Go see Amber! I have never written a review before on Unilocal,and I’ve always hopped from stylist to stylist, but Amber has now cut my hair twice and I’ll go to her as long as I’m less than two hours away. She is friendly, interesting, and phenomenal at personalizing haircuts. I’d recommended her to anyone, and based on my experience, especially to men.

I have been here a couple of times for haircuts. Each time was pretty awesome and my last cut with Amber was also great.
I went recently for a balayage. This was my first time pretty much doing anything drastic with my hair, color wise, and I was pretty nervous. I showed photos of my ideas to the stylist and she stated that it would depend on how my hair would take the color and that another stylist would consult with me and then tone it to get it to what I want the color to be.
The stylist first doing my hair was great and kept me pretty well informed throughout the whole process. When she finished and set me by the heat to let the color process, she let the other stylist know that she was finished with me.
The other stylist seemed rushed and like she did not want anything to do with me and had the first stylist wash and tone my hair.
Finally, the other stylist washed and dried my hair with zero discussion whether I was happy with the outcome or not.
She showed me the back and I was kind of concerned with how light my hair came out and how brassy it seemed but didn’t want to take up any more of her time since as previously mentioned she seemed rushed.
I’m kind of disappointed because I really liked moshi moshi and my prior experience there, which was why I chose to come here for this treatment. I don’t know whether i scheduled at a wrong time or what, but I don’t think I will be coming here for color treatments in the future.

I visited Moshi Moshi last week and was overwhelmingly impressed. I was greeted kindly upon arrival and welcomed by the bright fun atmosphere in the room. My appointment was with Catlin and she proved to be a gracious host.
Exceptional training and whimsical décor make me feel like I’m in the right place. The salon is well designed with the customer’s comfort and accessibility a priority. They have an amazing selection of premium hair products and feature an ATM to make tipping easy for clients. I was able to park on-​street right in front of the shop and the meters take cards, which is a big plus.
I felt like I looked exactly how I’ve always wanted to look when I left and that was a huge relief. Thank Gawd for a place that gets me. I will DEFINITELY be back and will tell ALL my friends about it.

I can’t remember ever having to come home and wash my hair and re-​style. Seriously, I had high expectations based on the reviews or maybe I had a stylist who would understand my hair. I came for a simple wash and style and I ended up with the worst experience ever! Sorry — I didn’t want to post this review but wanted to warn those of you who are used to city standards in hair salons. Take my advice and see your stylist before you come to town!

Been going to Moshi Moshi for years. Why? The quality of cuts there is always consistent. Service is outstanding. The shop is clean and the employees are all friendly. Definitely a step above most salons and with their on-​line booking I can book months in advance and not miss a cut. I would be comfortable recommending any of their stylists. Superb. And the shop is super cute with all kinds of great products. Bonus — close by the Mediteranean Deli for dinner before or after!

I can’t remember who did my hair but she was excellent! I told her what I wanted and she did it. At first I thought maybe she cut it too short but every day I love it more and more. They know what they are doing here! I live in Phoenix and am sad this is all the way across the country.

Well although I feel bad to give a bad review I still wanted to. I did have a good experience with my hairdresser last time at Moshi Moshi, but this time I really want to complain about the reception. I made a call to them to reserve a seat and request a feedback about the exact time and date to my email or phone call. HOWEVER, they did not reply. I called back the next day and asked if they sent me email or not, apparently I did not receive any. They just easily said Oh no it might be the wrong email address (I let them confirm every letter I called on the phone!!) Then I asked why they did not give a call instead. They just forgot for no reason. I asked them if I could come right now, they said I couldn’t because it was all booked up! So I could not imagine how the reception make the schedule and take care of a customer!!! I asked them to reschedule an reservation the other day and give me a call to confirm. THEY NEVER DID IT THE OTHER DAY! Well, time to say NO for good. Really bad reception service!

I can’t express enough how great this place is! I got my hair colored and when my hair didn’t take the original batch of dye, thy didn’t charge me and fit me in the next day when all problems were solved. I love my hair and will definitely get my hair done exclusively at Moshi Moshi from now on!

I got a cut and color with Katie and it was just fantastic. I came in with photos and an idea of what I wanted and she was able to give me that and more!
High level of expertise, great communication and great vision for what’s best for me! She always explains what she’s doing and makes me feel like I’m part of the process.
When you find a great hairdresser, you’ll cross mountains to stay with them. I’d cross the Alps for her!

Best haircut ever by Catlin. Fast, fun conversation, wine and no BS about trashing the last stylist who cut my hair.
I don’t like to sit in the stylist’s chair for an hour staring at myself awkwardly in the mirror and here I didn’t have to. Her talent and confidence were obvious and impressive.
I also got my cookie waxed pain free by Caroline and love my brows.
Thanks guys. Great all around experience.
I made an appointment for color next week after an honest and simple consultation.

less than pleased with my haircut. Was inclined to try this place because of the great reviews on Unilocal.It was average-​priced ($ 42) but it was not worth it in my eyes. My haircut ended up being choppy and uneven. They were really nice and the studio was cute but I will not return.

how have none of these other reviews mentioned what a deal this place is?! Everything ran on time and I got a great hair cut for a very reasonable price. I will definitely be back here.

I have been having my hair cut at Moshi Moshi since it’s inception. As someone who works in the beauty industry, I approach any new establishment or product with some wariness. I must say that I’ve never been disappointed on either count by this salon. I’ve had an extremely wide variety of hairstyles over the years – and some drastic alterations in color as well, and I have never been anything but delighted. Also, like any salon worth it’s salt, they will happily make alterations for you for no additional charge if you decide afterwards that the end result is not exactly what you had In mind. After all, they’re hair stylists, not psychics.
The atmosphere is so fun and uniquely stylish that it’s hard for me to leave when my service is over, and the product selection is also cutting-​edge and of amazing quality. I see and buy products there that often show up in «best of» features in magazines months or years later.
All that being said – and again, as someone who has spent decades in the beauty industry – reasonable people know that no one establishment or product is going to suit everyone (if you’re normal you chalk that up to experience), and some people simply can’t be made happy no matter what. It seems the latter type enjoy leaving ranting reviews online more than anyone else (the ranting part being your first clue).
Unilocal asks if they’re good for kids, I’d say leave you’re kids at home in general, but if you’re child is old enough to be left alone and take care of him/​herself, it should be ok. I think the owner actually has written about this on the website since she has a kid of her own.

This is the most awesome salon in the Triangle, if not the world. I’ve always had a great time there because the stylists are always super cool and excellent at what they do. Sometimes I’ll just sit down in the chair and say «whatever you think will look good is cool». Sometimes I just give very little direction, like «just make it short and cute» or «I’m trying to go longer this season.» I’m always happy with the result. If I feel like it needs a little tweaking after I’ve washed and styled it at home, I know they will gladly do it, although I think maybe I’ve done that once in 10 years.
I recommend Moshi Moshi to anybody who’s new to the area – recently a cousin from New York – and they’re always thrilled. I’d never willingly have anything done to my hair anywhere else.

I love this salon. I took my daughter, the stylist listed to her and when my daughter said she was growing out her hair and to please take only what was necessary. It’s the first time she’s gotten a stylist who listened. That is a precious thing — to have a teen happy with a stylist’s ability to keep it at a ½ inch!
I’m going in next week for a trim as I also like my hair long!

everyone is very personable and talented! they really mean it that you can move around the stylists’ chairs until you make a match. Kristen and Sierra are my current ladies :)

Karma. I’m quite sure it was someone’s good karma that brought me into this quaintly kitschy Japanese-​themed salon earlier this year. Once inside, I marveled at the array of quality hair products on the wall and the casual, unpretentious atmosphere.
And then there’s the automated tea service machine. Score.
I have red hair. And I’m in my forties, which means I have red hair, but only about 50% of it is red. Wanting to keep my red hair natural with a touch of pizzazz, it’s important to me that the stylist I am handed over to knows a thing or two about red hair.
So the owner recommended Amber. I was a bit skeptical, as Amber is sort of blonde (or is it brownish blonde?), but hey, Moshi Moshi had great reviews and I really liked the vibe in there.
Let me say — no one, and I mean no one — has managed to provide me the perfect natural red except Amber. I’m not one for trendy hair, but Moshi Moshi handles these trends with flair and the stylists listen when you describe what you want.
So I even trusted Amber to balayage me, which I’d never heard of and couldn’t pronounce properly for weeks. Nope, I don’t live under a rock, I just don’t follow trendy hair. I do follow trendy shoes. Pick your battles.
But back to Moshi Moshi and Amber… my locks are a lovely, healthy, natural red with wonderfully subtle high and low accents. Thank you Amber and balayage. Oh, and she also knows her way around a fantastic hair cut. Layers are my friend. Who knew?
I couldn’t be more delighted. This is a marvelous salon. Super kudos to Moshi Moshi and Amber.

My experience here was great! I’m very picky about having my hair colored and have had terrible experiences at other salons. I was devastated leaving my stylist in San Diego, but thankful to have found Amber!
If you’re willing to spend a bit more money, I suggest using ambers services. She knows what she’s doing and definitely listened to what I wanted. My highlights turned out to be a little darker than I wanted, but she was right when she said it would lighten.
She provided great service and has a great sense of humor. She made me laugh the whole time!

I love moshi moshi! I was in dire need of a haircut in the triangle area and Moshi Moshi seemed nice and not too expensive. I did the online booking and was randomly set up with Jess. When it came time for my appointment, I made it to the cute salon on Franklin quite easily. The only problem is parking — you have to find something on the street, and it’s not free til after 5pm.
There is a nice girl that checks you in and manages the cash register/​booking appointments. I waited for only a short while in the front. The salon itself is adorable and has a cutesy Japanese theme that fits really well with the atmosphere. Very hipster chic vibe.
Jess turned out to be an amazing stylist that was extremely accommodating. I’ve gone 4x already and I have always left Moshi Moshi well satisfied with the cut.
Tip: Free bang trim for their clients!

I am writing this review on behalf of a Unilocal-​less friend who wanted to note their satisfaction as a Moshi Moshi customer.
She went here and had her hair cut by Karen. She always wanted bangs and always asks hair stylists if they think it’s a good idea– and they always passed but Karen was up for it! And she made them look phenomenal and my friend has received many many compliments on her hair cut. She liked the business a lot and will be certainly going back to Karen!
