Description

Specialties

In 1774 Thomas Jefferson, one of America’s first wine connoisseurs, convinced Italian Philip Mazzei to establish a vineyard on our property. With the financial support of Jefferson, the Virginia Wine Company was founded on present day Jefferson Vineyards. Continuing this tradition, we currently produce nationally recognized Virginia wines from classic varietals and have been doing so for over 3 decades. Jefferson Vineyards is a family owned farm winery and a pioneer of the Virginia Wine Industry.

Tastings daily, 11AM — 6PM. Wine tastings are $ 10, include 10 wines and a souvenir wine glass. We offer mostly dry wines and a semi-sweet white wine. Tours are not offered at this time.

We look forward to your visit.

History

Established in 1981.

Our estate lies on vineyard sites originally selected and planted in 1774 by Thomas Jefferson and Philip Mazzei. Sound vineyard site selection is the critical choice on the path to producing high quality fruit. The quality of the fruit defines the wines. From these sites on our estate and from a few select others nearby, we have produced some of Virginia’s finest wines for over 33 years.
