Leathers Snyder Bed and Breakfast

We recently stayed at the Leathers Snyder Bed and Breakfast after deciding to make a very last minute mini-​getaway trip to Charlottesville. We were pleasantly surprised by their availability and prices, especially compared to other B&Bs in the area. Susan and Jeff were absolutely wonderful, inviting and warm. Their home was an absolute masterpiece, Jeff and Susan have completely renovated this home and even have the photos to share. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and had a great variety and the location was ideal for both the downtown mall and the campus. We will definitely be back next time we visit Charlottesville.

We stayed here for our son’s Graduation from UVA. It was perfect! We were able to leave our cars and walk to the University and to the Downtown Mall. Rooms are nicely decorated and each room had a bathroom which was a plus. Loved the kitchen area. Great place to gather and have breakfast. B&B was very clean and comfortable. Jeff and Susan were great !! I would definitely recommend staying here the next time you visit Charlottesville.

Great place to stay! I stayed for two nights during a long weekend in Charlottesville. The place is very clean and comfortable. The owners are kind and helpful with local places like restaurants, vineyards, and sites. The breakfast in the morning is plentiful and fresh. Coffee is good too. You can walk to the historic downtown Charlottesville in 5 minutes or less too. Highly recommend the place!

We stayed at the Leathers Snyder B&B in October, which happens to be Virginia Wine Month. Charlottesville is a great place to be during October, and Leathers Snyder is a great place to be in Charlottesville.
Location — very close to the pedestrian mall downtown, and thus to many fine restaurants and shops. Ridge Street is slightly busy, relative to Charlottesville.
Parking — off street parking a short walk from downtown Charlottesville? Yes please.
Lodging — the home itself is an elegantly-​appointed Victorian with an abundance of places to sit and relax, read, or chat. There is a fire pit out back that might be fun to use on a cold night. Our bedroom was tidy and well-​maintained, with a comfortable bed and a television. The dining area was cozy. The kitchen is immense.
Food — we did not take any meals at the house during our stay, though we did have coffee. Coffee is always good.
Staff — the friendly (but unobtrusive) hosts were quite welcoming and attentive to our needs despite having a bustling weekend.
Price — reasonable rates, comparable to if not better than many hotels. When you factor in the privacy and convenience of the location, it was well worth the price.
To sum: if you’re staying in Charlottesville, you would do well to consider Leathers Snyder Bed and Breakfast.

The bf and I stayed here on one of our weekend visits to CVille and we were very happy with our experience. To be honest, we only found this b&b because the Inn where we’ve stayed in the past was booked. Whenever we go, we look for somewhere that’s in walking distance to the downtown mall (no, not a shopping mall — if you know CVille then you know it’s an outdoor pedestrian area with shops, restaurants, and even a small movie theater). Anyway, we usually like to go to dinner and enjoy a cocktail or two without the nuisance of hopping back in a car and driving anywhere.
The description of an «urban» bed and breakfast is pretty accurate, if only because Leathers Snyder is located on a busy street (although this is a relative term — it’s a busy street for CVille). Despite the semi-​sketchy mini mart across the street and a salvation army a few doors down, the b&b itself is really nice and we felt completely safe throughout our stay. We walked to dinner and drinks, which meant walking back in the later evening, and sure, we passed some sketchy characters, but nothing we don’t see in Richmond! It is Charlottesville, after all, not a mecca for crime.
We stayed in the Katelyn Suite, which has a queen bed and an adjacent private bath. The bath isn’t attached to the room, so we had to exit the bedroom and cross the hallway to get to the bathroom. Normally I wouldn’t be a fan of this, but no other rooms share this end of the small hallway so it still felt really private. Also, we knew this when making the reservation, so the layout didn’t come as a surprise. The bathroom itself was very clean and modern, with a jacuzzi tub and a separate glass shower. Our room was extremely spacious and although we didn’t spend a ton of time in the room itself (we went wine tasting during the day on Saturday — another thing we always do in cville), it was very conducive to doing so if holing up for a romantic weekend alone is your thing.
The continental breakfast hit the spot and was even better once taken out back and enjoyed while ingesting the fresh air. You don’t get much more relaxing than that! I’d totally stay at this b&b again — and in fact, I most likely will since we visit CVille for overnight stays a few times a year.
