History
Established in 2008.
Leathers-Snyder House stands on the site of the old Methodist Presiding Elder’s house. James A. Leathers built the current home in 1891. In 1915 it was sold to W.H. Snyder. It became a boarding house in 1963 and was registered as a historic home under it’s current name. Jeffrey and Susan Lanterman purchased the boarding house in 2004. A complete restoration of the interior took place over the next 3 years to return the home to its late Victorian splendor. The Leathers-Snyder Bed and Breakfast was registered for business in 2008 and continues serving the University of Virginia alumni and Charlottesville visitors.

Business Owner
Susan Lanterman’s experience in interior design has resulted in six personal house transformations. Adapting the 1891 Leathers-Snyder house to meet the needs of current guests involved the addition of several bathrooms creatively situated within the original footprint as well as creating an open floor plan for entertaining. Her husband, Jeff is a licensed contractor and dedicated craftsman for over 35 years. Together they provide guests with a comfortable, home-away-from-home that has every amenity, yet all the charm of a Victorian home.
