Specialties
In Good Hands provides two services: a dog walking service and a dog training service. The dog walking offers a 20 minute and a 30 minute walk. Our hours are from 9 – 5 Monday thru Friday. We also are happy to take care of your feline friends.
The dog training component offers in home instruction for clients who feel the need for basic obedience training, help with behavioral issues or perhaps help with a new puppy. Training is individualized to the specific needs of the dog and their owner.
As the owner and trainer for In Good Hands, I have been training and competing with my own dogs for over 15 years. Two of my dogs have
national rankings. I use only positive, reward based, science based methods.

History
Established in 2010.
Dogs have always been an intregal part of my life and after retiring from teaching, I decided to start a small business which would make good use of my considerable background with dog training. After researching the Chapel Hill area, it was obvious that there were a number of dog walking services catering to Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. And I already had been teaching at two local training centers so I knew most of the positive based instructors in the area.
So after numerous conversations with a few friends, I decided to start a business that offered both dog walking and dog training. Frequently the two components merge as I can work on something like Loose Leash Walking, while also exercising the dog. Or if I am giving a puppy a potty break, I can use some of the time to teach the puppy to sit, or wait or to target.
Both components of the business have been steadily growing. Currently I have a part time assistant who will be coming on full time in March of 2014.
