I love this place. Other nail saloons in town just get the job done. At Opal you get pampered in a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and I am always 100% happy with my nails. Plus, the polish seems to last longer too! Thank you to the staff at Opal !

I got married in Capitola and went here for my nails with my bridesmaids, mother, and mother-​in-​law. I made a reservation earlier that month (I would highly recommend if you have a large party) and the lady who I spoke to was very helpful. This is probably the best nail salon I have ever been to! It was very clean, great décor, and my nails turned out better than I expected! We were all very happy with our service and I would definitely recommend this place! The prices are also very reasonable.

All of the ladies who work here are so amazing and friendly. Everything is so clean. It is locally owned and you can feel that they all care about what they do. All of the products they use are so amazing. I recommend Opal spa hands down!

The standard for nail salons just became INSANELY high after coming here. Hands down the best nail salon I have ever been to. Living in Sacramento and I’m even thinking about using this salon as an excuse to visit the Santa Cruz area for the weekend in the future. It is THAT good.
Location is absolutely wonderful. Right next to Amazon juices? Sold! I’ll take an acai bowl before my mani please!
(Parking out front on the street is limited. There is parking in the back though!)
Interior is small but comfortable, clean and soothing. Not only is it soothing because there is a small humidifier in there but it is quiet enough to hear the calming music. That’s right. This place is quiet unless YOU converse with those around you. The wonderful workers here don’t converse with one another in their native tongue constantly like how most nail salons are. I don’t have to wonder if they’re judging my stubby toes or awful cuticles with someone else. In fact, I don’t feel judged for having ugly hands that they need to fix like how I normally feel!
The attention to detail here is above and beyond. There are even little colorful stones in the water your hand soaks in. Absolutely unnecessary but I noticed how it made a difference on how I felt as a customer. People say they feel like a princess when they get their nails done but here you ARE a princess.
Every worker here is also incredibly attentive. I have never had such a nice manicure before. My lady (Lian? I think that is her name?) was WONDERFUL! She took forever on my nails, going back and forth. Adding this and that. Scraping this and that. Even massaging my hands and arms up to the elbow. I wondered for a moment if she had OCD or if all the workers are like this. I asked my friend how her manicurist was and she said the same. SO THEY ARE ALL AMAZING! :)
My friend also had a pedi done and said it was wonderful too. Going as far as giving her legs a stone massage. How awesome is that?
I never got a pedi before because of how bad my feet look in my opinion. But this place makes me WANT a pedi, REAL BAD. No judgement, high service, and so so sanitary. Just a great safe place.
Back to the nails though. Best hour long manicure of my life. AND IT WAS ONLY$ 15!!! FIFTEEN?! SERIOUSLY?! What are other places doing if this heavenly place is only charging FIFTEEN???

My sister (MOH), mom (MOB), and myself (bride) got our nails done before my wedding in May 2016. I called ahead to arrange for a classic pedicure, 2 signature pedicures, and a signature gel manicure. The lady on the phone was super helpful and polite. When we arrived they had us seated in minutes, and had arranged for us all to sit together which was very nice. They have a great selection of colors in gel and regular. They even helped me pick out my gel manicure color (bubble bath) which was perfect!
Very clean, great massage chairs, friendly helpful staff, organized, and their infused water was super scrumptious with the strawberries and herbs!
All of our nails looked great and stayed that way for at least a week (hands) and more (feet)!

I am so happy with the way my nails turned out. They look fabulous. She took her time and made them look perfect. The atmosphere was so calming, they had mellow tranquil music playing as well as a soft fragrance floating through the air. They even top of your manicure with a hand massage! I’ll definitely be back for a pedicure!

Best nail salon ever. Not even overpriced and they give you the best treatment. So sweet and wonderful. Love every second of being here!

I just get manicures periodically to kill time on the road and relax and whatever. This place was clean, peaceful, kind, and effective!

Opal Spa went above and beyond in accommodating my last minute same day request to fit in mani/​pedis for five women and manicures for three girls two days before my wedding. We all had a fun, memorable experience, they were extremely patient with my busy, curious young flower girls, and our nails turned out beautiful. Thank you so much, Opal Spa!

Three steps above all the other ‘cattlle call’ nail joints in town, and only a touch more pricey. The extra you pay is well worth it in the wonderful service, quiet/​relaxing environment, and excellent service. Christine is the hostess with the most-​est. Call ahead and avoid waiting (yes, they actually honor appointment times, unlike you-​know-​where).

This place is amazing and I wish I found this place sooner. I got the signature pedicure. It was heaven. My favorite part is the massage. Can’t wait to come back and try the manicure. The place is clean and beautiful. If you’re in Santa Cruz, come here!

Great spot! Amazing customer service and very relaxing atmosphere. Chi is my favorite manicurist because she always takes the time to make sure each nail is perfect. Christine makes everyone feel welcome and special. Smells clear and nice, none of that chemical odor you find in some other places. Small space but very well decorated so it feels large. Favorite place for Mani and Pedis in Santa Cruz area!

Probably the best pedicure I’ve ever had! We came here because it was pouring down rain and they were able to get us in on short notice. Opal was the first Spa/​Massage place that was able to accommodate us out of the many places I called. I got the deluxe pedicure which involved a hot stone massage and a paraffin wax treatment. What a delight!
My husband got a deep tissue massage, and loved it. Very reasonable prices considering just one service would be more than what we paid elsewhere. Even though we live in Seattle we are already planning our next visit. The place is just lovely — really pretty, relaxing décor. Shout out to «B» for her amazing pedicure magic!

Peaceful and relaxing. No one speaking loudly in a different language like the typical nail place. Clean. Sanitary. Great service. I had a pedicure here, although it was a couple bucks more pricey than the other nail place, it’s nice to go somewhere where you know they have taken the time to clean and also the effort to make your visit all about you.

I really loved the nail salon I that I used to frequent in San Diego. I had been seeing the owners for my mani /​pedi needs for well over a decade.
However after a few months, I think I’ve found my new go-​to nail salon here in Santa Cruz. The ladies at Opal go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. They’re courteous, polite, and accommodating. The salon is clean and well-​maintained. Most importantly, they do a great job on your nails. My last mani lasted 2 weeks… without gels.

Great spa and atmosphere for nails and waxing. The staff is very accommodating & friendly and they do a great job. My only wish is that you could look at the bottles of polish and not select the color from the strips of painted fake nails, but I’m sure if you asked they’d let you sample a few colors to make sure. Overall, I think this is definitely the best spot in town.

My favorite place! It took me forever to find a place when I moved to Santa Cruz from San Jose! Finally I went to Opal and I love it! My gel manicure is always perfect and it last always more than 2 weeks. Also the owner and the staff are amazing and so nice!
I totality recommend !
