History
Established in 1945.
Originally the Diamond Soda Grill, our snug brick diner on Commonwealth was conceived in 1945 by founders Flonnie and W.A. James. Mrs. James was the beating heart of the Diamond, a Marshville, NC native who loved to cook & serve and had a personality for hospitality.
We continue that tradition today serving meatloaf and mashed potatoes like mom did (or didn’t) make, fried fish on Fridays, a perfectly cooked Big Block or a Winky Dinky Dog, fried okra, mac ‘n cheese and green beans and breakfast anytime.
