Waxing takes only a few minutes and is the least-​painful experience that I have ever had. Massages are amazing and so relaxing; I feel revitalized every time I come here. I could not recommend Monterey Bay Bodyworks more!!!

I recently moved to the area and realized I was in desperate need of an eyebrow wax. After some quick Unilocaling, I decided on this establishment and, boy, am I glad I did. It was done in less than 10 minutes, it cost $ 15, and the pain was nonexistent (yay for hard wax!). The woman, whose name has slipped my mind, was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. I have found my waxed and my brows are thrilled

Amazing! I booked an appointment for legs/​eyebrows and had the best experience. I have only gotten waxed a few times in the past, and I was worried it would hurt but Kimberly was very skilled and did a great job making me feel comfortable. We were chatting and laughing the whole time and I barely felt anything. The room had a great atmosphere and most importantly was tidy and clean :) Would definitely recommend going here for waxing.

I’ve been getting full body massages from Kimberly for several years and they are wonderful. But when my neck muscles were so tight I couldn’t turn my head is when Kimberly really did her magic. I’ve been getting two neck and upper back massages a week now for several months and I am so much better! The facilities are beautiful and comfortable and Kimberly is really personable and fun. I’ll be returning for a long time!

I have a lot of medical issues that cause pain and due to that keeps me sedentary. I could feel myself on the edge of depression and it was recommended I get a massage. I read about Kim, the owner of this spa on Unilocal.I scheduled and was extremely pleased with the atmosphere and the kindness and professionalism Kim exhibited. The fatigue I had been feeling lifted and I have noticed less pain and discomfort leading to more mobility. Definitely recommend this spa. It was worth the drive from the San Joaquin Valley to Monterey. Can’t wait till I can return. I also had a facial and my old tired face looked refreshed and smoother. It was reasonably priced and worth the drive. This one day pulled me back from the edge of depression. A road I now know, I don’t have to walk down anymore. Thank you Kim!

I have been seeing Kim for 3 years now since I stopped being able to see my bikini line when I was pregnant with my first son. Kim has kept my hair under control for 3 years.
When I started running to get back in shape after 2 babies in 2 years, she has been the best masseuse to work the kinks out. There was a point were I would get a massage every week to work out the tight SI & IT band.
Her humor and conversation is the best. It could be taken as sarcastic but she is just straight forward and tells it like it is.

I was referred to Kim through a friend. Probably one of the best massages I have ever had. I would definitely forgo the expensive spas in Carmel and go to see Kim if you want a great massage.

You might think I’m nuts, but I just had fun getting my legs waxed. Kim’s naturally buoyant personality added lightness and laughter to a normally unpleasant experience. On time, clean and quick… exactly what a wax should be.

Maybe it was bad timing, since the place wasn’t even unpacked so they probably weren’t fully staffed yet… but the website led me to believe there were several people working there at least, and when I showed up for my appointment a few minutes early, the door was locked and I couldn’t see anyone inside. Walked around the shopping center for a few, came back at my appointment time, still locked. Waited outside and finally she let me in about 5 min late and said she locks the front door when she’s in with a client because there’s no one else. Then she told me she was squeezing in a ‘regular’ customer for a waxing and I’d have to wait a little longer. Then I got to listen to her loudly take several phone calls while I was still waiting. I should have left then, as this was supposed to be a nice, relaxing treat for me after finals and not a boring sitting time in a bare waiting area for someone who clearly didn’t care about a new customer. Massage and facial were ok but I’ve definitely had much better, and she spent the whole time talking — I don’t mind chatter, but it was nonstop and mostly complaining about how busy she is. That’s not relaxing at all, and the experience was not worth what I paid. Definitely will be going elsewhere next time I can afford a treat… guess maybe her regulars get better treatment, from the reviews.

I could have done better with a blindfold. I still had to shave even after being «waxed». I don’t recommend going here to anyone. Even after making an appointment and showing up, I’ll admit, no more than 5 minutes late, Kim made me feel like I threw off her whole schedule. Sorry but you should probably learn to arrange your schedule with gaps for unplanned circumstances. The worst waxing experience i’ve ever encountered.

I’m posting this review on behalf of my mom, who got a facial this weekend at Monterey Bay Bodyworks from Kim.
My aunts and I took my mom to Carmel for her birthday, and the facial was a birthday gift. This was my mother’s first facial. She’s a pretty practical, no-​nonsense person, and not too big on fru fru stuff. She really liked Kim and said that she was very pleasant and down to earth and didn’t try to sell her any fantastically expensive products. She even recommended a drug store brand product for my mom to use.
Mom really enjoyed her facial and felt like a new woman by the time it was done. Now she’s even talking about making regular trips from San Jose to get facials with Kim. From a woman who didn’t get her first facial till her 60^th birthday and rarely spends money on pampering herself, this is high praise.
The staff were also really friendly and accomodating when I called to make the appointment on fairly short notice. All around, a great experience!

Where do I begin??? I have been meaning to review this place for a while. I feel very blessed to have met Kim and found such a wonderful business!
I first visited Monterey Bodyworks in the fall of 2008. I had just moved to the area and my back was a mess. Kim worked wonders on my back, she even used hot stones at no extra charge!
After that I became a regular customer. I would visit ever couple weeks. She was particularly helpful when it came to running injuries because Kim is a runner herself! I started having my fiancé visit regularly and even had a group of athlete friends visit regularly. I also have had the waxing and skin care services as well. All the services are top notch!
My fiancé (now husband) and I have since left Monterey (last fall) but still keep in touch. I know for sure when we visit we plan to make a trip to visit the new location in Carmel!

I got a Brazilian wax done today and the only complaint I have is that I’m upset I didn’t find this place sooner! Kim is really personable and makes you feel comfortable from the moment you step through the door until you walk out. I had waited longer than usual to get waxed, so I was anticipating a lot of pain. Don’t get me wrong, it hurt like hell (as it would anywhere else if you waited too long to get waxed), but Kim was able to keep the conversation flowing and helped me calm the nerves a bit– she literally kept me laughing the whole time!
If you’re looking for a place to get a quality wax, at a reasonable price and from an experienced esthetician, this is your place. Kim also gives massages, and from what I am seeing in reviews, she rocks at that as well!

I am a Chiropractor who loves to visit Carmel with my wife. My body has gotten pretty beaten up after 20 years of practice. I was suffering from multiple areas of tendinitis and muscle pain and stiffness on our last trip to Carmel. I happened upon Kim’s place and made an appointment. I have employed at least 25 massage therapists in my life and I try to get massages while on vacations. I know what I need and what I like. I let Kim know what I needed and she really gave me relief. She is very strong and isn’t afraid to work hard. I had 3 90 minute massages in one week and her excellent care and skill has helped me accelerate my healing. Her place is spotless, modern and very comfortable. Her prices are more than fair. I’m usually too busy to get bodywork at home but I am planning to see her everytime we visit Carmel which is 3 – 4 times yearly.
I would love to have her working for me since she is more than capable of doing the deep tissue work I need. She is also very easy to communicate with via cell phone and texting. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Dr Ken

Kim is EXCELLENT! If you’re a local resident or just someone on a short stay in Monterey, she is definitely a massage therapist you want see.

I just had a massage from her yesterday and I STILL feel great. Kim does a great job from start to finish and because there is no menu, you get a personalized and very professional experience. I really enjoy the studio although I do warn if you blink you might miss it.
+ The prices for a massage are VERY good and a total deal in this area.
+ She offers her aesthetician skills as well.
+ You are welcome to relax with some wine or tea after your are done.

I have had a good number of facials in my life and this is just the best. Kim is talented, smart and creative — your facial will be just what you need. And the massage… well, again, very tuned into what you need. She is very strong and is capable of gentle, soothing massage as well as very deep therapeutic massage. She is the best!
