Maybe the problem is that this isn’t the place for vegetarians. Was visiting a friend in Virginia and we stopped by here for lunch before going out for a hike. As some others have noted, the best part of the sub was the bread. They clearly only put the veggie sub on there because they thought it was the ‘current’ thing to do, because it was pretty sad. All watery shredded lettuce, a few TINY(I mean tiny) tomatoes, and thin cucumbers. Not super expensive but it was over $ 7, and I felt like I barely ate anything.

Here is my experience. We ordered around 2:45ish AM. They called at 2:59AM saying they ran out of bread. Do we still want our orders? YES, WEDO. I understand if I want this sandwich I’m gonna have to wait for some fresh bread. Great! I love fresh bread. Got here around 4ish. The sandwiches were great. I mean I have better and maybe it was the wait time due to circumstances that were not in their control but my sandwich hit the spot. Our delivery girl was really nice too and apologetic about the wait. Maybe not the fastest but on a saturday night in a college town I’m not surprised. Ohh and I got the beach something or other, number 12. I expected more avocado, just saying.

Definitely your standard sub, but better quality than subway or quiznos. The bread and meat are usually pretty fresh, and I’ve never been disappointed. Their delivery service is pretty quick, great for nights when you suddenly remember you haven’t had dinner yet and become instantly ravenous. Also, definitely grab a bag of their Jimmy Chips to go with your sub, they’re delicious.

We(the wife and i) were staying at the red roof inn… and this place is in the same building as the red roof. We just got back from the pearl jam concert and it was late and we figured we would try out JJ(since it was late and it was around the corner) I got the«big john» sub it did not live up to its name. It had(and I counted) 3 very thin slices of roast beef and a ton of lettuce and my wife’s sandwich was slathered in mayo and the same amount of meat. we also had the cookies(which tasted on the verge of being stale and dry) overall it was very disappointing… I doubt would ever do jimmy johns again… i’ll stick with publix or kroger subs or even subway.

They must understand the term«Gourmet» to mean something different than I do. No matter where you go, Jimmy Johns makes the most boring, worst, awful sandwiches I’ve ever had. Hard, flavorless bread with some shredded iceberg, a tiny bit of meat and cheese, and a bunch of oil. Don’t eat here unless you are so drunk you can’t walk to white spot.

First off, does no one use Unilocal in Charlottesville? Seems like most of the places around here have hardly any reviews… Visiting here for work and we needed a quick lunch, so we stopped by Jimmy John’s. The people I was with were raving about this place, and how they wished we had them in California, but I just thought the sandwiches were okay. The bread was the best part of the sub, the rest was whatevs. I ordered the Beach Club which supposedly comes with turkey, cheese, avocado spread, cucumber, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I literally could not taste any hint of avocado. Was it even on my sub? I saw some green stuff so I assume so. Could have used some more cucumbers and sprouts(though I hear their sprouts have led to illness recently so maybe that’s a good thing…). Overall it was okay. Pretty standard turkey sub. The service was fast. Their chips were great. Price was pretty decent. But definitely not anything special. And who gave this place four $ signs. Seriously, it’s one.

Some folks say they get tired of subs, but that’s only because they get addicted to eating these all the time. And just like the commercial, they are really Freaky Fast. I even went in person and they had the sandwich done by the time I walked to the end of the line. Tasty and their Kettle Chips are a crunchy alternative to the other guys’ standard chip choices. Perfect when you need a FAST Lunch before a meeting or if you need to cater a lunch meeting.

If you don’t like bread, try the«Unwich» — they use lettuce as a wrap. Watch out though, because it can be messy. Creative combinations, fresh ingredients that are kept refrigerated. Competent and super-fast staff. Outdoor seating has a nice green view of West Main, but indoor seating has the advantage of great music from the speakers. Most people order by numbers– the menu is a huge board on the wall. They have other funny decorations and plaques too. Try the #15 «Club Tuna»: Homemade tuna salad, provolone, sprouts, cucumber, lettuce and tomato. Also try the«Slim 1» of ham & cheese if you’re in the mood for something simple.
