Will not order ever again… I work in a company that they sometimes do lunch for and due to parking I had to order from there… $ 10.50 for frozen, greasy, cold food! The first time I tried it it was super bland, the mac n cheese was dry and barely no cheese the hush puppies straight out of a bag and the center was not properly cook but the outside was a little burned. I decided to give it another chance an this time it was WORST shrimp was EXTREMELYSALTY so there was no way of fixing it and the fries were more like grease sponges!

Worm is not a fan of your BBQ Mac and cheese, you should step it up. I awarded you 3 stars because I myself did not taste the BBQ Mac and cheese but I fully trust Worm. He would not say it was good in theory if it was good in real life. Worm is a stand up guy even with a tricky back.

I had Ruthie’s 11⁄7 at Metrolina Antique show. So many claim to have the best mac & cheese but leave a lot to be desired… not Ruthie’s. The cheese sauce permeated every nook and cranny. It was pure bliss in your mouth. Collards were seasoned to perfection and the sweet potatoes had just the right amount of sweetness. I had just eaten so I wasn’t hungry when I came across their food truck. That didn’t stop them from giving me samples to try… very smart marketing. I left with their business card and talks about catering events with my company. Call it soul or southern to me it’s the same wonderful food.

They have been to my work site 2 times now. I have so wanted to try then even with the reviews of not so happy foodies. I was willing to give then a try. But as with the first time, their credit card machine is not working. They try to bum wifi from local business’s and if they can’t get a signal, the machine doesn’t work. So yet again no luck for me, so in my book, no star should be awarded just for this alone. The Web site they show is a blank brick wall, tweets from them are out dated. They have a long way to go before i will try them.

Ruthies of Charlotte has to be one of the best food trucks by far. I was lucky enough to experience this tastiness at Food Truck Friday’s. I was really impressed with the food because of their creative twists on comfort food classics. I tried the Meatloaf Mac n Cheese Sandwich and my fiancé had the Collard Green Quesadilla, they both were so flavorful and delicious. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars, but I definitely will continue to follow this truck around the city!!!

Ruthie’s was at the Matthews Food Truck Friday event with about 10 other trucks. I arrived, scoped out the scene, and figured the truck with the longest line probably had the best food, so I made a B-line for Ruthie’s.(As you will learn my logic was very flawed) Written in the window was«Today’s Specials — Lobster Mac». I figured that would be a good choice so after an unknown amount of time in line I was finally able to place my order. The lady taking orders was very nice, but was using a tablet to take orders and apparently didn’t know how to use it. I ordered a Lobster Mac, two shrimp tacos, a water and coke. «We are out of coke. You want a Cherry Coke?» Not really. «What else do you have?» «We have Dr Pepper» «I’ll take a Dr Pepper then» I replied. It took 5 minutes to place the order it was so chaotic. During this process several people kept coming to the window asking how much longer it would be. Ruthie’s apparently calls out your order by ticket number and after spending 5 minutes trying to take our order the lady at the window forgot to give us a number. We had to go back up and find out what we were. 86 — the just had called 76. Now at this point I want to point out, all of their food is basically soul food AKA fried. It should take 5 – 10 minutes to make 90% of their menu. There was 4 people in the trailer«working». I use quotes because they were saying lots of stuff and moving around a bunch, but I quickly learned that Ruthie’s had a LONG way to go in refining their process. It was basically chaos. After 10 minutes of waiting I started to listen to other customers. They were all frustrated. Also after 10 minutes of waiting they had only called 2 numbers. I still had 8 to go. I’m a patient, and easy going person. I grabbed a lawn chair and a book and sat down. People around me laughed and told me I had the right idea. I highly recommend bringing distraction items if you want to eat at Ruthies in the future. 30 minutes later my family sent a search party. They found me in front of Ruthie’s, reading a book, still waiting for my food. Somewhere around 35 minutes after ordering they called my number. It felt like I won the lottery! Well, actually it felt like waiting at the doctors office for hours and finally feeling relieved when it’s your turn. I had bonded in suffering with the fellow patrons. They smiled as if to say, «great job Rob, you survived!» «We’re out of Dr Pepper. You want a Cherry Coke?» Sigh. «That’s fine. « The Lobster Mac was OK. Actually, I expected it to bad and it wasn’t, so that’s something I guess. It’s hard to be honest about the food after waiting 35 minutes for it, but mom insisted the shrimp tacos were yummy. We spent the rest of the night trying to figure out how it takes so long to cook shrimp tacos that are served cold. They were apparently the thing most everyone had to wait on. On the plus side the people seemed nice. Maybe this is a new business? If they can get their act together there is real potential with Ruthie’s. Oh well, at least I enjoyed my book.

Absolutely love the collard green quesadilla — just the right amount of cheese & collards. It wasn’t too heavy — so it was perfect after a long day of work when I just needed a little something on my stomach. My fiancé loves the meat loaf/mac & cheese sandwich, it’s a whole meal that you can hold in two hands. Doesn’t get much better than that in our eyes! Can’t wait until for Food Truck Fridays once things warm up just a smidge more so I can get my grub on at Ruthie’s!

Have eaten here twice and both times were a big disappointment. First time was for shrimp and fries — standard deep fried stuff and nothing special. I tried again and had the pulled pork with two sides — mac & cheese and the greens. The greens were the best thing on the plate which has to be one of the most disappointing statements one could make. The mac and cheese was dry and as bland as anything. The pulled pork was a disaster. The appearance should have been warning enough — unappetizing looking slop. The taste? I am sure there was pork in there as I got a very faint hint of smokiness from time to time. However, other than a somewhat stringy texture amongst the overwhelming flavor of sugar it could have been anything. Did I mention the overly sweet sugar taste? That was all you got. Sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar. I only ate half because it was just impossible to continue eating. And all that for $ 9 Such a shame

I wasn’t sure what to order so I ordered one of my favorite side dishes. Mac and cheese. I was extremely disappointed it was very dry and bland. It cost almost 4 bucks im really glad I didn’t get more i really was hoping that it was good. The portion was a good amount, just lacking taste and cheese.

I tried this new food truck while they were parked outside Sycamore Brewery and since I love food trucks i had to try them. They advertise as Authentic Southern food but they are actually more soul food(think fried). The description of the truck says Ruthie’s of the Bronx NY but the website says Ruthie’s of Charlotte so I was a bit confused on who they were trying to be. The menu consists of dinners(which is your protein and 2 sides), melts, baskets and a few other things. I ordered a shrimp basket which consisted of 6 fried shrimp and a boatload of fries. It included a container halfway filled with cocktail sauce. Everything in this basket was quite bland. There was no flavor to any of it except for the seasoning on the fries. Really disappointing. There’s a similar truck in Charlotte called Hole in the Wall that is much better than this.
