The kickboxing classes give you such a good workout! And each class is different. The instructors and people are friendly and helpful. The facility is spacious and clean too.

Such an awesome workout and the coaches definitely know their stuff. It was a bit intimidating at first but everyone is friendly and motivate you to do your best. Definitely looking forward to my next workout!

Staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. The workouts are great and gets you towards your goal of getting fit. I have been doing it for a week and I plan to keep going. If you’re looking for a place to get in a solid workout, a great team to workout with, and professional and friendly staff, youre at the right place.

This is my first ever experience with a gym of this kind. My boyfriend has been encouraging me for years to try something outside of my usual zumba/​weight liftng routine (truth be told, I haven’t had a workout routine in a while, but still… zumba is where it’s at). We recently relocated to the area and are game for anything. We looked at a couple of gyms and decided because of the Groupon that we’d give Team Octopus a chance.
First impression was that everyone was really sweaty. I guess that’s a good sign. After a week we signed up for a year long contract. So, we liked it. The instructors are very friendly and the owner takes the time to speak to us whenever he sees us, it’s nice feeling included. The kickboxing class is really less technique and more cardio. Watch out for Mark on Fridays, he aims to leave you extremely breathless/​tired/​worked out. But he does it all with a smile on his face and he’s friendly! I’m pretty out of shape, but I find that I enjoy the torture.
This week I took a Muay Thai class and I really like the instructor. He’s a little soft spoken, so it’s kind of hard to hear him over the noise of the gym, but he does focus a lot of technique and reminded us we needed proper gear if we are going to take this seriously. I have to try BJJ, but the BF has taken a couple of classes and he seems happy (he has some previous experience at other gyms so he would have an idea).
The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because everyone is so sweaty (heck, I’m super sweaty) and I wonder how often they clean the mats. I’m not saying or insinuating they don’t, I simply don’t know. But all that sweat worries me (read: all my sweat). I’ll probably ask and report back!

Big and well maintained gym. I’ve trained at many gyms and martial arts facilities and I have to say, this one ranks high on my list. The instructors are fantastic and knowledgeable, the staff is inviting and friendly, and the group I trained with seem to have a great bond with each other and are very welcoming and friendly.
The classes seem manageable (unless there is a tournament coming up, then it can get a little big) and the gym is a Traven affiliate so that’s a plus.
TL;DR — come and check it out, you’ll like it.

Great fields, great staff! Crossfit almost every weekday, keep fighting! I love our coach Dave, he is a nice and professional guy and open to any working out questions.

I started out with the Groupon and recently became an official member. At first, I felt intimidated walking into the gym alone, but everyone here is super inviting and helpful (members and coaches)! I have been taking boot camp and kickboxing for a little over a month now and love it! The coaches are great! They push you, but they aren’t like drill sergeants. I love how the coaches are all passionate about fitness and well trained in the classes they teach. There is plenty of space in the gym and it is clean. Overall, I feel stronger and healthier since working out here.
If you’re considering Team Octopus I’d definitely consider the Groupon (great deal!!!). You will never be able to go back to LA fitness after!

Kickboxing is something I tried for the first time today. Friday night experience Highly recommend, especially classes led by Mark It was challenging yet fun, overwhelming yet energizing, and I left feeling stress-​free Team is friendly and very personable But yes, so … Mark is A W E S O M E… Coming back next week after work for sure!

I don’t typically like to leave bad reviews, but i thought it was time that someone be honest on here. They give you a free shirt to write a good review on Unilocal,Facebook and Google +. The kickboxing instructor told me that he had been going there for a few months when the coach they had quit and he was asked to take over in a hurry. Poor technique and no attention to detail. The owner never even speaks to you when you say hello. I got a fungal infection in my feet twice while going there, and I wore socks most of the time. They don’t mop between classes. Gross.
The girl behind the desk that greets you looks very
unhealthy to be the face you first see walking in, and could answer zero technical and even simple questions about the classes. The
instructors are not professionals or even
professionally trained. Now they are jumping on the crossfit bandwagon. Go research the owner of crossfit. The place is unfortunately the only choice for the area, and the reviews are misleading as it is a reward system for a fake review. I started in boxing there and the coach was habitually late. They have since added a second boxing coach. The only friendly knowledgeable guy there was the original Salesman, and he quit shortly after I started going and made sure to tell everyone why he quit. Bad management. Good luck and hope you have a different experience than myself.

So I gave up and finally joined Team Octopus. I cannot believe it’s been over a year since I first tried and still love it till this day. I finally canceled my LA Fitness membership a few months ago due to lack of good classes, I get bored with same routine, lack of good instructors, I’m tired of following them around, only to not feel appreciated, I know it’s business but I am wasting a lot of my time and money.
Third time is definitely a charm. First time, I tried it was in December 2013. I loved it so much but I just recently got a LA Fitness membership. Then I bought the Groupon and went back in July 2014. I remembered how much I loved kickboxing. Now in May 2015, I came back and am a member.
Before making that decision, I did visit many other martial arts gyms for kickboxing. I can say that Team Octopus gives you the best workout compared to the other gym. Not only that, they have the most variety of times available for you to workout from 6 am until 7:30 pm so no excuses! Plus the gym is huge. Other gyms I’ve checked out is only half the size. Or their kickboxing area is very small. The gym is very clean and maintained very well. Staff is nice. I have to say that I love their t-​shirts, it’s stylish. I got one and looking forward to the new ones coming out next month! Monthly prices are standard compared to the other gyms, actually a little cheaper if you ask me and you get more times to work out. Location may not be convenient to everyone since it’s located in Chamblee off Peachtree Industrial Blvd.
It’s been a week since I joined and I don’t regret my decision. I miss kickboxing. I love kickboxing. I had a great workout. If you know me, I don’t sweat much but kickboxing sure makes me really sweaty and I always feel accomplished when I’m there. Best workout ever.
Besides Kickboxing, Team Octopus also offers other classes like Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), CrossFit, Kids Jiu-​Jitsu, Mix Martial Arts (MMA), Muay Thai, & Speed & Agility.
I am seriously so glad I am finally a member. No regrets.

Big gym with a personal feel. Big enough to have everything you need, but small enough to not feel like you’re lost in a crowd.
Team Octopus (there is a huge cephalopod mural on the back wall) does CrossFit with a form first mentality. Too often people get injured doing CrossFit because they push hard without the proper training on form and timing of the movements. David’s coaching fixes that. He focuses first and foremost on getting the moves right and modifying until you build the strength and technique to do the full move.
I’d like to see more timing options for classes, but that’s a minor nitpick. David does each class himself, so you get the benefits of a consistent trainer who knows your weaknesses and how to push you. I’m there bright and early on most Monday, Wednesday, and Friday sessions. Drop by and say ‘hi’.

Super friendly and clean gym. Ive been working out for about 2 weeks now and the staff, trainers and people there are very nice and supportive. Great place for starters

I’ve been coming here now for about 1.5 months, and I enjoy it more and more! I was worried that I would be bored of the workouts by now, but that hasn’t happened.
Furthermore, everyone (instructors and students) here is really nice, so even if you don’t have a friend to come with, you won’t feel too lonely.
I’m not sure if there’s going to be air conditioning in the spring/​summer, so it could get really hot… I’m not 100% sure about this though. But if no A/​C, I guess it’ll just be even easier to sweat!

This was the best workout I’ve had in a very long time. The instructors make it fun and make you want to work hard. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a good, accomplished workout.

I really like this place! It’s a great workout that changes slightly each time you go. It motivates me to work out and I hate working out. I’m currently using the $ 30 Groupon for unlimited classes so I definitely recommend trying that out first. The people who come here are really nice and so are the instructors! It’s worth a try!

This place is awesome! My friends and I wanted to try kickboxing so we bought the groupon. After going to only 2 kickboxing classes, I decided to buy a 1 year membership. The facility is clean and the staff is extremely nice and friendly. The workout itself is pretty intense; I wasn’t exercising regularly prior to coming here, so I would say I’m in pretty poor shape. However, I’m not sore the day after (maybe I’m doing it wrong). There were a few really intense people in the class, but I would say it’s a very diverse crowd in terms of fitness levels.
I highly recommend this place! If anything, I would buy the Groupon first or sign up for the free 1 week trial since it is pretty pricey (but worth it!)

The facilities here are top notch. Very clean and we’ll maintained. All of the staff are super nice and very helpful. The classes are well run and coaches all seem like they are really there to help without judging. You can find less expensive places to train, but the quality of instruction and flexibility are here. It’s created a great all around culture. Take advantage of the free week and try everything if you’ve not done some of what they offer before.

This is one of the best facilities I have ever trained at. Modern, up to date equipment, clean, awesome staff… All levels of martial arts. Part of Roberto Traven’s Jiu Jitsu Team and an affiliate.

It all started with the Groupon and from there I was sold.
I had no martial arts training going into this. My athletic background going into this consisted of HS varsity sports, intramurals during undergrad/​grad school, and just your usual weight lifting/​running. I’m not one to try something entirely new and unknown to me without knowing someone going into it or having someone go into the new endeavor with me.
Arrived to my first class not knowing anyone or what to expect. Didn’t have the proper gloves. However, I met Koon and Jeff and they made me feel at home in minutes. They explained to me how things go, allowed me to borrow some gloves (note — they let me borrow a pair until mine came in through Amazon), taught me the very basics at a slow pace. After a few classes, I felt right at home.
Koon and Jeff are great. These guys have unbelievable backgrounds and without a doubt know their stuff. Don’t think that they’re just trying to sell you on their gym during that month trial. These guys are not a LA Fitness or sales people. All the instructors and staff here genuinely want you to be there and learn.
They have a wide variety of other classes including crossfit, kickboxing, boxing, and jiu jitsu. You can check their website for prices and more info, but I did research before signing up for the Groupon and it’s pretty consistent with other MMA gyms in the metro Atlanta area. The classes are taught in a group setting, but I know in regards to the muay thai classes, Jeff and Koon make sure to critique you and teach you proper technique individually during each class. So don’t think you will not get the proper instruction because it is taught in a group setting.
After about 4 months of going here, I don’t regret my decision at all. It’s a fun and great way to workout! I take fitness pretty serious in the sense that I do split body workouts 4x a week with a mile/​2-​mile run/​interval run at the end. Despite that, the workouts you get from muay thai training is totally different from simply lifting weights and running.
Coming here at least 3x a week and still hitting up LA Fitness definitely has helped keep me in great shape and it gives you skills to take on rude people on Black Friday. Just kidding! But really though. By the way, LA Fitness Brookhaven is right down the street from here.
2015 is around the corner so maybe they’ll have some sort of Groupon or something for you new year’s resolutioners.
