Charlotte’s Scooter Shop

We recently purchased a self balancing scooter (aka hoverboard) from the Charlotte Scooter Shop and we are very pleased with the purchase. at the start of this year, my work has recently transferred me from the San Francisco Bay Area to South Carolina, and we wanted to get a hoverboard for my son for Christmas after our transfer to the East Coast since many airlines prohibit transporting hoverboards. We had just arrived into Charlotte early Friday morning after taking a non-​stop red eye flight from San Francisco. I had previously contacted the Charlotte Scooter Shop about purchasing one of their hoverboards, and even though they didn’t have hoverboards in stock at the time, they promised to contact me once they re-​stocked them. About a week later while I was packing my home in California for the big moves, Sam from the shop called and informed me they received a new shipment of hoverboards. A few days later, we arrived at the shop about 30 minutes before they opened, but the owner Johnathan was kind enough to open his store early and sell us a Gold metallic finish hoverboard. Compared to the ones my son and I have seen online and at shopping mall kiosks, this hoverboard is more solidly constructed and operates very smoothly. Johnathan explained that he is very pleased with his supplier, and his price is very competitive with what is offered online and at shopping mall kiosks. He also services them, although I doubt we’ll need it. An extra bonus was the wireless remote that can be used to electronically lock the hoverboard. We highly recommend this shop for hoverboards. If we ever need a scooter, I would strongly consider the Charlotte Scooter Shop based on their responsiveness and courtesy.

If you are in the market to buy a new scooter do not go here. They do not have many options. I think this place is more like a scooter repair place. I think everyone in town who that owns a scooter brings it here to get fixed. But I came here thinking I may find a good new scooter for sale. But I did not find any at all so I left.

I am the new owner here, I’ve been with this company for almost 6 years. Myself being the new owner/​operator, I spend everyday making improvements and adjustments to an already great business with a great atmosphere. Come by, it’s only better than before.

I first went into the Charlotte Scooter Shop after a used Vespa, on Craigslist, caught my eye. Wanting to check out other options in the 150cc scooter department before committing, I popped in and spoke with a salesman. He showed me around the shop and explained the differences in the models of scooters on the lot. When I told him about the Vespa that I was looking at and the potential deal he stopped; after which we talked for a bit. Instead of trying to sell me something out of his inventory, unlike other sales folks, he in fact told me that it sounded like I had found a great scooter. Additionally he told me what to check for in used scooters, like detailed maintenance records and also to look for certain red flags that may indicate physical wears like collisions. After our chat, I thanked him for his integrity and told him that I if I bought it that I would get it serviced at the shop.
Long story short I bought the Vespa. After an inspection I took her in to the Charlotte Scooter Shop for service and an oil change. They took her right in and handled it all the while helping me with a battery issue that I recently started to have. We chatted about long term maintenance and he even helped me with some aesthetic issues, like where to find matching paints to touch up a couple of little scratches. They sorted me out and got me on my way in enough time to get to work.
I read previous reviews about the shop conditions and I all have to say is «well it’s a shop». There are parts, oil and other things that you would expect in that environment. For what it’s worth my experience was a great one. Although I didn’t buy a scooter from them I still feel that they have good offerings on their lot. None the less I will continue to service my little Vespa there and if ever I was in the market for another scooter I would swing by and check them out.

This place is horrible. Do not take your scooter here. They replaced a gas line on my scooter and the thing fell off one week after I got it. They fixed it and it fell off again a well later. Only this time the gas leaked on my tire and caused me to crash. When I called they said it’s not their responsibility and they won’t fix anything. Save yourself the punishment and take your scooter to Vespa of Charlotte they are much better. Drive safe.

I’m happy with my scooter I got from them. I needed something under $ 1000 and nobody else was even close.

Charlotte’s scooter monopoly, such a buzzkill. If you’re handy, figure out scooters, and I’ll definitely come to you instead. Mike and Jonathan were kind and helpful, but it took a while. Mike is the owner, so he isn’t always there. If you call, try to get in touch with an actual mechanic and light a fire under them to get your scooter fixed. I had the receptionist keep saying that Mike wasn’t there, which was frustrating, but Mike wasn’t who I needed to talk to anyway.

Charlotte Scooter Shop is Charlott’s off brand dealer in town. They had about 40 used scooters mostly 50cc. Not the cleanest scooter shop I have been to. But if you are looking to get into a scooter cheap this is your place.

This place is pathetic! Brought a scooter in for minor service Saturday, said it would only take a couple hours. Called back that afternoon, then they said it could be Monday or Tuesday. No call Monday. Called on Tuesday around 1 and they said to call back around 4ish. Never once did they call me on the progress of it.
