Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, Autograph Collection

We have stayed at several of the Grand Bohemian Hotels (one in Savannah, Georgia and one in Asheville, North Carolina), and this one is just as beautiful. We love that they have their own mellow CD with bohemian beats playing in the room for you that you can take with you (for a fee) at the end of your stay, and the décor of the Grand Bohemian from the lobby to your room itself is always unique and stylish.
I would give this particular Grand Bohemian 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that our shower did not drain properly. If not for that, this would no doubt receive 5 stars.
The staff at check in were friendly and informative for the area, and we have always adored the fact that the Grand Bohemian has an art gallery. Valet service for parking at check-​in.

Great location and super clean and hip. Will be my go to spot downtown. Easy rooftop bar and everyone really friendly.

After reading reviews I realize I am not the only person to feel that the service is non existent on the rooftop of this hotel. Dirty tables and glasses from other guests just sat on our table the ENTIRE time we were seated. I would give this place a year if the manager doesn’t get their servers into shape. Such a pretty location, however this lack service gives southern hospitality a horrible reputation for anyone wishing to have a nice time.

From the minute you arrive until check out — the customer service remains on point. The wine tasting was amazing — so many great flavors to choose from. The rooms have such an elegant and comfort to them. And to top it off — the location is ideal!!! But the brunch just solidified how incredible this property is…

*This review is for everything but staying in the rooms; we had a cocktail reception downstairs in the outdoor patio space entrance, a private dinner in the upstairs room/​outdoor patio and late night drinks in the main inside space. Overall, this was one of the nicer venues I visited while I was here which is why we came here 3 straight nights :)
It is ideal for great rooftop action on a nice day/​evening to enjoy the outdoor space and view of the city. It is also good for some indoor entertainment throughout the evening where they had live music going to please your eardrums. Overall, the food menu was good (it was a private event which may be different than regular menu) but everything we ate was fresh and enjoyable.
I would recommend popping in here if you are looking for a nicer venue or casual evening on the roof.

We enjoyed our three night stay here for a variety of reasons. The bed was super comfortable, I liked the funky décor and there is a wine bar on the first floor as well as an art gallery. Service was excellent at every turn at the hotel. People we encountered remembered our names or that we were from California and always had a smile for you. They offered turn down service nightly and the room was super clean. The bathroom is spacious although the lighting isn’t ideal. The location is great for walking around the city too. The hotel has rooftop bar that appears to be popular with locals and tourists alike. This is only on the 4^th floor– tall buildings are not a thing here. They have a nice café which was perfect for morning coffee/​breakfast or lunch. I feel like you can’t go wrong if you stay here, I highly recommend it.

Our stay at The Grand Bohemian Charleston was unforgettable. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the art room is full of culture and the wine tasting class is a really unique feature. How many hotels offer a wine tasting and an opportunity to bottle your own vino? The music that softly flows through the entire hotel sets the mood for a fun, exciting weekend getaway. The staff was incredibly welcoming and ensured our stay was nothing less than perfect. Lastly, the location could not be better. You are steps from the best shopping and restaurants in the area! We won’t be staying anywhere else on our next trip to Charleston.

Beautiful. Classy and great ambiance. Roof top bar is a nice relaxing spot to have a glass of wine.

Great atmosphere upstairs! The food was awesome. Staff was friendly. We had no trouble getting in at happy hour. They have great cocktails.

This is a beautiful, metropolitian hotel. Its got a great vibe, cool wine bar downstairs, art gallery. I travel the majority of the month and really enjoyed my stay here.

I am a frequent traveler to Charleston and this is my first stay at this hotel. (I’d visited the rooftop bar on a previous visit shortly after the hotel opened and the service was non-​existent. I’m hoping that’s improved but I didn’t check it out on this trip.)
My room was comfortable, well furnished, and suited my needs fine. I stayed in an atrium view room which is a little odd in that you do overlook a very small atrium so there is natural light, but the «view» is interior and there are other hotel rooms directly across from you that you can see right into. My room must have been under the restaurant or bar because I heard chairs constantly being dragged on the floor ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Until well after midnight. Annoying is an understatement. And the paintings in the room are incredibly creepy and unsettling. Like I need to wake up to that every morning.
All in all, this is a pleasant boutique hotel in a great location; walking distance to all the downtown shopping and unbelievably delicious food offerings. However, they could definitely improve in some areas.

Right off the bat did not stay in this hotel just popped in to check it out and all I can say is wow! What a beautifully interesting in tastefully done lobby love the artwork bartender at the wine bar was super knowledgeable and helpful. Seriously by any standards in any city in the common areas rival any boutique hotel at which I’ve ever stayed. Now to the rooftop bar: very nice little quiet tonight on a Thursday around 10 PM outdoor was lovely, service could use a little work. To cocktail waitresses one obviously in training asked us if we needed anything and I asked for a cocktail menu upon which they handed me one pay off to good start. Almost 10 minutes later we’re still sitting, cocktail menus in hand looking around wondering WTF, are they coming back? At this point my friend Peter suggested we just go to his house where he assured me there would be much better service and he promised me a tasty drink and an interesting rest of the evening. We left and had a wonderful night but we vowed to go back and give them another try. My suggestion to you is go soon before the masses discount for it and make it impossible to get in to the bar on my next visit I’m definitely going to check out one of their rooms and write a follow up.

My husband and I are staying at the wonderful King Charles Inn and decided to check out the rooftop hotel bar next door. Well, we waited ten minutes or more for service which never came so we left. This is NOT acceptable here in Charleston. We find this lack of service to be disappointing for such a pricey hotel. This is a historic district, not Manhattan therefore does not fit in with the local charm. We have no intentions to book a room AND pay for parking at 31.00 per day whereas our hotel the parking is complimentary.

Charleston has notched it up with the addition of this roof top restaurant. Multi eating areas and bar areas, not to leave out the art deco outdoor bar lounging area. We have visited several times, but this time we really enjoyed the appiterzers, crab cake and the smelt. Was not sure about the smelt, but it was amazing with the sauce. The service was spot on with multiple visits and attention to detail. Our group was a total of 6 and we all enjoyed the increbitable atmosphere.

Service was top notch, but food wasn’t worth the price.
Bright my colleague from out town here to both brag about Charleston’s cuisine and Restaurant Week. We were treated very well by the server who was always on point with anything we needed, but we felt the food wasn’t worth the price paid. I had the 7 hour Leg of Lamb and she had the shrimp and grits off the restaurant week menu and while we agreed they were good, I thought that I can find food just as good or above taste wise for much less prices else where in downtown. I always go nuts during restaurant week in Charleston, and my expectations are higher than usual for sure. Yet, I wouldn’t recommend this place to eat.
The atmosphere and the vibe however was delightful.

One of the very few things I miss about Atlanta is hotel bars, you know the really swanky ones like the Ritz and St. Regis. Here in Charleston we’re just not that fancy (aside from maybe Pavilion Bar’s rooftop). Thank you to the Grand Bohemian for finally opening and filing that void.
Continuing my fancy Friday after Hall’s, we stopped by the Grand Bohemian to meet friends. I was with one of best friends from Asheville, whom prior to both living in Charleston it was our thing to meet for Christmas cocktails at our hometown Grand Bohemian bar. We were both amazed by how bright and modern the Charleston outpost is compared to our own Aspen-​esque one. The Grand Bohemian does a fantastic job making a phenomenal hotel catered to each location. Even from the outside, this brand new hotel fits in perfectly with the historic Charleston architecture.
But really though, we were there for the bar. It’s my new favorite rooftop bar in Charleston. It also ousted Pavilion as the most expensive bar in town. Holy $ 14 glass of rosé Batman — for that price you’d think you were in New York City! However, the atmosphere totally makes up for the sticker shock. It’s like a real life Alice in Wonderland. They have astroturf, whimsical furniture, and futuristic pink lighting on the patio. Everything about this place is just fabulous.
The Grand Bohemian bar is definitely worthy hitting up for drinks if you’re feeling fancy. Until I hit the lottery, I probably will not be reporting back on how the hotel rooms are for $ 450 a night. All and all though, it’s a great add to the Holy City.

OMG! Two nights at The Grand Bohemian Hotel… Awesome!
We explored all they had to offer… from the wine blending class (90 minutes and you leave with your own bottle of your blend and a label with any picture or name you choose), to the delicious appetizers at the upstairs rooftop bar. Do not skip the blue cheese potato chips! YUM! We also enjoyed an amazing dinner with friends at Eleve upstairs. Great food great wine selection.
Downstairs they have a 35 list of wines on tap that you can taste using a card to access any wines you choose.
The art gallery has some really nice jewelry and of course art!
The décor throughout the hotel is funky, cool and comfortable. THE beds were super comfy with fluffy down pillows.
The shower is the bomb!
Despite just opening, the staff seemed knowledgable and so willing to do whatever to make our stay more enjoyable.
I highly recommend this hotel. We usually stay at The Vendu (which is also amazing) but we like the location of this hotel better for shopping, dining on King Street!

What a sight to see. New and fresh. Open just 3 days. Roof top bar feels like NYC. The art in the gallery is a must see. We just stopped by for a quick look and were very impressed with all they had to offer.
