I’m originally from NY so hot dogs are a religion to me. Sam’s is more the Midwest style of dog — more about the topping than the dog. The spicy chili topping is more medium than spicy, and just a little on the dry side. It makes for a less messy meal but not as satisfying. This is a chain and to be honest the location on Greenbriar St is a bit depressing. Not dirty, just tired. This location also has a video lottery room attached to it. I stopped in around 9:30 at night and the door was locked. You had to ring a bell to get in. Turns out there have been a lot of holdups and shootings in the area and the only employee in the place was a young girl. Smart move on her part to keep the door locked but a little creepy given the off the beaten path location. Maybe they should just buy her a gun. Anyway — the food is probably 3 stars, the location is 1 star and the girl working there deserves a raise.

Everything you want in a quick roadside dog. Good, quick, cheap and satisfying! You can’t miss this place, you literally bump into it when getting off I-64 at Marmet. It’s essentially in the Exxon parking lot. Not much in terms of a menu — just hot dogs and something mysteriously listed as «1 barbecue» and«2 barbecue». They sell bottled sodas and water. Two dogs will suffice, but three is the magic number for the road-weary traveler. That will run you $ 4.50(or 8.99 for a «six pack»). Get it with everything, which means«Carolina style» from where I’m from: mustard, chili, coleslaw and onions, and you will be pleased. Mmm. Great road side stop! Do it!
