Code One Charleston is an American Heart Association Training Center providing CPR and First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training courses. Courses are provided at our location or we can travel to your work or meeting place.

History

Established in 2007.

Code One Training Solutions was founded by Richard Shok, a nursing student studying at the University of Connecticut. Rich had worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and had taught some small CPR classes before attending UConn. When he realized that there was a huge demand for a convenient training course to certify his fellow nursing students, Rich jumped right in.

Needless to say the demand for training courses continued and Code One expanded to keep up with the demand. Today, there are three training offices located in East Hartford, CT; Woodbridge, CT; and Charleston, SC. Code One employs 4 full time staff and over 20 part time instructors providing courses all over the east coast. Approximately 3,000 people are trained each year by Code One instructors.

Code One’s programs have also expanded to provide Emergency Medical Services (EMT, EMT-​Refresher) courses and advanced life support training (ACLS and PALS).

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Rich is a Registered Nurse, Emergency Medical Services Instructor, and an American Heart Association Training Center Faculty member. Rich oversees the daily operations of Code One Training Solutions and plays an integral role in program development. Rich also instructs many of the programs offered at Code One sharing his experiences as an Emergency Department nurse and as an EMS provider. He is based out of Code One’s Charleston, SC training center.
