Established in 2006.

Robert arrived in Charlotte in 2006 to accept a position as Choirmaster for a house of worship. In October 2006 he began teaching private voice lessons to interested students. His students have grown steadily both in the use of their voices and in their numbers. He has received eleven five star reviews on other sites.

Robert Wendell’s deepest knowledge and experience of ideal vocal technique was passed to him through his studies under the late Lav Vrbanic. For 26 years Professor Vrbanic had chaired the vocal department at the Zagreb Academy of Music in the former Yugoslavia. He was widely considered in Europe to be one of the 4 or 5 greatest voice teachers in the world. Later Vrbanic served for 5 years on the faculty of the New England Conservatory (NEC) Robert studied privately several times a week for 3 years under Professor Vrbanic at NEC.

Robert’s musical experience embraces multiple genres. He occasionally performs as a jazz singer, is an expert scat singer, and improvises jazz, blues, R&B and other genres on trumpet or violin. He is also expert in the classical genre. He has sung major baritone solo roles in the Boston and Cambridge areas, such as Jesus in J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. He has taught in Charlotte since 2006. He has a Master of Music degree from the University of Florida.
