History

Established in 2000.

Chef Greg Lewis started Catering by Design as the catering side of his Italian restaurant. With the success of his catering services, he decided to focus solely on catering.

Catering by Design is a prominent Raleigh area caterer. They were awarded the Small Business of the Year Award by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. They catered the huge centennial banquet for the town of Fuquay Varina. And they’ve been chosen two years in a row to cater hospitality suites at the prestigious SAS Championship Golf Tournaments.

Catering by Design is known for outstanding service, people who really care about their customers and their events. Known for flexibility, creativity, and full service, people from as far as Pittsboro, Rocky Mount and Fuquay Varina seek their services.

Executive Chef Gregory Lewis began working in restaurants at the age of fourteen, beginning as a busboy and progressing to restaurant manager by the end of high school.

Chef Lewis’ degree is in Culinary Art from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

His career stretches over 30 years of culinary creativity and management. He was an Executive Chef for over 8 years with including the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

After the hotel, he helped to open a popular upscale restaurant in the Hershey area, establishing an award-​winning menu. From there, Chef Lewis went on to work as the Executive Chef for central Pennsylvania’s largest caterer. Working as a caterer, provided him with the challenge of creating many different and unique menus for various events.

Though Chef Lewis can boast many a satisfied customer, including actress Wynona Ryder and politician Tom Ridge, Chef Lewis and his team treat all their customers with great care.
