Wow. I can’t even believe the experience I just had. I had an awful experience with Mazda of Escondido, so I came here instead, and boy what a difference. Rich was the guy that helped me. This was my first time buying a car that wasn’t a cheap beater and Rich walked me through the whole process and made sure I was comfortable with everything and understood everything. He didn’t rush me through the process, he actually took extra time to go above and beyond for me to make sure I truly got what I wanted and what I could afford. I recommend this dealership to EVERYONE and I especially recommend working with Rich. He’s not just a car salesman, he’s actually just a really good guy who happens to sell cars. Thanks Rich. Thank you soooo much.

I went to this dealership on way back to SD yesterday. I wanted to buy touch up paint for my Mazda 3.
The sales representative very welcomed me. When I gave him my VIN, he grabbed me one! Also, I asked him to get a quote for engine oil filter for the future reference, he smiled and told me ha can absolutely do it. He gave me quote with Oil filter, gasket bolt, and 0w20 oils too. It was way beyond from my expextation. I will definitely come again instead of South Bay Mazda, where treat customers crap.

Bought 2 cars from this dealership and I must say it was an enjoyable experience. Paul G. was great. Made us feel at ease and worked with us to get the car we wanted with the right financing. They set us up with a free oil change on the first visit. That was a surprise since we weren’t told when we bought the car. Little touches like that had us coming back for our second car. I love my Mazda 3 and Miata. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for my Mazda’s. Bad thing is now I don’t need another car so I’ll only be there for servicing.

This review is mostly about Fred Bandi, the internet sales manager. We discussed and negotiated everything via email and agreed on a specific price for a specific vehicle.
I found Fred to be straightforward and honest. I’m going to the dealership later today for the first time to meet Fred in person, take a quick test drive to make sure the specific vehicle is in new condition, and then sign the paperwork.
I did my research ahead of time and knew what price would be fair to both parties and Fred made the numbers work. I would be pleased to come back here for my next vehicle and to recommend them to others looking for a fair deal.

Richard Lilya helped me with a Mazda CX5 AWD and was very pleased to work with him. He didn’t rush me in the process, took his time to explain features/​benefits, and spent hours with me to get me just what I wanted. I would highly recommend asking for him when you go there. I must say that, unfortunately, I wound up not purchasing the vehicle due to advice from my CPA.

These five stars are for Fred B. I initially test drove the CX-​5 with Fred and he was helpful in describing all the features. There was a fun buzz sound while driving. Fred made sure to find out what it was and let us know on his own. (It turned out to be a lane exit feature on buzz mode).
On the day I settled in the CX-​5, Fred made the negation process comfortable. I left after a few hours with a new CX-​5 and was very happy with the deal Fred worked out.
Overall I was very happy with my experience with Fred here and would return for my next car if it happens to be a mazda!

Awe man, I’m so happy! «Mazda Matt» made this so easy he was such a gentleman. I got the perfect car! Perfect color and trim! I was tired after months of shopping it was worth the drive to Carlsbad! Wish I had started here to begin with.

Bill Gilbow was AWESOME ! We looked all over for a CX9 that my Wife would like. We found it on Bob Bakers website and called the dealership right away. Bill was on it right from the start. I had a certain amount I wanted on my trade and that I would spend out of pocket. The other dealerships that we spoke to all tried to burn us on the trade in and then play games on the new car price. Bill said let me see what I can do I want your business. Now so far this is all going on over the phone at this point and did for two days, Bill got us the actual amount we wanted for our trade in, The price of the vehicle was NOT raised to do this and My Wife is now driving her CX9. Bill was truly exceptional and made the car buying experience exceptional. No hassles — No Games — just a Great Experience !!! We have already referred our neighbors to Bill.

Good people to buy the car from.
It was mother’s day and I wanted to buy a car. I knew what I wanted and was not in a mood to compromise. I wanted Mazda 6 GT with Tech. Red with white interior.
Turns out, it is lot more harder to buy a fully loaded car than I had thought. I did a search on
and only they had my particular model in stock. They had just one. Nobody in the west coast had it.
I spoke to Mathew in sales and was told that they did have this car in stock. He told me the actual mileage and didn’t really try and make the sale over the phone. I drove from Las Vegas to Carlsbad to see the car. It took us almost 4 hours to buy the car as we ended up buying 2 of them. I never felt rushed or haggled. It was a painless process. I think Chris was the other person who helped me but I am not sure.
The worst part of my experience was the actually loan guy. He made me feel like a fool when I denied gap insurance. He was a hard sell kind of a guy. Other than him, it was just so awesome to buy a car from them.
Other than that. I just loved it buying car from them.

I have mixed feelings about this place.
When I bought my Mazda 6 from this dealership I had a overall great experience. Even though I spent the whole day here I got a great deal and great customer service from beginning to end.
My fiancé and I came back a week later to get my car serviced. We waited in the waiting area, which is part of the showroom. There were some employees in showroom but we were the only customers.
One of the car salesman acknowledged us and I just told him we waiting on my car. I even spotted the car salesman that sold me my car. I was so excited to thank him and let him know how much I loved my new car, but he just ignored me when I greeted him. I thought that was weird because I spent a whole day with him just a week ago and even talked to him on the phone after. I just brushed it off and assumed he didn’t remember me.
After that we were pretty much ignored, they were just talking, laughing and showing each other viral videos, which was fine. But then started cussing right in front of us, like we weren’t even there. I understand how it gets and salesmen have to work hard for their sales, but wow I deserve the same respect and manner as a potential customer. It got pretty uncomfortable for us, so we ended up just leaving and walking around while we waited for my car to be done.

I recently worked with Fred to find a 2016 Mazda 3 hatchback, and I have to say I am very pleased with the service I received.
Obviously, buying a new car is not something most people look forward to. However, this one was just about as easy as it gets. I initially reached out to several dealers in the San Diego/​Riverside county areas after test driving at my local dealership. Fred was quick to respond to my inquiry via email, and gave me a very competitive quote up front. Two other dealers refused to quote me anything other than MSRP, and needless to say they immediately lost my business. Two additional dealers gave me somewhat higher quotes, so I decided to close a deal with Fred.
He was very responsive to my emails, and we actually reached an agreement on price via email (to be fair, I had done a good amount of research up front and had a good idea of what I should be paying). He also answered all the questions I had in a timely manner, and worked hard to obtain the exact car I wanted through a dealer trade.
When I arrived at the dealership to take a look at the car and sign the paperwork, it was a breeze. There was no pressure to purchase extras or extended warranties, and all told I spent about 90 minutes at the dealership before taking ownership of the car. Much of this time was spent reviewing financing options for various down payments and loan terms so I could zero in on what worked best for me.
I would definitely recommend Fred to anyone seriously considering a new car.

I came to Bob Baker after having a horrible experience at another dealership. I really appreciate the fact that everyone was so nice and not pushy or sleezy. If you can, ask for Jason Connors. He’s the best!

We recently leased a new Mazda MX-​5 Miata from Bob Baker Mazda. Bill G was awesome to work with. He prearranged the approval without us being at the dealership and then when everything was ready, he called us with the approval and we went in and picked up the car without a long wait. I highly recommend this dealership. We will go back for our next vehicle.

I don’t know how this place has as many stars as it does.
I’ve been looking at cars for a few months now and have been so torn between a Toyota and a Subaru for most of that time. But after checking out the new cx5 I was immediately set on it.
I went down to this dealership today with my mom and was set on getting the ball rolling and getting myself a new car.
We walked right up to the front door and checked out the new 2016 cx5, eyes lit up, money ready. 20 feet to our left there was a gentleman smoking a cigarette, looking at us, clearly an employee, but absolutely NO greeting. He actually just finished his cigarette, put it out and walked straight past us and into the building.
Okay, no worries. He clearly doesn’t want the sale.
So we walked around the lot for a solid 15 – 20 min checking out ALL of the cx5 models.
Still not ONE employee that was there even gave us a hello. And it’s not like it was the middle of the week when they may be understaffed, it was two pm on a Saturday.
Super terrible service.
As a buyer I will not recommend this dealership to anyone I know, and I will never return.
And hopefully the man who was smoking the cigarette feels really stupid after reading this, because he should.

We drove to Carlsbad on Mothers Day to look at a Mazda 6 Grand Touring Yes from Las Vegas!!! And we liked the dealership so much we bought TWO vehicles from them. The Mazda6 and a CX5. They were nice and patient with us, never made us feel rushed even though I know they were dying to get the heck out of there!
Will I go back??? That’s a good question. If I am looking for a luxury vehicle and cant find it quickly yes I will turn my search engine to them cause I know they will have it in stock. —And yes we did look in Vegas; didn’t get the same attention, felt pressured and they weren’t really willing to go the extra mile to help us get what we wanted. There was a lot of «we have this on the lot» If that was what I had been looking for guys guess what! I would have bought it!!!
Thank you Bob Baker Mazda, you turned a very long day into something I can do again! And I got the prettiest red CX5 !

I’ve taken my Mazda here so many times, and I always trust they are giving me the best service possible. I never once worry they are taking advantage of me or trying to scam me on what needs to be taken care of.
Normally people have told me not to take your car to the dealership because they are way more expensive– I don’t necessarily believe this to be true. My Mazda spot specializes in Mazdas. They know everything about my car. It’s like taking your iPhone to the Apple store, you get direct service from the people who know your product and specialize in it.
Max (?) is so nice, he’d the older gentleman that has checked me in each time I visit. He’s super sweet, never tries to upsell me anything, and always gives me a great deal.
Luckily my car has only had a few minor issues, so I don’t need to bring it in often aside from oil changes. I will always bring it here if anything major goes wrong. If you have a Mazda, bring it here! :)

Terrible customer service. Folks here tend to want to cover their butts then to make sure issues are properly reported.
We’ll take our Mazda 6 to a different service center where the issues are properly assessed and management isn’t afraid to speak the truth…

Even having bought 7 new vehicles and knowing the process, car shopping can be stressful. Especially when you are cash challenged! Paul G, Ron P, & John C get top rating for making the purchase of a 2015 Mazda 6 «THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!»
From the relaxed process, taking time to understand my needs and then do what they do best and negotiate with the lender to get me the taken care of without feeling raked over the coals or backed into a corner.

WORST experience I ever had
There was a $ 800.00 difference. On my way to Mission Valley to purchase a new Mazda 5 Bill (the salesman) told me to come back to BOB BAKER and they would meet the price, Being I live in Vista, it was closer and I agreed to turn around and buy it at BOB BAKER. When I arrived I was told that the only Way they would sell it to me was that I financed the car. Reason they get $ 1500 rebate from Mazda and therefore the condition was I finance the new MAZDA 5cx.
This is no way to do business. I bought the car at Bob Hines and had no problems

Purchasing a new car is always exciting but also dreadful, thinking about having to deal with pushy salesmen. I did my research and knew exactly what I wanted… the problem was, getting it at the price I wanted.
I was in contact with several other dealerships at the same time trying to get the best price I could. I contacted Bob Baker Mazda through their website and was introduced to Fred, he took a little bit to get back to me but I’m sure he was busy since it was a holiday weekend. When he did get back to me, he offered me a quote and we exchanged a couple emails in which he was very quick at responding to compared to the first email. It didn’t take too long before we agreed upon a price before I even arrived at the dealership.
The next day I drove down and Fred was true to his word and not pushy at all! He had the car I wanted ready and we took it for a quick test drive. Fred was very knowledgeable about the car and answered all my questions and was very patient with us as we inspected the car. We ran into some trouble with the paperwork but Fred worked out a way for us to clear things up.
Collin, the finance person was also great, he didn’t try to push us on purchasing all the extras such as warranties, etc and explained everything clearly for us before signing the paperwork.
Overall, I had a great buying experience from them and would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in purchasing a Mazda!
