Wow, Brian is the absolute best tech! He’s just so honest and trustworthy which is hard to find in this business. That’s the most important point, now to the details.
I live in a townhouse where the heat blasts upstairs in the winter to the point where we have to sleep with a fan on upstairs. After messing around with dampers at first I could only find one but then found another in a very tight and hard to reach place which for some reason was taped down by the builder. I called around a few places and finally settled on Mannix as they seemed to have the best customer service and were able to schedule an appointment immediately on New Years Eve. Unlike other places, they seem to have a great system set up with a dispatch and they call you 45 min prior to arrival. The first tech that came by, Tom, was honest and after looking at the issue, he found that the damper the builder installed was broken and not functioning so I would need to either install a new one or do something like zoning which would be more complex. What made it difficult to assess was again the poor design of my town home and how remote of a location the damper and vents were. Instead of giving me a half-​ass quote and BS’ing me, he said he’s going to have Brian look at it since he would know the best solution being more of an expert. He then took pics of the situation and told me Brian would take a look or come by to provide a better assessment. Off the bat you could tell they weren’t about making money as much as they were in finding the best solution.
So then Brian comes by, quickly diagnoses the issue, and then repairs the issue in his own time. Brian was very informative, provided detailed descriptions of the issue and how he remediated it. I was just so impressed in how honest he was and providing a solution that didn’t cheat me when he easily could have.
You may think I’m over exaggerating when I say he was honest and trustworthy but I am not. I was so impressed with his dedication and diligence to my issue that I offered him a sizable tip which I felt was fair and well deserved. However, Brian would not accept. I then proceeded to insist and even hassle him to take it and he just would not. I mean who does that now days!!! Good honest people, and that’s what Brian and the folks at Mannix seem to be. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone and will do so to all my friends and family!

Pretty good courteous service. Get to the root of the problem. Rate might seem a bit high initially, but when you start looking at the details, its close to what other plumbers offer and may be a bit cheaper. You also get great customer service and assurance that the work is guaranteed and they will come back and resolve if there are any issues.

The HVAC tech (Brian — hard not to forget) was spot on with trouble shooting the issue which turned out to be a bad circuit board with our furnace. As it was not allowing out pilot to cut back on once temps were reached (without being manually re-​piloted). He was extremely knowledgeable (as one should — right?) and explained all the parts within the unit and answered all my questions. I feel like I’ve gain some knowledge on furnaces after talking with him. Mannix was in constant communication from the very beginning and during the call while Brian had to run to another service call while the part was being ordered/​delivered by one of his associate. Once the part was delivered the tech said Brian was on his way back (which wasn’t long after that). Install was quick and our furnace is back online just in time for another cold night. I am extremely pleased with the over all service — I will definitely give them a call again should I ever have to.

Just had these guys install a whole new HVAC system and electrical panel, and they were great. They gave me a very reasonable price, were able to install the equipment quickly and appropriately, and they installed quality equipment (Trane and Square D in my case). I recommend them highly.

Today was the second time we called Mannix. The first time was in the fall of 2013, for our annual fall maintenance. The technician Eric R. was pleasant, on time, and very helpful. The service and recommendations were excellent and we definitely knew we’d be calling them again in the future.
Today, being a hot day in July and our AC wasn’t blowing any cold air. I called Mannix and they were able to get someone out to take care of it the same day. Again, the technician Bill A. was friendly, and on time. He went the extra mile and gave great service for a very reasonable price.
We will definitely be calling them again and plan to check out their maintenance plans in the future.

I have used Mannix 3 times so far. 2 years ago they fixed a broken thermostat, then for a fall checkup, and the other day they replaced a bad capacitor on the compressor.
They came out very quickly every time, even in the middle of a heat wave when they must have been swamped, and they diagnosed and fixed the problems within half an hour.
This last time the owner himself Jerry Mannix came. He said they were so busy he was taking some calls himself. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I kept asking him all sorts of questions and he took the time to answer all of them patiently. The other techs were all professional and had a good attitude.
I would highly recommend Mannix for any heating/​AC problems, they are way better than the big-​name companies with the non-​stop ads on TV.

Make no mistake — this is a great company! I called them recently for an afterhours problem, left a voicemail, and got a call-​back in minutes from the admin lady on site asking if I needed emergency service or if it could wait til morning (I told her it could wait). Then ten minutes later, I got another phone call from an actual technician who talked to me for a bit. It’s always nice when a company cares enough to respond quickly AND follow up.
The next day I received a prompt visit and had my issue solved. The tech was very honest and thorough about my options — didn’t try to con me into saying I had more of a problem than I did.
I was impressed and will use them for my bi-​annual HVAC service. As far as quality of service, responsiveness and honesty, the only comparable business I have seen in the NOVA area is Bradham Auto in Alexandria. A high compliment from me!

I have used Mannix HVAC in the past. They never fail my expectation. They respond to my call fast and send someone over usually within a day. Every person who have come to my house is professional and clean. I appreciate that they automatically use their «orange» booties to cover up their shoes without me asking. The price is competitive or better depending on the service. I’ve called around a several places and had people come for estimates. I always choose Mannix even if the price is a little more (but usually lower) because I know I can depend on them for after-​service. Everyone is knowedgeble and seems happy working for the company. It’s hard to find a reliable and professional service company that offers good service and good price. I recommend this company to all my friends and neighbors. Love the ORANGE people!

After having two HVAC techs from separate companies out to diagnose our furnace issues, my girlfriend looked on here and found Mannix. She emailed him, received an email and follow up call from Jerry Mannix right away. Upon asking how much it would cost to come out, Jerry said there would be no service fee or «trip charge» if he came and was unable to fix the problem. Jerry came out, looked at our furnace, and knew right away it could be two issues. He quickly narrowed it down to the root cause, and explained both how the system should work, and why it wasn’t working properly. Jerry was VERY knowledgable, and was much more polite, courteous, professional (he even wore boot covers while inside our house that he removed and replaced when he came in and out) and fair on price than one would expect. We were extremely pleased with Jerry and the superior service he provided, and will have his card handy for any future issues of our own, as well as to hand out to friends and family.

had a issue with my furnace short cycling. paid the $ 100 diagnostic and was told the issue was with my digital thermostat. I was charged $ 135 for a thermostat that retails for $ 46. 150% percent markup on a part is just simply wrong

I initially went with Mannix because the guy who used to service my AC (Daniel) moved to this company because «It’s a better company and they treat their employees welll». Companies that treat their employees well usually have better employees :) So I stuck with Daniel at his new company and was glad I did.
I had Mannix out to my townhouse twice shortly before I moved out — once to replace the AC compressor and once to do a routine maintenance for home inspection.
The compressor replacement went very smoothly, it wasn’t Daniel but I was very happy with the service, work and cost.
For the routine maintenance there a little confusion, again not Daniel, very nice guy though, however he thought he was doing a heating maintenance — maybe an assumption since it was in September. He asked me to turn my heating way up… err why? Anyway, once cleared up he requested some bleach to clean out… something. Luckily I had some but that’s only because I had a bunch of ‘weird’ cleaning stuff in preparation for move out. Maybe holding back a star for not having bleach is a bit harsh and maybe he would have had it if he had known he was there for AC not Heat maintenance — my point is just that I shouldn’t have to provide «supplies».
Shortly after I got a service call from Jerry. I was so surprised that a company owner would go out of his way to make sure new customers are happy that I actually didn’t believe he was who he said he was and thought maybe he was from Daniel’s old company and i was going to get him in trouble for ‘stealing customers’ or something! I was kind of a tool. Jerry, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry! Keep up the excellent service :)

This was the tenth place I called to obtain an estimate to install a whole house humidifier, but it should have been the first! I was loosing hope until I spoke with Celeste, who was not only friendly but she answered all my questions and concerns! A free estimate was scheduled and the price was very reasonable. Jorge explained everything in detail. It took approximately 2 hours to complete the installation. The tech was professional and left the area clean. It is extremely difficult these days to find a company and it’s employees that can provide quality customer and professional service, and display a genuine pride in their job. Base on my experience with Mannix, I intend to use and recommend them for future jobs!

I am amending my review: they get bumped up for their courtesy and improved timeliness when scheduling for a replacement!
Not timely about getting in touch to schedule and took two days to fax an estimate to my mgmt company when they said they would call same day.

My electrical engineer executive husband selected Mannix to replace our aged heating and cooling system. I witnesses its installation by seasoned professionals. We were pleased with Mr. Mannix’s analysis of our home and his case for the financial, technical and improved comfort resulting from the investment.
