We were remodeling our kitchen and needed someone to do the tile work for the backsplash. Through Unilocal we came across Elegant Tile. Glad we did! Keith, the owner, was very professional and replied promptly to our inquiries.
On the day of the job the crew of Elegant Tile arrived and I surprised them with a screen grab of a backsplash design I saw in a TV commercial. Without missing a beat, they worked out my design and worked it into the rest of the tile work and still got the job done in a couple of days.
During the job they were very professional. We felt secure and confident they were going to do a good job. Each day they arrived on time and at the end of the day they cleaned up leaving the work site just as they found it. It’s a good sign when you come across a contractor and you find yourself thinking of other projects you can use them for. We have this feeling with Elegant Tile. We would recommend them to our friends for sure!

We can’t say enough good things about Keith Schuler of Elegant Tile Works & Construction, and his very talented crew. They did a fantastic job on our bathroom remodel. We’ve received so many compliments on our bathroom — everyone notices the gorgeous tile, unusual sink, and all the lovely details.
Like any responsible homeowner, we solicited three bids on our bathroom remodel. We live in a charming but small house in the Santa Cruz mountains, with only one bathroom, so getting it «done right» was a top priority. Keeping costs in control was important, as was finding a contractor we felt comfortable working with. We have remodeled several rooms in our house, so we know the challenges and benefits of working with contractors.
Of the three bids we received, one was very low and came with a good dose of «well, that can’t be done.» One was very high, and came with contract fine print that made me wonder, «How many times has this company been sued? Will they work with me if something isn’t to my satisfaction, or will they point to a paragraph in the contract?»
The 3^rd bid was from Elegant Tile Works & Construction. Like the story of Goldilocks, this bid was «just right». When Keith came to bid on the job, we had an almost instant feeling of «this is the guy». When his bid came in right in the middle, without a contract that only a lawyer could appreciate, we knew this was the right company.
Our home was built in the 1940s, and comes with some interesting plumbing challenges. Keith and his crew worked through all of them, including the surprises that inevitably occur when you open a wall (we have «before» pictures that will make your hair stand on end). Keith listened to our concerns about moisture, cold winters, and expanding waistlines (OK, he was just being polite on that last topic). Our new bathroom is warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and beautifully lit. We wanted a Sun Tunnel, and Keith suggested one that included a vent fan, as well as a light for the evening hours. We couldn’t be more pleased. The Sun Tunnel was precisely positioned, such that we get a fantastic amount of light all day.
Keith’s strengths include letting us know beforehand if something will cost extra, what our options are, and providing detailed information on costs. We never had to wonder how much changes were costing. — there were no surprises. And ultimately, we felt we could trust Keith to do the right thing. It was like having your best friend remodel your bathroom — we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We plan to remodel our bathroom at our weekday home in Campbell, and we will without a doubt, ask Elegant Tile Works & Construction to do the job.

I was looking for a contractor to renovate my one and a half baths. After several other contractors had flaked on me, I went to Unilocal to find someone else. Keith Schuler came out when he said, gave me a very detailed estimate, and was very professional.
Keith and his team started and finished as stated with no surprises. The estimate was on point. The end result is just what I wanted and is beautiful.

Keith, Shawn and Brandon were wonderful. They showed up on time every day, were very courteous and considerate of laying travertine in a private home while the occupants are still living there. They did a phenomenal job on a very difficult Versailles pattern. We would hire them again in a second as well as refer them to our friends.

Let’s face it — contractors in Santa Cruz show up when the waves are flat. You can predict when your contractor will «call in sick» or worse — be a no show with no phone call, by the surf report in the morning.

I love Elegant Tile. Keith, Shawn, Brandon, and Alex are very good at what they do, and they’re good to have around. That’s important, when you’ve got a team working in your home. They are knowledgeable, patient, hardworking, and true artisans. They didn’t just install gorgeous tile, they took care of updating our wiring, installing new fixtures and appliances, and replacing our soggy subfloor. I don’t think there’s anything that can faze Keith and his team.

Keith, Shawn and Brandon did beautiful work on my home. They did tile work, trim and moulding work as well as plumbing and electrical. They had the ability to do practically any construction work I needed with a smile. All three men were clean, reliable and professional.

Major props to Keith and his crew on my bathroom remodel! Keith, Shawn, and Brandon were professional, super meticulous, fast, thorough, and just downright nice! They transformed my dated, horrible bathroom into an elegant showpiece for a very reasonable price. Every sub they brought in was courteous and respectful, down to the last sweep of the day. Keith was on schedule, within budget, very communicative, and kept me informed down to the last detail. He was flexible and accommodating with small changes I asked for along the way. They took care of every detail, not just the tile – removed the tub, repaired the subfloor, framed and tiled a pony wall, and cleaned up some weird and improper electrical and plumbing issues. And the tile looks fabulous, much thought went into the tile layout in the shower, and how to run the floor tile in juxtaposition to the wall tile for visual interest. I will definitely use Keith and his crew for my future projects (two bathrooms still to go) and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking to remodel! Thanks guys!

Well, it looks like Keith, Shawn and Brandon did another perfect bathroom remodel! From start to finish this team handled everything including tear out, framing, floating the floor with NuHeat, floating a new shower pan and walls, installing plumbing for tub and shower, electrical for NuHeat, fan, and lights, Solartube, and new tile on the shower and floor. I threw a lot of design changes at them and they handled everything without issue, and without impacting the schedule. Thanks again Keith, Brandon and Shawn!

I loved working with Keith on the tile for my bathroom. He was so careful with the layout that the tiles flowed and we didn’t have any weird cuts or odd bits. Keith even thought through how the shower tiles should meet up with the floor tiles. I challenged him with glass tiles for the backsplash behind the sink that had to be cut to accommodate a wall mounted faucet. It is very difficult to cut a hole in a 6″ glass tile and Keith came up with the brilliant solution to the problem.

Keith has done a great remodel at my home on a bathroom with heated tiles and tile flooring through out the house. He does great work & pays extra attention to detail. He was very helpful to help me pick out tiles for a third bathroom — building a shower with small marble tiles. I wish I had done this remodel with him years ago! My floors are so lovely to look at & easy to clean — Italian tile. Thank you Keith & crew!

Elegant Tile Works (Keith Schuler and his crew) are awesome. After a rough start on our project with two contractors who quit with no explanation, we were reluctant to call another contractor and I was going to finish the work myself. My wife called Keith on a Saturday, and he showed up Sunday. After looking at what he had to work with, he agreed to do the job. I got an email that night with a bid, and a listing of the additional tile I needed to order to finish the job. I accepted the job via email, and His crew was there the next morning to start the job.
I received a call on Monday morning letting me know the grout lines in one corner wouldn’t line up because one wall was not plumb, so I was a little worried but relieved to know that these guys were ABLE to tell me upfront about this issue. I let them know it would be acceptable to us if the lines did not match in that one corner.
Another tile contractor had estimated 2 weeks to do this install. By Saturday (the 6^th day) the job was finished!
The grout lines are beautiful and the tiles are all even. The glass-​decoration strip was installed beautifully. The «un-​matched» grout-​lines are not even noticeable as they got them so close.
When I had a question that I sent to Keith via e-​mail, he was on-​site the next day to ensure everything was up to his high standards.
The previous two contractors were friends of ours, yet the Elegant Tile Works crew was so personable that my wife was more comfortable with them in our house.
Those 5 star were earned through Hard work, Honesty, Reliability.

It is always such a relief when you find «the guy» for a job who you would absolutely hire over and over again and recommend to others without pause. Keith Schuler is that guy.
Keith and his awesome crew, Brandon and Shawn, have helped us with three bathroom remodels and a hallway/​laundry area tile update. They have been supportive, professional, friendly and knowledgable every step of the way. When Keith arrives onsite, I breathe a huge sigh of relief because I know when he’s around, everything is handled. His cool, calm demeanor helps put me at ease (which, when stressing about making so many decisions during the remodeling process– I am extremely grateful for his relaxedness!) Elegant Tile Works’ attention to detail is so reassuring; I know whenever their work is finished, it’s going to look perfect. And if it’s not, they notice, and fix it without hesitation.
I appreciate Keith’s design sense and trust him to help guide me in making decisions. He is always very informative, explains the process, and includes me in the layout process which I always really appreciate. I can be a little finicky and indecisive and have a difficult time articulating (or knowing) exactly what I want, and the three of them have been helpful in helping me complete my vision.

Keith and his crew recently completed the installation of approximately 700 sq. ft. of tile in our entry, kitchen, family room & guest bath.
From the day of the estimate to the day of completion, Keith & his crew were ALWAYS on time and here, as promised.
Keith helped us with the material selection which included the tile, grout color, backsplash and counter top. He also installed 3 new toilets and helped with the new island installation and, he plumbed everything as needed.
The total time for the tile work was 5 days (as promised) and the total remodel time was 3 weeks, which was so fast we couldn’t believe it.
Keiths attention to detail is amazing and we will definitely hire him again for future projects.

Keith the owner of Elegant Tile works gave us a favorable bid to gut and redo a small 5 by 9 bathroom– shower, floor, and plumbing. He let us do the demo to save on the cost. We didn’t have a lot of our own ideas Keith acted like a general contractor for us helping us pick out what would look best and be best for the room. He did some plumbing that involved moving a toilet and installed specialty shower and sink fixtures. He also set three cabinets. His crew was very friendly, careful and cleaned up after the days work ended. All of his work especially his tile work is flawless and I will use him in the future on other tile jobs.

Keith and his crew just finished up two tile jobs for my bathroom remodels. Keith came out and provided a free estimate along with recommendations for different install options that would fit our budget. He didn’t pressure us into any one method, simply stated the pros and cons, the cost and let us decide. He had no problems with us sourcing and providing our own tile and simply coming in to do the install. He was able to handle last minute changes in the scope of work and let us know about any extra cost it would entail. Additionally he was able to work around any stupid mistakes i made when doing the prep work.
I had no problems leaving Keith and Brandon alone to do their work, they always locked up when they left. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again for another job.

I was on a job where Keith and his crew were installing a tile tub surround. There were a couple of problems with the wall surfaces. The team took extra care to ensure that the finished product accounted for those problems. The job looked good, of course. But I was most impressed with their ability and determination to solve problems. I’ll certainly recommend them in the future.

I worked with Keith at Elegant Tile Works on two tile projects.
One was a straight forward small bathroom job (two small bathroom floors) for a condo in Aptos, CA and the other was a larger flooring project with a mosaic border for a residential kitchen in Los Altos, CA.
Keith was extremely responsive to both initial requests for a quote and quickly came out to measure and provide labor estimates for both projects.
Once we picked the tile we wanted to use, Keith helped us determine the best layout given the dimensions of the rooms and the design we had chosen.
Keith shows up on time and he and his team (Brandon) are very fast and efficient workers.
They are careful about making sure they contain the dust from their project by covering up things before they start.
Their tile layout was perfect and the installation went smoothly.
Since they use cement board on top of existing wood floor board the final tile installation comes out a little higher than the existing floor was. This means that any doors which had low clearance before will need to be trimmed and you’ll need to think through how to handle the transitions between the new floor and any existing floors that connect to it. They helped us with both these aspects as well.
The project was finished within the time frame and budget that was quoted.
The floors look awesome and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.
Keith also offers tile sealing services so you can keep that grout looking shiny and new.
