Bates House Moving is a structural moving company based in Cashmere, Washington. We provide residential and commercial structural relocation and lifting services throughout Central and Eastern Washington.

Houses and other buildings may need to be moved or lifted for a variety of reasons throughout their lives. Foundational repair may require lifting, as does basement construction. Additionally, owners may explore moving or lifting a building for the sake of structural recycling, property optimization, or for investment purposes.

Bates House Moving has been in business continually since 1937. We are committed to providing the most efficient, safest, and economical structural moving services possible.

History

Established in 1937.

In 1937 – during the midst of the Great Depression – Roy Bates was one of thousands of men constructing the Grand Coulée Dam. An industrial accident that year claimed his right arm, ending his work on the project. Seeking employment, Roy spoke with an acquaintance who mentioned that he needed a barn moved. With characteristic determination, Roy replied, «I can do it.» He gathered a team of mules, a truck, some screw jacks, and wooden beams, and he did just that. Thus, Bates House Moving was born. Roy Bates built a reputation for excellence throughout Central Washington – a reputation that has been continued by his son Don, who took over the business in 1960. Don has been moving buildings ever since.

Don has worked tirelessly for over fifty years and has moved many historical structures throughout Central and Eastern Washington and in Northern Idaho. In 2013, Don sold the business to Andy Davidson. Don remains heavily involved with Bates Hous

Andrew D.

Business Owner

Andy has experience as a General Contractor and he studied building construction in college. He has been a professional firefighter for over ten years. During his career he has trained in lifting heavy structures – such as collapsed walls, aircraft, and vehicles – to perform search and rescue. His study of fire science gives him an acute understanding of how buildings are fitted together. He and Don will build on this knowledge as Andy works to continue the reputation for excellence that Roy and Don Bates have established with their business.
