A year after my mother received Gamma Knife radiation treatments to treat trigeminal neuralgia, she began to develop sores on her scalp and forehead. It was treated for some time as various infections to limited success. This went on for several years before finally being diagnosed as radiation burns by a wound specialist. The doctor said that the only viable treatment would be sixty consecutive days of hyperbaric chamber treatment for two hours a day. In the interim, she was prescribes an ointment by the name of Revina to help increase blood flow and healing. I can’t say what help it was as she developed two rather large, open sores on her scalp that were quickly becoming larger. I Googled«radiation burns» and stumbled across the Adria Sina website. Reportedly, their aloe ointment product designed for radiation burns seemed that it might be a viable solution as the prescription appeared to not be working at all. After a week of using the ointment, we started to see improvement and by the end of four weeks, her once open sores were completely healed over. I am hopeful that she may get some hair growth again, but am satisfied that the sores have finally healed. She has not been as good about applying the thinner lotion to areas of of her face where the radiation caused the skin to thin, but I am going to encourage her to follow the 3x a day recommended program. The ointment worked so well, I hope that if she continues with the regular lotion that it will keep her skin eruptions at bay. I’m not quite referring to their products by the proper names, but feel free to contact them, they are very nice and willing to help.
