Post South End

Unprofessional and ungracious management. I had issues with my application and Post South End’s inconsistent, misleading policies around fees. Management was hard to deal with as they would not respond to my emails /​calls unless I sent follow-​ups or appealed to their superiors. When they did respond they cited technicalities to get out of any obligation they have to the customer. Before submitting my application, I already had reservations about management at this complex because of the other reviews online, and this experience confirmed my concerns that this business is not run professionally. I ended up backing out of the apartment and moving into another complex right down the street and I am glad I did.

Do you want something to fall through the ceiling onto your face while you’re sleeping? Post South End would be probably be your best bet in the South End.

Before moving in, I specifically asked management if fire alarms and noise at night were problems, and was told that they weren’t. During my first week here, a fire alarm goes off in the early morning. During my third week, the A/​C units (several of them situated on wooden planks on the paper thin roof directly above my bed!) start kicking in and cause my entire bedroom to vibrate, making it impossible to sleep. In retrospect, I’m thankful that I didn’t get crushed by those A/​C units. Even if you’re not on the top level, I’ve been told that you can clearly hear all of the footsteps above you as well as your next-​door neighbors because this building is notorious for have exceptionally cheap building materials. When I presented this issue of not being able to sleep in the apartment, Post Properties decided that they weren’t going to solve the problem, so maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get that same apartment and can sleep over at a friend’s place indefinitely while paying $ 1200+ a month!

There is nooooooo way this place has four stars. Just look at the reviews on apartment ratings and you’ll see what’s going on. Noise, noise, noise, garbage, fire alarms, hooliganism, public pool in the summer, and so many more things that make life miserable. Management, much like any other complex in the US, could not care about the tenants. They only care about making sure the rent is paid on time. The company HQ doesn’t care about anything but money either. Seriously, you will deeply regret living here. Four stars… Haha, maybe on a scale of 1 – 20. For shame, Post south end. For shame.

I just wrote a poor review on another complex so I figured I would give my own apartment building some ‘kudos’.
I have lived at Post Properties since 2009 but Post South End for about 2 years. My apartment lay out is amazing. The new building makes it dirt cheap to pay energy and such. Mike Reid and the other leasing associates are so helpful. Recently, they hired a new manager I am not a huge fan of but it doesn’t effect me much. Location is great — to the light rail, common market, bars, stadium. Parking isn’t an issue for you or your guests [this topic sparked my negative review at another complex uptown]. It also has a lot of great grassy areas for pets and pool and grills are great!
Only downfalls I have are: I can hear walking above me and through the walls to my neighbors. Not walking distance to a grocery store except the neighborhood market. And they have a real problem trying to fix part of the gate. It doesn’t effect me much but I don’t understand why they don’t just take it down. Lastly, there used to be a huge issue with fire alarms going off but it hasn’t happened in a while.

Although this initially seemed like a great place to live, we soon realized that the building and company were both very poor. The building seems to be slowly falling apart due to poor construction (not their fault, they bought it from someone) and poor overall building maintenance. During our one year stay, we dealt with fire alarms randomly going off (at least once or twice a week on average, typically at night around 2 AM on weekends and weekdays), for over a month, a broken water pump leading to very low flow on the fourth floor to the point where we could barely shower (for over a month and a half), 1 of the 2 grills on the premise out of order for about 3 months, and a garage with cracks on multiple levels that needed to be repaired. Although they were great with personal maintenance requests, they always took the cheapest option possible on the building (for example, removing the fire alarm pulls altogether rather than installing cameras by them). Additionally, both of our cars were hit while parked in the garage and the office basically told us there was nothing they could do. Although the building was a fun place to live with a great location and a very friendly staff, the hassles of living there and the price being charged is absolutely not worth it. I would never live at another Post apartment complex after our very poor experience there.

Great place to live if you are a young professional and just moving in to town. A lot of young professionals live here and it makes it easier to make friends. The pool can be very noisy in the summer but also a lot of fun. If you like it nice and quiet on the weekends I do not recommend living in an apartment overlooking the pool.
Great access to the light rail and walking distance to many restaurants and bars, also CVS and bagel and coffee shops.
The office staff and maintenance are very nice and helpful!

Ever wondered what it’s like to live in a frat house? Try living at Post South End! Party party party all the time. My apartment setup was cool and the location is fantastic, but if you’re over 23 and have a real job, this might not be the place for you. My apartment overlooked the pool, which I thought was pretty awesome at first, until I experienced pool season. Each weekend the pool turns into party central — it’s like MTV Spring Break pretty much every weekend. Loud music (often played by a DJ), far too many people in the pool, and tons of alcohol. Want to get something done on a weekend or work from home? Better check out somewhere else. No relaxing will happen in your apartment without bass bumping in the background.
Another issue — the fire alarms go off constantly! I’m pretty sure the abundance of drunk idiot residents is the cause of them going off in the middle of the night. Something I never really got used to. Speaking of drunk idiot residents, here’s a true story:
Sometime around 2:30 a.m. my husband and I were woken up by a man yelling in the hallway, «HEEELLLLPPPP! Help! Somebody please help!!!» No one seemed to be coming to the rescue so my husband went in the hall to see what was going on. The apartment directly across from us had a man there whose toe appeared to be stuck in the door, hence all his yelling. My husband had to knock on the door, inform the girl inside that he was her neighbor and her male friend was indeed stuck in the door so she better open up or he would call the cops. She opens the door just enough to let his foot out and slammed it back shut. The man’s toe was clearly broken and there was a large smear of blood on the door. We lived there for several months following this event and no one ever cleaned off the blood. GROSS.
Don’t bother attempting to call the office for assistance — they never answer the phone. You’ll be directed to a corporate line — super annoying. And don’t think your car is safe in the garage — their trusty gate breaks seemingly once a week. There were several car break-​ins reported during my time there so be sure to lock up! Finally, don’t trust that you’ll receive your packages. I had a very important package opened by someone there after I moved out. I recovered its contents SIX MONTHS LATER… but am pissed that someone had the gaul to open my mail. I’m not convinced that other packages weren’t stolen as well. When I brought this up to management they did nothing to help me.
Bottom line, this place seems great, and you might have fun living here, but there are far too many negatives to outweigh the positives — especially with so many awesome new apartments nearby! I’d steer clear of Post Properties!
