Express Oil Change & Service Center

Highly impressed… went to get an oil change today when a few minutes upon our arrival the technician/​assistant manager of Express Oil Change & Service center said, «Ma’am your oil change is not due for another 2,000 miles and we are not about taking your money for services not needed.» I just stared at him speechless and then said, «Uh.okay» He then proceeded to say that «I am going to go ahead and top off on all your fluids and I’ll bring your truck around to the other side.» I said, «You are charging us for that, right?» He said, «No ma’am, this is how we want to service our customers.» Well, all in all, this experience reminded me of my dad and how he has, since we were little, been all about 110% customer satisfaction — by being people of integrity, morals and character. Anyways, this is awesome to see «why» it’s busy every time we drive by… love that they are here in Cedar Park at 200 W. Whitestone Blvd. @express_oil_change #cedarpark #texas

You just don’t find businesses are customer service like this anywhere anymore.
I decided to visit Express Oil Change in Cedar Park to get a FULL check up.
* Oil change
* Brake inspection
* Tire rotation
* Most importantly check out why my «Maintenance Required» light was on.
(I had run out of gas recently & was concerned that I had possibly caused some fuel line damage).
OIL CHANGE:
Charlie (the asst Mgr.) & Blake instantly teamed up & Blake started checking all the fluids & filters under the hood. Charlie checked the oil & showed it to me & said that it actually looked really good & didn’t need changing & that he didn’t want to charge me for something that I didn’t need.
He & Blake went about finishing up checking & topping off all my fluids. He even checked the filter inside the car! You know, the one inside the glove compartment?
Now that’s attention to detail I can appreciate. Pretty cool!
MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHT CONCERN:
While all this was going on up top Charlie had some one under my car checking for anything that looked «unusual». I guess something could have happened under there that may have made the maintenance light come on?
Then after he’d checked & double checked everything, & assured me all was in good & working order he reset the «Maintenance Required» light.
***On top of all this they (about 4 guys came over to help explain the merits of Seafoam lol) really took the time to explain to me the proper fuel additive to use for my car. Just because I randomly asked.
TIRE ROTATION:
After a thorough tire inspection Charlie said all four tires showed about the same amount of wear on them & that at this time there was no need to rotate. (again saving me even more money).
BRAKE INSPECTION:
He then had the tire/​brake guys put it up on the rack thing to inspect the brakes.
Daniel was also very honest, he checked my brakes then came in & asked me some questions like what kind of noise my brakes were making & when did I hear most often etc. then he left & came back a little while later to tell me that my brakes were actually in real good shape, that they just had some crystallization dust buildup (?) & all he needed to do was clean them.
All in all out he door I didn’t pay a thing & I came prepared to have to pay at least $ 40-​$ 50 for the oil change + whatever a tire rotation cost.
These guys were just great! It’s nice to see people that really seem to work well together & like where they work.
I will definitely be coming back here for anything I need for my «it’s new to me» car!

Always great m, quick, oil change service from Charles Hammond! He always goes above & beyond and let’s me know what my cars need. He does his job perfectly every time, & always makes sure my warning lights are fixed/​off before I drive away!

My driver’s side window wouldn’t roll up during the storm yesterday. Blake, Bobby, and Charles got it fixed quickly and properly.
Then, I came back today for a transmission flush and oil change. Daniel worked on my car this time and he is very knowledgeable. You can tell he knows his stuff and really likes cars.
Everyone here is professional and friendly. Thank you for taking good care of me.

This place is outstanding!!! They solved one problem and gave me a solution for the other.

These guys are fairly priced and straight-​shooters. Over the years, I have gone to them for oil changes, inspections, and maintenance/​repairs for several different models of vehicle and they always help me prioritize maintenance or fixes and ensure the job is done right. Highly recommended!

Super quick and friendly service. There is a lobby area so you’re not sweating through the Austin seasons, and a coffee station set up. It’s not fancy but gets the job done in an efficient manner. I think I paid $ 15.50 for the vehicle inspection, and left amazed at how quickly I got out of there.

This place used to be my go-​to. Expert technicians have since left the garage side, and the oil change side has been taken over by less experienced kids (less knowledgeable than myself, even). Since ⁰²⁄₂₀₁₅ I have had three unsatisfactory visits.
1. Mechanics insisted they could dismount my PAX tires; they couldn’t. I let them learn the hard way.
2. They pulled the threads on my oil pan. I couldn’t prove it but had no leaks prior. Spent my own time repairing.
3. Brake fluid flush and fill, came back with a seized caliper. Also fixed this on my own time/​dime.
Some might go elsewhere after fewer, but I consider myself a loyal customer. I’m fact they have my van now for rotor machining and pad replacement and are charging me $ 105/​hr to do so. Sure hope they do a decent job. It sucks that I can’t give this place the 5 star review they used to have in my opinion.
I may just be using this place for the wash next door soon, although it seems the brushes and curtains of the wash have even been visibly out-​of-​shape and dirtier than normal lately.
Express Oil: please don’t mistreat your loyal customers. And please don’t lose your best technicians. The two go hand in hand. Lose one and you lose both. And please maintain your wash. I have referred a lot of people through there.

I was able to get my wipers replaced for free during my inspection, which cost $ 15.50 because there was a $ 3 off sign for inspections out front. Even better, I was able to get my car taken care of during my work break. What more could someone ask for?

Last visit not so great, left several messages to arrange to have part ordered so car could be repaired. Never received a call back. The shop lost my business.

Simply put, these guys are awesome. They always get me in & out quickly. Today I came in needing an inspection and oil change FAST! I am already running late to leave town. They told me no problem, that they could do it in 30 minutes. They discovered that my dipstick was broken so they called O’Reilly’s and had them bring it over. They’re checking the air pressure in my tires per my request and are STILL going to get me on my way writhing half an hour. I never go anywhere else… why would I?

I was tired of the long waits and terrible service I got at the Dealership just for maintenance, so I went looking on the internet for a place close by to have my oil change done. Turns out these folks were part of (unknowingly) an undercover investigation by a local news station and passed with flying colors. So needless to say, I took my car here and couldn’t have been happier! :-) My service tech Will was excellent! Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! I didn’t even have to get out of my car and was in and out within 15 minutes total. I will definitely be referring and going back myself! :-)

Third time visiting this location and not impressed. 10 minutes has now turned into 35 and they’re still «wrapping up.» 35 minutes isn’t a ridiculous amount of time to wait, in general, but it is for a place that calls itself «10 Minute Oil Change.»

Great, quick place to get minor repairs and maintenance done. I’ve been a few times and the employees are always polite and well spoken. One time they fixed my rear windshield wiper fluid line for free (the line had come disconnected somewhere so they just hooked it back together).
Another time I thought they closed at 7PM for some reason and even though I showed up at 6PM, right as they were closing the doors, the guy on duty convinced me he’d be happy to stay late (and he did!). We ended up talking as he was doing the paperwork and that’s when I found out he was the manager /​owner. I thought this was a chain, but it is owned and operated by a local family. It’s always a good sign when the boss gets his hands dirty and goes above and beyond because you know that work ethic gets passed down to the rest of employees.
I got my oil changed at Express today and got the same great service as always.

I went here on a Friday morning to get my oil changed. There were about 4 or 5 people ahead of me so the whole experience took about 40 minutes. Not too bad. Also, I had a Unilocal coupon for $ 5 off but the receipt said only 5% was taken off. It was a $ 2 difference so I wasn’t too upset but I thought that was weird.
The guy who changed my oil was very nice. He offered me another service but didn’t hassle me when I declined.
I liked how my service came with $ 5 off a car wash and $ 5 off of Smokey Mo’s BBQ. I’d probably go back!

Express Oil Change is the best in town. Not only do they do oil changes, they are a full service garage. I am impressed by their professionalism, prompt, and friendly service. It is one of the very few garages I have been to where I do not feel like I’m going to be fleeced into unnecessary and costly services. I went in for an oil change and asked them to take care of replacing a faulty battery terminal on my car, which I had previously attempted to fix myself. I presented the replacement part to Charles, the manager. About thirty minutes later, my oil was changed and the part replaced, with no extra charge!
I would definitely recommend Express Oil Change for all of your auto repair needs!

Yes the service was efficient and the guys were nice, but I probably spent more money than I needed to. My sister fixes cars, but she was busy at the time. Instead, I went here and spent over $ 200 on my car when all I need was an oil change.
I’m still wondering what the «cabin» charge is…
At least my car is running and happy.

Top notch crew and I was blown away by their honesty. Took my car in for an oil change and was told my oil was clean and I did not need to have it changed. Told them I had just driven cross-​country, was over my 3000 mile due date and definitely wanted it changed. When is the last time that happened to you? Go to a car place and be told you don’t need their service! Free vacuum machines too; no quarters needed.
They also have WiFi access in their waiting area, but they need to change the sign that contains the password from ALL CAPS to the way you have to actually enter your password in your device. Excellent place, excellent service! I’ll be back!

I’m updating my review for Express… Not only because I really appreciate the owner response to my review, and the fact that there are lots of other good reviews for this place, but because I’ve had to take my car back to the other garage we got it fixed at a couple times now, because they can’t seem to find the source of the leak. Most recently they surmised it may be the oil pan gasket, which is what Express estimated in the first place.
The other place is still much cheaper than Express, even with the extra repairs, but I feel bad now that I was so certain I was being taken advantage of based on a lower estimate and different diagnosis from another garage. I guess I’ve made it clear that I don’t know much about cars :/​
I’ll definitely be back to Express for routine service. The jury is still out on bigger stuff, and I’ll review the other garage once all of this is sorted.
But, in the meantime, I retract my two star review, and I don’t believe that Express was trying to take advantage. I think it’s great that the owner took the time to respond to this review — I think that alone should show Unilocalers that this is a business that cares about its rep and its customers.
