I’m an idiot. I thought I could get to Emporia without filling up. Dumb move. When the idiot light* comes on, that’s your car telling you to do something. But I thought I could get cheaper gas. And when the last quarter of the tank went by faster than the first three quarters, I was pleased to see a gas station. And even more pleased when there was something next to the Exxon station (because I try hard to avoid those bar-​stewards). A quick fill up (pay at the pump and the receipt printer worked) and we were off.
As it turns out, the gas at Emporia was a full 30 cents more a gallon than here in Capron.
*Do you know why they call it the ‘idiot light’? Because if it comes on, you’re an idiot.
