Stay away stay away stay away at least from the Concord office. We went in for a knee consultation and we’re recommended for a symbis gel 3 part injection as cortisone has a short effect on my wife’s knee. We were told we had to wait for insurance preauthorization. wife was scheduled for 5 weeks later. go in for first appointment and they cancel appointment at their office (little freaking late) on site and say Preauthorization hasn’t been completed. I call up and demand an explanation as to why she had to go in and be cancelled on at the office and why a preauthorization took 5 weeks. we were called and told the organization was approved and scheduled for the next day. after getting the three injections, about a week apart, we get a bill no insurance coverage and to add insult to injury the injections are having side effects and we have been waiting three days for a call back from the administering physician after speaking to a nurse about her not being able to stand on knee that injections were put into almost three weeks later horrible service before after care a follow up wasn’t even scheduled, we have to pay extra for that, the injections were billed seperatly everything is a la cart STAY AWAY.

The check in process was awful. Arrived 30 minutes early as requested and waited 30 minutes past appointment time be called– totaling one hour in waiting room. Was asked a few basic questions but what I would assume was a nurse and then shuffled off to X-​Rays with no explanation before even seeing a doctor. This was totally not needed as the doctor later does not even use the x-​Ray to diagnose.
Back to X-​Ray: the x-​ray tech VERY loudly said «wait are you pregnant» in a busy hallway filled with patients and employees. So much for confidentiality. No I am not pregnant — just happened to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a front pocket. Then she had to re-​take some of the x-​Rays 2 and three times because she forgot to change something out and double exposed (that is how she described it).
The doctor came in and initially the appointment seemed to go well. He recommended and MRI and said I would likely need arthroscopic surgery. I began to ask some questions about the costs and options related to these procedures he then said good question — but did not answer me?! Instead told me he would be right back-​we were mid conversation and had not even discussed what I was to do about my condition in the mean time. I am a dance teacher by profession– having trouble even just walking and he didn’t take two seconds to instruct me on care. Well, he never came back. A different nurse came in with the information for my MRI and told me I could go to check out. I explained that I had not finished with the doctor and he had told me he would be back. The nurse went to find him and came back to let me know the doctor said no he was done. Very strange and unprofessional way to end an appointment. I’ll be taking my MRI results elsewhere.

My mother recently went through knee replacement surgery and this facility was her primary care. I wanted to leave one review so I waited until her physical therapy was complete.
I came with my mom to discuss potential knee replacement surgery option. I did my research online and I was ready to ask all the questions which I had prepared ahead of time. I pretty much ask all type of questions I could think of and I was pretty impressed with doctor’s willingness to educate us on the whole process as well as details. We were satisfied with doctor’s response and confident on performing the surgery.
We scheduled our surgery in uptown CMC where we were told that same doctor would perform the surgery. They even provided a translator for my mom during her consultation and stay at the hospital.
The whole surgery took about 45 minutes and doctor came out after the surgery to provide an update to me personally. Again, giving my detail oriented nature I asked few questions and he was able to explain me in detail.
After the surgery, she had to complete physical therapy to ensure her knee would function correctly. This office helped us schedule her physical therapy which was little closer to our house in different office.
Through out the whole process, we were pretty happy with doctor’s creditability and friendliness. I would have given 5 star review but there was one incident where a nurse was not very friendly with my sister when she asked couple of questions. I think even the front office staff could use a little training on how to be friendly with their customers because at the end of the day, best marketing is referral.

Dr. Dockery is a great knee /​hip specialist. Four members of my family have used him for knee surgery and have been happy with the results. I recently saw him for a sports related hip injury, and he was very helpful. He spent the time needed with me to accurately diagnose the issue. Overall, Dockery is reliable and can be trusted.
The efficiency of the clinic, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. The check-​in process is just short of torture. After standing in line at the front desk, you are asked to sign a sheet with your name and then sit down in the waiting area. Some time later, you are called back up to the desk to finalize the check-​in, which for me took at least 10 minutes. For people with ortho injuries (hurt knees, hips, etc.) this is not ideal. I was asked to sit down and get back up 3 different times during the check in process. I saw others who also had difficulty getting up and down so many times. It would be a lot more convenient to get checked in when you walk in, before you sit down. If the check-​in process takes that long, it needs to be streamlined.
Another issue is the long wait. It seems irrelevant to show up at your appointment time. My appointment time was 1:30. I arrived at 1:25. Was shown to a treatment room at 2:00, and saw the doc for the first time at 2:40. I know some clinics try to schedule patients every 5, 10 minutes, but sometimes the docs can’t work that fast (and shouldn’t!). I get that the clinic is trying to make more money, but good docs spend the time they need to accurately assess the patient (as Dockery did), but this throws the schedule way off. My time is valuable, and it annoys me to wait 70 minutes beyond my appointment time to be seen.

Dismissive doctors. Misdiagnosed me and did not take my complaints of chronic pain seriously. They seem to busy to care.

I’ve been to physical therapy 3 times now for my knee. The first two experiences we with a PT in training, she was very friendly, attentive, and tried to figure out the best thing for me. My last experience there however was terrible. The trainee is apparently gone and I got to work with one of the ‘experienced’ PT’s. I had an hour appointment — he took me about 8 minutes late, left me in a room for about 10 minutes while he looked for a machine. Then told me to just go stretch my knee on my own while he chatted with co-​workers. After my stretching, he told me to go onto the stairs and go up and down, 3 sets of 15. I did this and he had disappeared yet again — I waited for more than 10 minutes and he never came back, so I got my stuff out of my locker and left. I complained to the front desk about my experience and the receptionist wrote down my complaint and didn’t make me pay the co-​pay. If you plan to use PT at ortho-​carolina, I strongly suggest finding one of the PT’s who are going to work with you and that cares!
