veranda for lunch, so we could actually see the spectacular view! I would suggest going around 12:30 or earlier for lunch if you want to pick your table and not wait.
The grilled cheese hit the spot on a cool day although the tomato soup was more of a marinara dipping sauce than a tomato soup ($ 15). The sangria was the best I have had ($ 14).
If you’re looking for a scenic spot or something to do on a rainy day, this is it! There is much more going on at the Chatham Bars than the Veranda. I hope to check out the Beach House there soon!

The best Lobster Caesar salad Ever! North Beach makes staying at the Chatham Bars Inn worth the money. Delicious dinner buffet on the outside patio.

My family and I have been going to Chatham Bars Inn since I was a little girl. We have absolutely loved it there. We stayed in the cottages until the year I turned 16, and we now stay in the main inn. The staff are amazing, friendly, and accommodating! The rooms are clean, and my sister and I LOVE the beds! It is also only a short walk from downtown Chatham, which my family takes full advantage of. There are two restaurants within the hotel and both are amazingly good! The Sacred Cod is more casual, while Stars, located in the main dining room, is more formal. On top of all that, across the street from the main hotel is a pool, another restaurant and the beach! Best Vacation Destination EVER!

Had a terrible issue at the Beach Bar with service on Sunday the 5^th of July. We were able to get a high top table outside that had just been used by a group of people. As it was starting to get crowded we stood by the table so that we could sit down once it got cleared off. After a few minutes no waitstaff had come by, so we actually had to clear the table off ourselves on to a nearby bannister. A few minutes later when a member of the waitstaff walked by we asked that the table get wiped down and he told us he’d send someone right over. No staff ever came by again, and we had to order all drinks at the bar and bring them to our seats. Not the end of the world, but not the level of service you should expect when a place charges $ 15 for a drink either.

Our chatham bars experience started 2 days before the stay with a call from concierge saying «sorry but you cant use the dinning room due to a wedding and business gathering» 2 days?! thanks for the head up cbi.
We were «upgraded» to a small cottage called «ocean spray» this week April23 & 24^th, that had a ocien view. We were looking for a relaxing time on the capefor a couple of days.
It was not as relaxing due to the construction that was going on. We had 4 landscape trucks with trailers parked in the driveway, bobcat going all day, and the grounds looked awful!!! I understand that their will always be some sort of activities for maintence but it was over the top and they should not of rented this unit during the construction.
Overall the customer service was nice, prompt and helpful. Our front door would not open due to the key card scanner not working, but they came down and fixed it right away.
Not sure I would go back, but I would never go during the april time when they are prepping the place for the upcoming Summer.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly courteous, pleasant and accommodating. They opened doors for us, helped plan our evenings and ensured a comfortable stay. Our room in the seabreeze cottage was immaculate and inviting. It even had a working fireplace to enjoy. We especially enjoyed dinner at the tavern, where the bread and mac and cheese were tremendous. We also had a lot of unexpected fun relaxing in the south lounge around a game of competitive monopoly.
The rates and dining were not cheap, but worth every penny.

I grew up spending the summers in Chatham and drove by this hotel many times. I always wanted to have a drink in the summer at the CBI. I was moving to California in August, so on my Memorial Day weekend trip I decided to visit this establishment.
My husband and I went around 7pm on a Sunday night. The crowd at the bar was a bit snooty. We took our overpriced drinks and sat out on the Adirondack chairs that overlook the water. It was a nice place to sit for an hour and relax. I think most people would enjoy experience as long as they are prepared for the prices ahead of time.

I’m baffled at how this resort doesn’t have five stars! Pulling up, we felt as if we had entered a picture-​perfect movie set! The hotel is beautiful and you can’t help but smile looking out at the ocean views. The friendliness of the staff, the beauty of the resort and the wonderful restaurants made this one of the best vacations of my life.
We came mid-​week after Labor Day weekend and since the resort was low on occupancy they upgraded us to an ocean view suite with 3 rooms, 2 fireplaces and a balcony that overlooked the pool and had breathtaking ocean views.
This is a great resort for families and/​or romantic getaways. … My only regret is that we didn’t have time to visit the spa– oh well, I guess we will have to return! ;)

I am reviewing only the restaurant on the beach side of the CBI. I have to say that CBI is a model of consistency. Service is always top flight, the facilities first rate, the prices stratospheric and the food quality decidedly mediocre. This is one of those places where coming here is a judgement call. You are on vacation, you are willing to spend, you are coming for the venue and you know the food is going to be shall we say «disappointing». Here are the trade offs:
Service: Always excellent; from the valet service to the bus boys these folks do an excellent job hiring and training their staff.
Venue: It is hard to find a more beautiful spot located on the beach with unobstructed views from almost tables on the deck.
Prices: Let’s just say this place is not for the value conscious dinner. They offer a lobster sandwich for $ 34.00, salads from $ 16.00 to $ 26.00 and appetizers run around $ 10 to $ 16.00. Lunch for six was $ 370.00 before tip.
Food: The mezza platter was nicely presented with a spicy hummus. Salads are substantial and presented well. The lobster and cheese sandwich was inedible.
Drinks: They pour a mean martini; the second of which helped ease the pain associated with the dismal lobster sandwich.
Summary: If you want a bit of a splurge knowing that you are there mostly for the view then give the Beach House a try.
