Finally decided to stop by and enjoyed great service with delicious food. Walked during Saturday lunch and was seated right away with my family. Ordered a steak ranchero and was surprised how good it was. Nothing overpriced and highly recommended. Even ran into a coworker, that told me «best authentic Mexican place in Cedar Hill»

Went there last Tuesday about 1:00 pm. There was 3 adults and one child. There was only 2 tables with other customers. Food was good but service was awful. We order extra flour tortillas, never brought them only tortillas enough for my daughters fajitas. Ask for cheese for fajitas was charged an extra $ 1.25 for a tiny bowl of cheese. And we were charged extra for the tortillas we never received. We ordered sopapillas for desert, waitress never took away empty plates, never asked for or brought extra iced tea. And she had a horrible attitude, like she didn’t want to be there, never a smile. And took forever to bring our overcharged check. Never again !!!

Tried PL several months ago as new neighbors. No idea about what to expect. Karaōke night took us by surprise! Was mildly entertaining, but was mostly annoyIng! Couldn’t drink enough tequila. Food was the worst we’ve encountered represented as TexMex. Sauces tasted like right out a can of tomato sauce. Seasoning was nonexistent. Tortilla chips were cold and greasy– margaritas were made with a cheap artificially flavored mixer. If you like TexMex, STAYAWAY!

What even was this food? I got the beef fajita nachos and the fajita meet tasted like Slim Jim’s.(Soy sauce?!? Why?) The chips were stale, they were chintzy on the guacamole and their red enchilada sauce is basically chili powder. I’m not sure this even qualifies as Tex-Mex, more like Tex-Mess.

I was pretty excited to stop here to get a Tex-Mex meal like I usually do on Cinco de Mayo. I got 2 orders of sopapillas and was happy when the attendant stated that he thought they gave me extra. When I got home and opened the container to see my splurge I was met with over fried-almost burnt«cracker-like» dessert. They gave me one extra sopapilla, but these should have never been served to a customer. Of course I got an extra it was probably going in the trash anyway. I decided to taste a bite of my cheese enchiladas and was surprised to find that they were beef– not the cheese I had ordered. Guess what? I don’t eat beef, so I just paid for an inedible meal. I will not be going back.

I was served a salad that had raw chicken. Not just raw, but still frozen-ish in the center. Using frozen meats is a bad sign. I sent it back, and the very same dish came out. That’s not ok — it had raw chicken on it once before. That’s just not sanitary. I poked around and found the chicken to have been de-thawed yet was still raw, a cold raw this time. Yuck. That killed it. I left some cash and walked out. Never again.

Sketchy place. Food tasted decent, but gave my girlfriend intense stomach pains and UNCONTROLLABLEDIAHRREA. I had a BOGO coupon from the entertainment book app, but the waiter INSISTED I do the 2 for 20 which was basically just 1 free queso and 2 free sodas, which I wasn’t planning to order. We were wearing our casual clothes and were still overdressed for this place. The customer demographics were mostly lower-middle class white people, middle aged to senior citizens. The whole time we were eating, there were senior citizens singing karaōke really loud. YOU’D BECRAZY to wanna eat a plate of food at «CRAZYPLATE».

The food is good and they serve large portions, so you get your moneys worth. They are closed on Mondays, hours listed above show otherwise. So Tuesdays should be a great day to kill that appetite!

I have to be honest: a lot of the food at Mexican food joints tastes the same to me. However, the tex mex at Plato Loco is a cut above. The salsa is fresh tasting and doesn’t appear to be the canned crapola you often seem to get. I’ve been there many times and have never been disappointed. The guacamole chalupas are great. Cheese enchiladas are a reliable go-to.

A distant second visit to Plato Loco after 5 years of my first! For a Monday night, it was quite busy with almost every booth populated. The salsa jug was right at the table, and warm chips were delivered in a big bowl. The salsa was very tasty with a nice strong flavor. Chips were replenished whenever going low. We ordered chicken tacos, cheese enchiladas and cheese quesadilla and nothing disappointed us. The rice was quite nice, but we skipped the beans as it had bacon in it. After our meal we were served with a house dessert called soapiyas and it was a hit! Square bread like puffs with cinnamon sugar sprinkled over them. Service was quite attentive, with water, chips filled frequently. Plato Loco is a local popular eatery and there are loyal repeating customers I could tell.

The service is always great at Plato Loco and the chips are fresh and crispy, however — everything else is bland. If you order queso, you get a bowl of velvetta-ish cheese that is melted with some paprika sprinkled on it. It has no flavor and costs about $ 4! We’ve tried many things here and while they are all edible, nothing really tastes great. The prices lately are high — $ 9 for almost any lunch on the weekends — way too high for the quality of food. We’ve never left here thinking«That was awful» but it is never«WOW» and $ 24 is too much for two people for a lunch. Items we have tried: Cheese enchiladas Beef crispy tacos Tostada Cheese soft taco Combo nacho

This place is oh so yummy good! Everything and I mean everything here is great! The food, the atmosphere! First, The Food: The flautas are great! Not to greasy like some. The fajitas are awesome! Beef as an amazing flavor, and the onions are to die for… The one dish I can’t seem to break away from is the #13… omg. queso smothers two burritos filled with rice, beans(their beans I will get to in a sec), and stewed beef tips(tomatoey stewy goodness)…*drools*… It is the best burrito eeever! Their beans have this wonderful baconie flavor to them. mmmm mmm MMM! The rice is also very good! Not hard, not to mushy, flavor is not to light or strong… just right! Omg what else… Chili Renos are HUGE and filled with cheese or beef. or you could even get… beef AND cheese. ooo mmmm :] The desserts… *makes homer gurgle* You have to get the apple pie. Its a huge chunk of apple pie sitting atop of a hot skillet. On top of the apple pie is ice cream! I can’t remember if it’s cinnamon or vanilla(it’s been awhile :[ …), but either way… deeeelish! The fried ice cream is awesome! Covered with whip cream and a cherry with lil sopapillas on the side. Yummy! :] There are so many more items on the menu that I haven’t mentioned, i suggest going every week to try it all out ;D The Atmosphere: Small, but comfortable! They even have a «patio» type smoking area. I suggest you smokers just wait it out in the main dining room(when they aren’t very busy) because they tend to forget about that little area. ;] They have just added a new stage for karaōke and for when the band comes to play(which I think is Thursday or Friday night). Very brightly colored walls(which tex-mex restaurant isn’t? ;].), very festive… Some tables are covered with the owners family photos, which is fun to look at while waiting on your food. Speaking of owners, they are the greatest! The nicest people ever! The servers are wonderful too… If you go there enough they’ll remember your usual order! ;] I used to go with my family every Friday night for like 2 years haha… Everytime I go down to Cedar Hill, me and my guy have to eat at Plato Loco ;] SO… When in Cedar Hill, TX visit this lil place! You’ll be going home stuffed to the brim and possibly in a food coma once your done ;]

Now you may be thinking to yourself, «Crazy plate? Do I really want a crazy plate? What if the thing stabs me? That sounds something like a crazy plate might do.»… but I’m here to tell you, Plato Loco is worth going to, despite any possibility of being shanked by dishware. As my profile quote suggests, I’m a big lover of Tex-Mex, and Plato Loco(to put it simply) is the best Tex-Mex restaurant around. The restaurants dinner selections is solid Tex-Mex, and while not original from any other Tex-Mex you’ll find, they are done right. There’s no weak spots here. So what, you may again ask, sets Plato Loco apart? It’s the salsa! It’s nothing less than the most mouthwatering, eye watering, make you feel funny in special places salsa I’ve ever eaten; and if that’s not enough, Plato Loco had the ingenious idea to give you a pitcher of the stuff, so you don’t have to continuously ask your waiter for more. So, the food is solid and the salsa is great. How about the pricing? And the service? Well, I’ll forgive your abundance of questions and answer… I’m pleased to say, neither of those falls short. You’ll spend just a tad under what you’d come to expect from the other(already decently priced) Tex-Mex joints in the area, and you’ll be served with kindness. In fact, I’ve never seen the place crowded in my life, so the waiters are free to focus their attention on you. Let’s just hope that the lack of crowds doesn’t mean this place is in threat of going out of business; because that would drive yours truly loco, just like those darn plates.

A favorite, local tex-mex restaurant for my family. Some of the best corn tortillas in the world. The best onions to found in fajitas. The whole fajita experience is wonderful. They have wonderful cheese enchiladas too.(Cheese enchiladas are always the ultimate test for tex-mex places.) Service is great. The hot sauce flows freely from jugs that are left on the table, and it is HOT.
