Shoreline Inn

I saw there «Hot Winter» Special of $ 135.00 a night in January so we booked. After our stay I reviewed my friends receipt and she was charged $ 175.00 a night. I called and spoke to Lenore and she said «Too late.» Advertising one price with no caveat like «Mention this special» and then charging $ 40.00 more a night to the unwary is shady at best. Lenore’s unwillingness to make it right is lowdown dirty.

Stay here every time I travel to the coast. Cayucos is a small town and everything is within walking distance from the motel. This motel is very pet friendly and right smack in front of the beach. It’s also a 20 min drive to Cambria. I love listening to the ocean waves from my room. Open your curtains and there’s the ocean.

This is our favorite Inn to stay at in Cayucos. We love the staff and especially the convenience of being right on the beach and in the cute little town — everything is walking distance. We have been coming here off and on for the past 7 years. We are regulars for New Years and finally got on the list for 4^th of July! This place gets booked up quick especially for those kinds of Holidays and Sea Glass Festival. My recommendation is that you book at least 6 months to a year in advance for special Holidays and such! I especially love the corner suite above the office which is the perfect view of the pier. Like I stated it gets booked quick so reserve early, its worth it. One more tip, sometimes you can get in on a cancellation so try calling. Love it and am looking forward to our next stay!!!

I just had a great, quiet night here while on a little road trip with my pup. Dog friendly places can be hard to find, so I was super happy to find such a dog friendly place. The view was incredible and the little room had everything I needed. My only negative would be the «stained but clean» towels for makeup removal. I understand they’re trying to be green, and probably save money too, but just think it’s a little tacky. I’m a-​ok with the dog towels being that way, but I would not even consider using a dirty looking towel on my face no matter how clean it says it is. I opted for the other option — the non-​stained towel. :)
Also just a note to anyone booking the beachfront rooms — they aren’t very private. I was on the second floor, but you’re still really close to everyone hanging out on the front lawn. So, don’t go changing your clothes with your curtains open — I guarantee someone will see you. :)

I stay here a couple times a year at least. Always comfortable and quiet. Amazing views from the beachfront rooms. Staff is always helpful. Cayucos is a amazing town, and I always love staying at th shoreline inn.

This was our 3^rd stay this year. The entire hotel is dog friendly, even the lobby at (continental) breakfast! The rooms have a fridge (small freezer too), microwave, coffeemaker. Very comfortable bed and pillows. At check-​in, you get a dog bowl and treats. The rooms have a dog towel and will have a sheet to cover the bed (our bed was made up when we checked in since they knew our Tess was coming with us). And we were given our favorite room, 131, which is upstairs in the beachfront building. And I do mean Beachfront… it sits on the sand. Laying in bed, you can see the ocean and the surf rolling in. Open the glass slider to your own balcony (there are dividers between the balconies so you have a bit of privacy), you can see to up to Morro Rock and down the coast and the pier. The pier had been closed for a couple of years due to some damage, but now it’s open, lighted at night and dogs are allowed! We absolutely LOVE it here! Hubby can surf fish right in-​front of the hotel or pier fish. He brought his pier fishing cart… thanks to Monica from Shoreline Inn for posting the photo of him with his cart! I’ll share it here.

Terrible customer service. make sure you get a name and phone number when you cancel. And don’t do anything online, your communication might get «lost» and you’ll still get charged for it. They definitely don’t believe in the customer coming first. Lost our business for good.

This was our first stay here. We had 2 rooms, one was #105 & #103. Room 105 was upstairs and had 2 king beds and a beautiful balcony that overlooked the ocean and pier. Only downside to this room was there was no couch and only a tall table with backless stools. So no where to lounge comfortably to play cards. But down stairs 103 one King and a double and a couch was perfect for just that. I loved that they had actual keys rather than cards to the rooms. There’s no air conditioning like most hotels at the coast but with the sliding doors and windows open it cooled down perfectly.
The staff was so sweet and helpful. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning had delicious coffee, variety of flavored creamers, varieties of teas and hot cocoa. Bagels, toast, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit and boiled eggs. It was perfect! I loved how dog friendly they were and provided towels for the beach or dogs. It’s located within walking distance of all of Cayucos. And they had the most lovely Adirondack chairs to lounge on outside the lobby to watch the waves.
We absolutely will be back, very affordable and comfortable.

It is cute but kind of pricey for not having a/​c and the beds were hard and uncomfortable. The view was nice but we happened to be there on an unusually hot weekend and we about melted because our room faced the sun. For 250.00 a night I think they could afford to install a/​c units in the rooms for those occasional hot days when it is needed. Other than that it was ok.

There aren’t many options to stay in Cayucos, so this wasn’t bad compared to the motels.
Book a room upstairs with a view! My friends stayed on the street side. Our room was much nicer and bigger.
It’s a pet friendly hotel which always gives me a dirty feeling from the start. The room was basic. Had a decent mini fridge, microwave, and flat screen tv. There is no ac or fan but it was in the 60s at night so it wasn’t necessary. Falling asleep to waves crashing was peaceful.
It’s walking distance from a handful of restaurants and bars. The staff is friendly. Dominos delivers until 11 or 12 on the weekends.
Make sure to return the parking placard before leaving otherwise they charge you $ 25.

I’ve been coming to Cayucos for 30 years. My grandma brought me to the Shoreline Inn first, then later I’d come back for our family reunion. Our stays were always pleasant and relaxing.
The rooms were clean, the perfect amenities were offered for the kind of group we were traveling with and the distance we were coming.
In the most recent years we’ve rented beach houses in the area because it worked well for our group.
I decided on a whim to head north from Laguna Hills, after a visit to a friend, and take my kiddos back to Cayucos. I love the town and area so much.
Having good memories and a history with The Shoreline Inn, I chose to stay there for the 2 nights we could stay.
We had a downstairs room with a partial view, which means you might have to crane your neck.
I didn’t care, we weren’t there to spend time in the room.
Once again, it was clean and had what we needed.
We discovered the beds were a little uncomfortable but dealt with it.
The real problem I had while staying there was the noise. Our neighbors above could be heard through the night, and we were woken multiple times.
I had hopes it would just be the one night but it was both. I had little sleep, and my kids were so tired.
I had a 10 hr drive home and even after pointing out the problem, hotel staff assured me I must be mistaken. They were kind enough to send a postcard and apologize for my troubles and later a voucher for $ 50 to come stay with them again.
I am disappointed by the customer service and the laughable effort to make things right.
3 generations of my family have stayed with you, Shoreline. We won’t be back.

I have never seen a motel label «stained towels for animals» hahaha! Why don’t you just put, «too cheap to buy new towels»… I’m not saying it’s not a great idea to have some junk towels around for pets but I would definitely keep them behind the front desk and offer them to guests bringing pets. To have on display seems, dirty and ghetto. Inside the room is ok, I’d sleep in the bed it was not dirty or anything. A lot of little things we’re broken. The rooms just don’t seem to be maintain and it’s an expensive room! Great view of the beach, it was nice to have the doggies with us. I’d come back here if I couldn’t find anything better that was available.

I almost didn’t want to leave a review, so that this great hotel and town can stay a secret from the masses! But sharing is caring. Great sleepy beach town and the shoreline inn beachfront rooms are the best in town! Very, very clean rooms. Views and ocean sounds to die for! Very nice beach, awesome pie store across the street and ridiculous smoked fish/​shrimp tacos around the corner. It’s always about location, location, location… and the Shoreline Inn has it!
Not much to do in town, but that’s not why you come here. Great R&R spot. Awesome hotel, the beach and good food.

What a wonderful experience. Attention to detail you can tell the staff love this place. The owners for sure know how to manage & care for their employees. And not to mention the location views ocean sounds clean air to breath. Thank you for the last couple of days of r&r!

This hotel was wonderful! We got a room with an ocean view and let me tell you, what a view. It had a patio to sit on and was maybe 20 feet from the sand. The room was very clean and modern and our housekeeper, Claudia, did a great job! I thought the idea for a slightly stained towel for pets and a washcloth for makeup remover was great, as it reuses something most people would just throw out. The breakfast was great in the morning and the staff was kind and helpful. Will be here again.

I made a reservation through
two months before my visit. I reserved an ocean room, King bed, for two. My son decided to go with us, so I contacted the hotel to see if I could get a room for three, or a rollaway bed. They said they didn’t have rollaways and no other rooms were available.
When I arrived, they refused to give me the room I had reserved, since there were three of us. I had NO where else to go; had driven here from Southern California. They told me I could go across the street, to some dump, for $ 135/​night. Why didn’t they advise me on the phone when I called saying I was coming with three adults that they would not give me the room???
I truly think the manager (short blond hair, older woman) was prejudice! Why else would they turn away a customer that made a reservation two months in advance! VERY DISAPPOINTED! WILL NEVER STOP IN CAYUCOS AGAIN!!! The town is so small with nothing there anyway. So, we drove to Pismo Beach, and were able to get a room at our favorite spot, just as nice for a fraction of the cost WITHOUT a reservation. It all worked out at the end, but I am still very disappointed that they would not accommodate me with an additional adult who could have slept on the couch. :(

I love staying here whenever I’m in cayucos. The rooms are always clean and there offer a light breakfast (cereal, boiled eggs, muffins, coffee, toast, fruits, etc). It’s truly a dog friendly place.
I love that it’s located right on the beach in Cayucos and is super dog friendly. They give you a dog bowl and cookie bones for your dogs when you check in. Very friendly customer service at the reception. You can walk to the beach with your dogs and its such a fabulous getaway from LA!

I can’t think of any place I’d rather stay than the Shoreline Inn. Located right on the beach in Cayucos, this is my idea of heaven on earth. Pet friendly to the nth degree, they give you a dog bowl, cookie bones, and a coversheet for the bed upon check in.
We’ve come here many times over the years, the latest visit being on September 30, our anniversary. It was a last minute decision. I checked out the web cam in the morning, and the weather looked so incredible, how could we resist? Lucky for us they had a beachfront room with a balcony available.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, and include free wi-​fi, a mini fridge and a microwave. There is a grassy area available for you and your pets, and a rinsing shower next to the beach for wet, sandy paws. They provide a towel in your room for drying off your pets.
REALLY, this is as close to sleeping on the beach as you can get, without actually sleeping on the beach.
