I was rather disappointed when I dined here. I ordered pork chop with fried rice. Pork chop did not have any seasoning. The porkchop, although tender, tasted like it has been pounded a thousand times and soaked in baking soda water. The fried rice smells rotten and old. They served the rice in to-go box, served 2 eggs in a plate and then later served fried porkchop in another plate. Service, as you can tell is already bad. I also ordered sizzling sisig. It came out to be a lechon sisig and not traditional pig ears sisig. It was served in a hot plate but it was soaking in oil. The meat only tasted like vinegar. To be fair, however, the restaurant is cleaner than neighboring filipino restaurants. I have yet to find a decent filipino restaurant around the area.

My husband is Filipino and he took me to this place with his family. The owner is very friendly and the restaurant was nice. LOTS of food to choose, good selection. Also extra rice, ISFREE!!! The food was fantastic, their sisig is my favorite. My husband loves this place. Kind of far from where we live though.

I found out about this place when my friend had her party catered by ethans. Then i went to this place yesterday and had the best sisig i have tasted! The crispy pata is mouthwatering and the kare-kare is very delectable. Cant wait to come back for more. Quality food at reasonable price!

I have always loved Filipino food and Ethan’s Restaurant is now my favorite place to go for authentic Filipino dishes! The food is very fresh and everything I’ve tried has been amazingly delicious. The staff is great and the owners are so nice, they make you feel like family the minute you walk into the shop. They usually have classic Filipino foods ready to go for take out or dining in, and they also do catering. I am recommending this place to all my friends and even ordering food for my next party! Love this place!!!

A couple of weeks ago while visiting Mamita’s Grill I noticed that Handugan Authentic Filipino cuisine was replaced by Ethan’s restaurant so I decided to come back and try it for lunch a couple of days ago. Ethan’s has the same turo-turo(food is laid out cafeteria style and you point to what you want) format as Handugan. It has about half a dozen tables to eat in, half of which were occupied during the peak lunch hour. The server behind the steam table was a little taken aback when he saw me which showed in his behavior but I’m used to dealing with this when visiting ethic places so it did not bother me. Two things stood out when going over the items in the steam table. First there seemed to be a very limited number of choices and second most of the trays seemed to be running low. I decided to get a two item combo($ 5.99) which comes with two scoops of rice and two items from the steam table. I was restricted to getting the chicken adobo and fish sinigang as those were the only two non pork items present, both of which were very carefully and individually packed, which was a welcome change from other turo-turo places where they are just haphazardly tossed on to the plate. Ethan’s also has a clean and well stocked condiments bar along the side wall which is generally not present in other turo-turo places that I’ve visited so that was another plus. Taste-wise both the chicken adobo and fish were very average. Not bad but pretty plain. The chicken adobo had a lot of grease in the gravy. I know that Filipino food is not exactly healthy but this was a bit too much even for Filipino food. Pricewise it was about 20% cheaper than Tita’s which is just across the road but Ethan’s is not even close to Tita’s in taste or variety. I was a fan of Handugan but after sampling the food at Ethan’s I can’t say the same for it. The selection was limited and the food forgettable. After trying most of the Filipino places in Carson I feel that Tita’s which is just across the road is the best turo-turo restaurant around so I doubt I’ll be back to Ethan’s in a hurry. Ethan’s is like a 2.5 star place so I’ll be generous and round that up to 3 stars.
