History

Established in 2011.

The owners have been in the restaurant business for 30+ years. Joseph Randazzo started his love for Italian food when he was only 18 years old by opening his first pizzeria in New York. After a couple of years, he opened his first full service restaurant and bar and met Barbara, his wife, and realized the love they both had for running and owning a business together. Many years later, they moved to South Carolina and their main staple was Tony’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant. With one remaining open still in York SC, you might also know them from Papa Pino’s on Carowinds boulevard. Several years later, they decided to re-open the old Grid Iron and give it a whole new twist. You can find them and their 5 children running, The Randazzos’ Grid Iron on South Tryon street, 7 days a week.

Meet the Business Owner

Joseph R.

Business Owner

In 1971, I was a young man just off the boat from Sicily and ready to live the American dream, but the Bronx was a far cry from my beautiful homeland. I found myself longing for things that reminded me of the old country. Having grown up a farmer, I knew fresh food, I loved to cook and I knew the importance of a good, affordable meal. So as an 18 year old immigrant, I opened my first restaurant, a small pizzeria that served New York’s finest. From there, my ambitions grew to opening a full service restaurant and bar on Long Island, New York.

A decade later, I found my way to the warmer winters of the Carolina’s. Now as a successful restauranteur; having designed, operated and licensed many restaurants through my company the past 30+ years, I still work hard living out my passion making delicious food. I’ve come a long way since my days in the Bronx; but some things will always remain the same like honest value, fresh ingredients and great good.

Thanks for being a part of our family.
