I bought a 2004 VW Convertible Turbo Beetle from this shop in March of this year. It was my dream car and after some research I thought it would be a good car. I’ve had this car in for repair every month since I bought it. I am in a repair business myself and I know the dread that comes with seeing something you’ve repaired that much.
I’ve had them do all the repairs thus far. They’re really friendly, super informative, and really nice. I just think European cars are not their specialty, and I’ve opted to take it elsewhere for future repairs. Overall, other than the crappy car, I’ve had a good experience with them. I live in Liberty Hill and they are one of few places that are close that offer repairs on European cars.
I enlisted in the Navy and I ship out in January, I will be selling my car at that point because I don’t trust it enough to take it with me, and when I asked them questions about selling it from out of state, they had answers and even offered to help me sell it. I really couldn’t have asked for more. They’re a little more expensive than some of the places in Austin, buuuuuut I’d rather deal with the people there than the places in Austin and feel its definitely worth it.

Today was my first visit to True Auto. I checked out Unilocal! reviews and found them to be very good. Since True Auto is close to my house I thought why not. I took my daughter’s car in for an alignment only to find out it needed the lower ball joint replaced. The alignment alone would have been a waste of time and money. The price was competitive. They said they even found the parts cheaper and saved me a few bucks. The car is now running smoothly.
The only thing I would not give an A on is the fact that when I pulled out my credit card I was informed there would be a 3% charge for using credit. Don’t most people use credit when it comes to repairs that are $ 300 and up? Don’t most businesses build this into the their fee schedules? There went the savings on the parts and then some. Just be aware of this when you go in. Yes they have it posted but it is posted on a wall with about 2 – 3 other full pages of general information. No one’s going to read that. I wasn’t even aware of it until the female employee mentioned it. I had to look all over the cluttered walls to find it. It needs to be on the door along with the credit cards accepted sign.
The work was done satisfactorily and I now know my daughter’s transportation is once again reliable. So, I will most likely come back in the future but I will bring ca$h if at all possible.

We are so happy to have found True Auto. We are new to the area and truly feel like we hit the jackpot with this business! Honest service work, good people, and they know their stuff! Before I even went in the first time, they diagnosed one of my car’s issues over the phone and it was something I was able to fix myself. (How awesome is that?!) Most recently, we dropped my husband’s car off for an oil change and they diagnosed one of his «annoying» car issues just by the description. Dave knew exactly what was causing the issue and told us what to do to take care of it. No need for «we’ll take a look and let you know.» I just love this place. Take your car here. You will be happy you did. :)

We bought a 2005 Ford Freestyle from True Auto at the end of August. They told us repeatedly what great mechanics they were but when it came to the inspection, several things had not been addressed (i.e. needed new tires, oil leak, out of alignment, wiper motor inoperable). David did repair some things but refused to acknowledge that the tires had dry rot. We should not have bought the vehicle at this point but we did. BIG MISTAKE. That week the A/​C unit barely functioned and then the transmission went out. David said he’d replace the transmission at «cost» — but at a cost of $ 4,000 to us! How could we trust him to do a major repair like the transmission if he can’t even diagnose minor problems accurately? We later found out that these vehicles have a known issue with the CVT transmission… something We think a mechanic should know about. We also learned after we purchased the vehicle that there had been recent repairs to the transmission — we should have known that before we bought. We have asked him repeatedly to take the vehicle back but he has refused. Don’t buy a vehicle from True Auto.

I would just like to say I recently went there with my vehicle and it was in very bad shape. I decided to sell it and buy a car from true auto sales. Everyone was so helpful and honest about everything. I will continue to give them my services for all my auto needs and recommend them to friends.

Despite the appearance, this place is on the level — and above. My Mother went in to have some scratches on her 15 year old car taken care of. And in just a few minutes on the spot, they did a great job of eliminating them and charged her nothing! She was thrilled — and wanted to pay something — but they would not have it.
We will be back — just because of their kindness and professional nature.

I can’t say enough nice things about Dave, Carmen, Dustin, and Rebecca. Every time I have used True Auto they go the extra mile to research my problem to make sure they find the best price on parts, make sure there are no recalls and take time to explain everything to the auto repair deficient like me. They always welcome me with a smile and warming, almost like sitting in a living room talking to family. They all go out of their way to make a difficult situation better. Family owned businesses are the best way to go in my opinion and this family owned business is at the top of the list!

I’ve been here three times, this being my third and I would go no where else in this area.
First time A/​C: jiffy lube told me my ac was blown $ 1,200 repair… true auto realized it was low on coolant quick and cheap fix
Second time brakes: coming home my brakes started dragging and grinding, being distraught I didn’t realize what time it was and dropped in… they got the parts, then stayed 30 mins after closing to make sure I was good to go
Most recent water pump: my corolla started chirping when I accelerated, getting louder and louder over the course of a week with my ac producing a coolant smell… water pump was leaking… the guys at true auto diagnosed it and explained why, how, and how much in plain English with no hidden fees/​charges
The people here are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I never have felt pressured to obtain a service that wasn’t needed, and I always walk away more knowledgeable of my own vehicle. I will definitely be getting my brakes done here in the next month.

I went in for an oil change, and I will definitely be back. They appear to be very honest and reasonable. Very friendly staff…

I went in for a timing belt change. I had time constraints which they were able to meet, and they also gave me a much better price than the dealership thanks to Rebecca.

yup just gonna echo what’s already here and just add that i got a front end alignment and a window regulator changed out in about an hour

This is a great shop, probably some of the most honest mechanics I’ve met to date. We have several high end vehicles, and like to keep them in great shape. David and crew make sure all our cars are in superb running condition.
This is the first shop I have ever been comfortable sending my girl alone, and no they won’t take advantage.
Just good honest people.

Customer service is excellent. Owner David is very respectful toward female customers – not condescending like you sometimes find with mechanics. Everyone I met in the shop is a class act. They get your car in and out ASAP; do thorough work; and charge fair prices for parts and labor. Cost me just under $ 500 (including parts and labor) to do all four brakes. I believe this establishment lives up to its name. They are true-​ly worth Unilocaling about. I intend to stick with this garage for future repairs.

Great experience with True Auto Sales & Service. I was referred to David from a friend who trusted him as an honest and fair mechanic. I brought my beloved Blazer in when my engine overheated last week. Let me clarify that I really love my Blazer — my little two-​door SUV is my dream car. Last Friday after once of the recent ices my car overheated early in the morning. The lights dimmed and nothing was responding. My heart sunk. I brought her into Dave, pretty much knowing that I’d blown a head or worse. To my dismay, the news was indeed bad — I needed major overhaul on my engine.
The owner gave me solid advice on fixing my car. I trusted his opinion and I was thankful he was so informative and honest, as well as not speaking to me in layman’s terms. Ultimately I decided to keep my car and fix her up. Since she would be there a few days, I requested the brakes be done as well. My rear struts were broken as well (the device that keeps the hatch open in the rear to load and unload) and I’d had issues with my windshield wipers.
When all was said and done, I felt like I got a practically brand-​new car back. The rates were very fair. The owner was so thorough with my car and I feel like he was attentive with the tiny details — even showing me the bolts and tubing that had come out of my car. He walked me through everything he did and gave me a complete parts lists with my receipt. He also showed me the bad parts taken off my car, so I could really understand the damage that had been done. This was not only interesting, but it’s also comforting to witness the decay of the parts with your own eyes. I already trusted Dave, but still it’s nice just to see it for yourself.
There was nothing wrong with the wipers — turns out I had been buying the wrong blades. My windshield has a curve to it (who would have thought?) and David demonstrated to me why the wipers hadn’t been working. Funny that I’d had the car looked at twice about the wipers and no mechanic had been able to tell me what was wrong with them. I had been told to buy a whole new motor for it at one point. After leaving True Auto (with my new, and correct, blades) my windshield wipers work perfect. He also improved the force and reach of the fluid spray — not sure how he did that but I wasn’t charged for it. Thank you, David!
Overall I can’t say a bad thing about this place. I will definitely be back in the future. It’s hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust — and it’s a relief that there’s one just around the corner!

Just like their name implies (True Auto) is true to their word. They have been repairing both of our Fords whenever they need it, and previously when we had a Honda, they kept it running in tip-​top shape too.
My wife, Kimberlee, and I both love this shop — and the people who run it. David and Carmen are such warm hearted, honest people that it make sense that their company would treat people fairly.
Since Kimberlee is a Singer/​Songwriter/​Speaker we never know how far we will need to travel for a live performance, TV News show, or radio interview. Thus, it is very important to us that we maintain our vehicles to keep them running smoothly.
Having a car repaired requires so much trust that the shop is telling the truth about what needs to be repaired and not inflating the cost or list of repairs needed. This is why it made my wife and I so happy when we found True Auto.
We appreciate Ray and all of the staff at True Auto. The people make all of the difference. This is the kind of family owned and operated shop that everyone wants to have services from.

If you are looking for HONEST, personable, and reliable service, True Auto is THE only place to have your car serviced — even if you have to drive to Cedar Park from Austin. Believe me, the owner Dave, is the greatest guy in CP. He tells it to you straight. Ray, his right hand man, is also one of the greatest guys — always greets you with a smile even on the phone. You can hear it in his voice! Dustin, número uno mechanic, is efficient and thorough. I sold my last vehicle to Dave for a fair price. Thr four years my daughter was in college in OK, True Auto maintained her Civic every time she was home on break. I would drive 100 miles to have these guys take care of my car. Carmen, Dave’s wife, has a heart of gold and keeps those boys in line! No really, they do fine on their own. This is what a family own/​run/​managed business should be. They set the bar pretty high for other servicing shops. Do NOT pass this place by! Drive right in and I promise, you will not be disappointed.

I always take my car and truck here. Like the other reviewers, I have found these guys to be fair and honest. They always give me an estimate upfront and perform the work in a very timely manner. Their prices on parts and labor are extremely reasonable. They have worked on both my car and truck with work including: ac replacement, serpentine belt replacement, temp control knob fix, and cam phaser replacement. They fixed an alignment issue that other shops were unable to figure out. All work was completed in a timely manner and at reasonable rates. I highly recommend.

I LOVE this place! My most recent visit was for an oil change, one that we were trying to get done before leaving town. After a thorough job on the oil change, so thorough that they were helping us after they should have closed shop, we were ready to head out of town. When closing the door to leave, the window fell inside the door. I was a little less than cool about leaving town with a window open and while I was overreacting about my luck, the staff went *way* above anything I would have expected. They were so helpful and calm. They took apart our door, screwed a wooden block to hold it up, and even helped us look for alternative ways to get out of town. We left with a window that would stay closed on our drive and were not charged a penny for the window fix. What a great place!

This place came highly recommended to me. The guy who recommended it said they are very trustworthy and honest and wouldn’t overcharge me. I went today to have my car fixed, so I am basing this review on today only. I felt like they were very honest and fair with me. He explained everything and at the end even took off the cost of one of the diagnostic tests. He also didn’t charge me for the entire time my car was there, but I could tell from the bill that they truly only charged me for the time they spent actually working on the car.
It ended up costing less than I thought it would based on previous experience at other repair places.
He also gave me lots of tips about my car and cars in general. I felt he went out of his way to be helpful to me.
It is a family owned place. His wife and son were working there too, which I liked.
