Fancy Pants is owned and operated by a MOM! The store has been under new ownership since July 2012. Since then, it has been updated, restocked and remodeled. Fancy Pants is a children’s boutique serving the beach town of Carlsbad. It is located in the heart of the Village on Carlsbad Village Drive. It’s a fantastic little shop that has a great selection of boutique clothing, unique toys, shoes and accessories for babies, children, boys and girls! I wanted to be a part of the community and interact with other moms, grandparents and caregivers. I love having a sweet little shop where you can find amazing clothing, quality toys and great gifts. It’s the most amazing thing to be surrounded by babies and children every day! They are so sweet and so fresh from God! It’s such a blessing to come to work and be surrounded by little faces. I have two young kids of my own and can certainly identify with all the joys and challenges of being a mom.

Every time I shop for my kids this is always one of my first stops, everything is so cute! I find some items to be a little overpriced but their customer service so wonderful I give it 5 stars all day long. I went last weekend for a last minute birthday gift and the sweet girl working at the register went out of her way to make the bag so totally cute! I didn’t even have to run to yet another store to find gift wrapping… sometimes its the little things. I really appreciated the personal touch.

We were on a recent getaway to Carlsbad when we found this adorable little store. Friendly service and the CUTEST items! We bought a bunch of dresses and accessories for when our daughter is a little older. Can’t wait to dress her up! The owner, Eileen, was so sweet and helpful. Can’t wait to visit again!

Fancy Pants has a broad selection of unique clothes, accessories, toys, and games. I love that some of the clothes is actually handmade. Even though the prices of some of the clothes is more than I’d pay at Osh Kosh or Carter’s, it’s often one-of-a-kind, so I’m willing to pay more for a special dress or for something that’s too cute to pass up. It’s also the only store where I could find amber teething necklaces, and I had my baby’s hand and foot prints cast in plaster there. The only thing that makes me sad is that the store is up for rent, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the new owner will keep it as a unique children’s boutique.

Cuteness! I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while but it is only open on the weekend and Wednesdays. I’m glad they are open on Wednesdays though because that is the day of the farmers market right around the corner.
After the babies and I went perusing the market with a friend and her kids, we decided to stop in. It was a tight squeeze for each of our double wide strollers. It is basically the size of a living room in there. There were tons of cute things. Usually when I go shopping I see mostly plain items or items of sheer ridiculousness that would only to be fair to put on a doll. That is not true of here. They were cute but actually still wearable. I swooned over a few vintage style baiting suits while my friend had to the play the, «okay, I’ll put that on your birthday list» game with her older kids.
Yes, it is more expensive than some other places but from what I can tell you are paying for uniqueness and quality.

I just love this little shop! It’s nice to be able to shop in person for unique, handmade items that I can usually only buy online. I was specifically looking for baby girl headbands and bows and this store has a huge selection at reasonable prices. They also have a very unique selection of boys and girls clothes, Amber necklaces, crochet hats and so much more! The owner was so friendly and helpful, and another time there was an employee running shop and she was also very sweet and helpful. So happy I found this boutique, wish I didn’t live so far away!

This is my FAVORITE children’s boutique by far. I have been shopping here for about a year. The owner Eileen and her employees know both myself and my daughter by name. This small business takes time to get to know their customers. They are very helpful while shopping and give great customer service!
They ave very cute clothes and an AMAZING bow assortment. I get ALL of my daughters bows here.

It was a week before my daughter’s first birthday and I needed to find a headband or bow that matched her birthday outfit. I had looked online, and everything seemed outrageous, and then I also had to pay for shipping. I looked in some chain stores, and everything seemed so basic. What I wanted was something special for her hair, without breaking the bank. I went in and was spoiled for choice! The owner helped me look though the different bows and headbands, and was so sweet and attentive. We ended up picking a headband with a beautiful, sparkly flower on it. But I also bought several other hair accessories while there. Each was around $ 6 for a headband, which was reasonable compared to others I have bought in the past. Please go visit this place for unique children’s clothing and accessories — you will not be disappointed!

I was on a girls trip in Laguna Bch and it was a bit crowded, traveled to Carlsbad and just loved this main area. Popped in because of cute window display and picked up the sweetest minky, pale yellow bubble suit to send our grandaughter-We are young G-parents, & I am picky. The lady was not the owner but could not have been more helpful. She showed me the cutest water books that were age appropriate as I have 4 g-babies & one niece. This lady made sure I had a card and was putting me on their email list. I was more than casual as I was headed back out to the beach. Anyways, I just received a text & our daughter also put the sweet bubble suit on InstaGram because she loved it so much. The water books were a massive hit as well because they are fun but a learning tool that you can wipe off and reuse. Handmade, local, unique & will ship… what else could I want? I’m far away but will be a long distance customer. Thank you so!

This place is SO adorable!!! Yes, there are some more expensive one of a kind hand made little dresses for toddlers but there are also a lot of affordable pieces as well and the headband/hair clip selection is out of this world! They also have a lot of Melissa and Doug toys, which I love. Every time I’ve been into the store the women working there have been super helpful but I never felt pressured. If you want super cheap children’s clothes and toys – go to wal mart! This is a boutique. But it’s still not as expensive as, say, Neman’s and the things in Fancy Pants are so much more unique.

Yes, they most certainly do have some fancy pants that are out of my budget ($ 70 dresses for tots) but there are toys and gifts in a more friendly price range too. And speaking of friendly, the employee I encountered the day I was there was super nice, attentive but not pushy. In addition to some really neat clothing, they have some cool gifts including a lot of wooden Melissa and Dog toys, which I love. If you have a kiddo you want to spoil a bit or you need a gift, I definitely recommend Fancy Pants.

walked by this store by happenstance. i initially wanted to check out the surf shop but all the adorable mini outfits and dresses were too darling to pass up.
with 3 and soon to be 4 babies popping up within my group of gal pals i was able to find some really cute prezzies like leg warmers with pink monkeys and a felt flower hair pin. the ballet socks and bibs are on my bookmark list for future. the owner was really sweet and helpful. it was so hard to decide on what to pick out with all those choices but i really appreciated her honest opinions.

Unless you are dressed in fancy pants your self, don’t expect any customer service or semblance of acknowledgement.
I work in an office around the corner from this place and wanted to check it out, as my brother had his first child and i love spoiling my niece.
I went in there wearing shorts, sandals, and a beanie and was completely ignored. I even made eye contact with the woman and was about to ask her a question about an item, but she turned away from me making it very clear she didn’t have the time or desire to answer my question.
It’s her loss. I spend lots of money on my niece and with her shop being so close to where I work she would have seen lots of business from me.

I was determined to shop local businesses over the last few months of the year in 2012, esp. for the holidays. This small children’s boutique in Carlsbad Village (on the right hand side of Carlsbad Village Drive before you hit State St.) is exactly that. Local business with local owners, who are trying hard to make this store delightful since they took over a year or so ago. If you haven’t visited since the new ownership, get in there! The content of the store is up in quality, content, and customer service.
I did my holiday shopping for my new niece here over the holidays. Well, she’s 5, but she’s new to our family and prior to this, I’ve only had nephews. I was THRILLED to be able to get a ton of pink girly stuff for her and the only place to shop local and make that happen, for me, was Fancy Pant’s.
I got the most adorable brown and pink tutu skirt and several headbands with flowers and ribbons on them, you should have seen her face when she opened it at Christmas! The quality of the items was impeccable, I’m sure they’ll last through all her jungle gym castles, kittens, and make believe adventures.

This place is all nice up front… BUT even though they say you can return an item, they will not! I tried to return an unused item (toy) that I was told that I could if the child didnt like, but when I walked in and as soon as I mentioned return or exchange… she changed into a very rude person and I was not able to exchange my item. It would have made a BIG difference if she would have been nice about it but she all but shouted at me… terrrible place!!!

I was thrilled to find out today that this store is under new ownership. After an awful experience last year — both in service and in product — now there is a new owner, improved product (Misha Lulu and Giggle Moon + local maker designs) and toys!
As a Carlsbad resident, I was totally missing Rockin Sprouts but now we have the cheery and devoted Eileen at Fancy Pants. Oh and don’t be deterred by the name of the store (still the same) it’s not just a girls clothing shop — they have boy clothes and toys, too!

I walked into Fancy Pants very excited because it was a store I had purchased clothing from for my daughter in the past in Oceanside. However this time the owner didn’t even look up to greet me and was to busy doing nothing. When I asked her if she had the item I was looking for, she seemed very annoyed. I’ll never go back!
