My Chocolate Shoppe produces chocolate truffles, fudge, caramel apples, and other chocolate creations all by hand right on the downtown mall.

History

Established in 2014.

A recent transplant to Charlottesville. Mary Beth Schellhammer had been making chocolate since 2006 in Fredericksburg, VA. I love Charlottesville and was looking for over a year to find the perfect location to open a store here.

Pretty good chocolate. I tried the snores, lemon infused basil, and dark chocolate peanut butter cups. They had attentive customer service and it breaks up the pretentious atmosphere on the downtown mall. Worth a visit!

Luckily I always prefer to bite into my chocolates to inspect my chocolates and the filling. I got a couple including the bacon banana dark chocolate and when I bit into it, the interior revealed a well established layer of mold. Im thinking maybe they didnt ensure that there were no air pockets in the filling? Either way, no thank you and never again.

Mary Beth was great to work with in setting up my daughter’s birthday party at the shop — very professional and flexible. Here, you can support local business AND find excellent candy — a win-​win!
