Specialties

Virginia Barbeque Carollton is a quick service Genuine Southern Barbeque joint offering the finest hickory smoked pulled pork, beef and St Louis cut ribs along with the freshest homemade sides in a relaxed down home atmosphere. We specialize in Fast Friendly Service, Home Cooked Taste, Genuine Southern Value!

History

Established in 2000.

We started our first Virginia Barbeque in a 100-year-old home on the main street in Ashland, Virginia in May 2000. I wanted to keep it simple, specialize in serving good food with quick service at a good price. Our goals are to branch out and grow Virginia Barbeque into a chain that is known for being a part of the fabric of the community. We want to be the place you think of when you get that desire for good old fashioned service and great tasting comfort food (like yummy smoked barbeque) that you have grown up enjoying.

We decided from the beginning that we would «keep it simple.» Only authentic freshly made side items and true wood-smoked meats would be served.

Our locations are down home Mom and Pop run restaurants with an emphasis on «Down Home!» By having local owners at each location we can insure you, our customers, the best family friendly hospitality, service and best tasting home cooked «Genuine Southern» food in your neighborhood.

Meet the Business Owner

Founder, Rick I.

Business Owner

In 1979 at the age of 14 our founder started in the restaurant/hospitality business at the bottom (in the pot washing room). Thru many years in various large kitchen operations throughout Virginia Rick worked tirelessly honing his culinary and business skills becoming an ACF Certified Executive Chef by the time he was 28. Initially Rick and wife Nina opened a catering operation that grew steadily while raising their family on 30 acres in Beaverdam, VA and in 1999 the plan was hatched to open the first of many Virginia Barbeque Company quick service restaurants specializing in serving genuine southern wood smoked meats and true southern sides.

My (Rick’s) family comes from near Mt Airy, North Carolina (in the mountains of NC) and for many family vacations we stayed the week with grandma in Lowgap NC working in the garden and canning or watching her quilting or snapping beans for canning. This created my desire to share good food with others and make sure they are always welcomed back!
