Dr Howard Levy Optometry

This the best place in Carlsbad to get glasses! Dr. Levy and Nina are nice and so helpful — the shop is beautiful and the selection excellent. On more than one occasion they expedited my contacts order so I could have them for a vacation. Everyone one in my family gets their glasses here (including my grandmother when she visits from D.C.!).

I was referred to Dr. Levy by a friend when I was in search of new glasses. I can not say enough great things about his office. Nina and Dr. Levy do a phenomenal job. Customer service top notch, the last gadgets and equipment to perform my eye exam. Nina was patient and extremely helpful (and honest) as to what eyewear did and didn’t look good on my face. Got a great pair of Oakley’s. Great selection of high end frames and sunglasses. Reasonably priced. Again, kudos all around. 5 stars!!!

To date… Dr. Levy is my FAVORITE optometrist! He is personable, professional and has a great sense of humor. This family run business is top notch. The best part is their selection of «High End Luxury Designer Brands»…I could go crazy in here. Nina, the Optician, is truly the BEST stylist and helps pick frames that will look good on me. I promise… you will not be disappointed in the quality of the spectacles you will receive. Quality comes from the examination, the professional staff, the high level of service and the list, for me, goes on. I LOVE all my glasses and to me, they are a true accessory.

I live between California and Arizona. Dr levy has been our family eye doctor for fifteen years. On my way back to California I realized I forgot my contacts. He got me right in and took care of me. While I was there he fitted my kids in and made sure we had everything we needed before heading back to Arizona. The selection of frames are amazing. Quality of service has always been perfect and never once have had any problems.

This is not the place to go for cheap glasses. Dr. Levy charges premium prices and gives superior service. I ordered glasses which were not to be ready until we were out of town so Dr. Levy’s office sent them via UPS to our vacation condo without further charge.

They are the only local source I found for Silhouette glasses. I love this lightweight and invisible glass type. I find the new fashion of black 1950ies style frames obnoxious. So I always go to Dr Levy. My second prescription was filled correctly by this office. But I was uncomfortable and did not see as well as my previous glasses. Upon investigation, it turned out that my prescription was not totally correct. Dr. Levy’s office fixed this problem although it was not their mistake. It was easy to deal with their office and the service was polite and pleasant although no money was involved.
I find this office very easy to deal with and accommodating of the client.

Worst experience ever! Completely overcharged us for everything. Even with
Insurance. Disrespectful behavior. And a scam for money! Don’t go here !

Dr. Levy gets it right, if it cost more than Costic or lensCrappers is because is a better product and better service, worth every penny if your eyes are important to you. Tiffany, Alissa… you are in charge of asking for what you want and what you need and finding what things will cost, be involved in your health (eye health) and not just complain later.

Doc has the best selection of frames anywhere! You’d be hard pressed to find someone with brands like he carries: Chanel, Tiffany, Ray Ban, Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford, Coach, Oakley, Prada, Maui Jim, etc. He’s a pro at what he does!

I can’t thank Dr. Levy enough. I recently developed a nasty infection in my eye. Of course it came on late in the afternoon on a Friday. I called Dr. Levy’s office on the slight chance I might catch him but it was too late. They were closed. To my surprise Dr. Levy not only returned my call but came into the office after hours to diagnose and treat me. Not a single other optometrist bothered to return my call even the next day. Without his dedication I would have suffered through the whole weekend. He correctly diagnosed and prescribed the appropriate treatment. He took the time to call me the next day for a status update and then had me come in on Monday for a follow up. If I ever do need glasses, he will be my first choice without question. I highly recommend Dr. Levy.

I have been going to Dr. Levy for years and am very happy. I am always brought into the exam room right away, the exam is simple and thorough and Dr. Levy is pleasant. I have gotten both contacts and glasses from him. He has a great selection of glasses but be warned they can be pricey. I have always thought that your glasses are part of your face so I will invest a bit more for nice glasses and always find something I like there.

Went to Dr. Levy for Contacts, got his address from my insurance address book since this was very close to my house.
Dr.Levy was very patient and answered all my questions and thought it took a while to find the right pair of contacts (I have astigmatism and it is usually the case) but after 4 visits and 2 different contact pairs i finally found the right pair and i am more than happy with the visit.
I do think it is a little expensive paying 250 + after my insurance to get a years supply of contacts but you pay for the expertise and i think it was a worth while investment.

I cannot speak highly enough of of Dr. Howard Levy. His service is second to none! Together, he and his wife Nina give a truly personal experience that will keep me coming back for years to come. If you are looking for an optometrist, HOWARD IS THE MAN TO GO TO!

Stopped by on a lunch break one day as I was in the plaza having some Joey’s Smokin BBQ. I was in the market for some new eyeglasses.
Sales associates were friendly and helpful in helping me choose stylish frames. It seems like the team here only puts out the best/​newest designer frames in the market. This is not your typical cheapo Lenscrafters or Visionworld selection. I tried on Polo, Oakley, Prada, Oliver Peoples, D&G, and Ferragamos and eventually decided that the Polo frames looked the sharpest.
After choosing my frames, I was able to get an appointment for later in the week to see the Doc… he was a hoot and gave me an accurate test. I picked up my glasses a couple of weeks later. I can’t wait to go back to use my next year’s insurance allowance on a pair of perscription sunglasses!

I completely agree with Andrew T about being disgusted about the way Dr. Levy does business. I had the worst experience with him and received, finally, a pair of reading glasses for over $ 500 that I could’ve bought anywhere else for $ 100. It took me months (3 to be exact) to even get a prescription that worked after American Express had to be involved and Dr. Levy kept blaming me for not adjusting well.
I had asked for contact lenses at the outset and was told I wouldnt be happy and that the cost would be around $ 500 out of pocket. He sold me on transition lenses which didnt work for me. even after wearing for 8 weeks and suffering headaches and such limited vision that I was wearing my old reading glasses just to function.
Although the front office staff was kind enough, it still reeks of a business that is desperate to con their customers into overpaying and bait-​and-​switch techniques. They never tell you what your cost will be and customer satisfaction is a foreign term.
This is one of the least professional offices I have ever visited and i would strongly discourage anyone from seeking services from Dr. Levy.

I was very disappointed with my visit to this office. I arrived and there were no other patients there and I still waited over 10 minutes to be seen. The doctor outright ignored a question I asked about eye problems I was having. He spent so little time making sure the contacts were the right size that he prescribed me ones that are a bit off. Even the vision correction is inaccurate in one eye. When I went to check out, the total price was $ 200 OVER my health insurance, which covered my appointment AND $ 100 of contacts. Essentially, I got the most useless, most overpriced eye equipment I could have asked for. I didn’t know what to say, but wish I had said something because of how grossly dissatisfied I am with the year supply of contacts that will surely expire in the box they came in.

I used to get my glasses from larger shops since they tend to offer more variety. However, Lenscrafters doesn’t accept my new eye care insurance, so I decided to give this privately owned optometry a chance.
I was very pleased with the results. True, the selection was smaller, but that just made my choice easier. Sales assistance was perfect; they added just enough suggestions to convey interest and knowledge, and did not try to sell me on the most expensive pair of glasses. More importantly, unlike Lenscrafters, I was not subjected to a hard sell for prescription sun glasses.
The optometrist himself, I can only assume it was Dr. Levy, was professional and friendly without seeming fake. Overall, I walked away feeling comfortable with my exam and choice of new glasses.
