can’t believe how ridiculous this company is. Up until a couple of months ago, I checked the website to make an appointment for a massage. At this time, both the Cranston and Canton, MA locations were listed. Well low and behold the CAnton, MA business field so the Cranston, RI is now supposidly under new management because they are no longer affiliated with CAnton, MA. Isn’t it ironic that they are no longer affiliated? Gee, could that be because they no longer want to honor the gift certiicates that they sold and used the funds to try to keep their CAnton spa afloat? What a pathetic excuse for a company!!! I would hightly recommend not purchasing gift certificates to the Cranston location because I am sure in no time at all that spa will fail as well!!! Especially when you phone twice and there is no manager on either time. When you request to speak to the owner, you get transferred to a mailbox that is full and will not accept messages. You phone and explain and get transferred to the manager’s voicemail and that is too full to accept messages. I find this very unproffesional and I really think that they should honor their commitments… especailly since their website still refers to Élan Salon and Day Spa. If they are now Élan Design, why does their website still reference the name of the company that they are no longer affiliated with?

You can’t get much worse than a spa that lets you book appointments online, sends you a confirmation email, sends you a second confirmation, and then turns out to be CLOSED after you drive 40 minutes to get there. All the clerk at the store next door would say was«They left. They just packed up and left.» The number has been disconnected and the Rhode Island branch says they are no longer affiliated.

wow, if anyone is contemplating going here… don’t.they do mis-schedule regularly because the appointments are taken at the Cranston location. they could care less about you in Canton or Natick. the manager, Cassandra is a chronic, pathetic liar, so she is not to be believed… The owner, Elise, is a spoiled brat who only cares about what goes in her pocket. she will tell her employees to cut down a clients time in order to fit more clients in on a sat. don’t ever book on Sats. She thinks she has class because she wears a large diamond. but really is so low class. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere

I decided to try Élan yesterday as an alternative to my esthetican in Braintree. It cost me $ 77 for an underarm & brazillan wax, which is $ 5 more than what I would pay for an eyebrow/lip, underarm & brazillian wax at my normal«spa.» I was willing to try it out & pay the extra money for convenience, Canton is closer than Braintree is. I walked into their«waiting area» & told the receptionist I was there for my 5 oclock appt. I used the restroom & their last bit of toilet paper they had. I told the receptionist the tp was all gone & she said«ok, thank you» and carried on painting her nails, instead of changing it. The facility is large, it was like a maze to get to the waxing room. The esthetician was very nice & made it a comfortable experience. I wasn’t crazy about the wax used, it wasn’t strip wax but it wasn’t the great blue wax I’m used to either. My underarm wax was good, I’m happy with it, other than the fact i had to pay $ 22 for it, a little too expensive…$ 8 more than I normally pay. The brazilian wax I am not happy with. As I said the esthetician was great I really liked her, I would have continued going back to Élan, but my brazilian just really sucks. haha. I paid $ 55, $ 15 more than I normally would, to have all the hair removed… It’s definitly not all gone. WTF. Unfortunetly I didn’t realize until I had already left, and it’s really not worth me going back. I thought someone that had been waxing for over 20 years would know how to do a proper waxing job. Oh well, I won’t be back to Élan for any waxing, and certainly not for anything else after reading the rest of these reviews.

I’ve given Élan about 3 chances and they’ve failed me every time, so I’m confident in this review. The first few times I went there, I received good service. Way too expensive, but I knew that going in. Then things started to go very far downhill. First I made an appointment to get some highlights. I received a call the day before, from the stylist who was calling from her house. They put me on her schedule for the next day, but there were 2 problems. 1 — she didn’t work that day and 2 — they gave me an appointment before the salon even opened. Could I reschedule? I made another appointment with her. That was a mistake on my part, because she did a TERRIBLE job on the highlights. She actually dropped the bleach on my hair and I ended up with splotchy patches. — I couldn’t wear my hair down for a month. Then 10 weeks later I made an appointment for 4pm. I showed up at 3:50, gave them my name and the girl just stared at me. I didn’t have an appointment in their system. Strange, because I called and made the appointment and the confirmed it. So the receptionist went into the back room and came back out and said they’d have to reschedule. What? No one in that entire salon could have honored the appointment I made? I turned around and walked out. They are overpriced, do a terrible job on anything other than a simple cut, and don’t seem to have their scheduling down yet. Customer service is non-existant. Save yourself the headache and go anywhere else.

Blah. I had a massage/body wrap and facial scheduled and I went with a friend who was getting a body wrap and pedicure. Upon first arriving in the waiting area… unimpressed. There was a huddle of employees gossiping around the reception desk and complaining about clients. Now I get that everyone has something to grumble about when it comes to their jobs… but don’t do it in front of the customers! Maintain a level of decorum and professionalism please, especially if the purpose of your business is to provide relaxing treatments. On to the treatments themselves… the massage portion of the wrap was so-so. I asked for more pressure on occasion because it felt like someone was just sort of skimming their hands lightly over my skin as opposed to massaging. The wrap itself was very relaxing though. The esthetician doing my facial was very friendly… and very chatty. Of course you expect to converse somewhat, but she kept going on and on and took some of the relaxtion out of the facial. The results post-facial were okay… it didn’t really seem like too much beyond what I might have done at home. So the services were mediocre at best. For a spa/salon outside of the Boston with some space, their waiting area was also uncomfortable and univiting. The obviously gossiping staff was unimpressive. I will say this, I had to reschedule my appointment a number of times between myself and my friend and the woman on the phone was very helpful… but that’s not enough for me to warrant a repeat visit.

Another review inspired me to write a review. First, it is decorated more like a Salon than a Spa… you don’t get that super relaxed serene environment feel. Secondly, I had a facial that actually hurt. Now I’ve had extractions before at the spa I used to go to(Golden Touch, which, sadly closed)… this hurt. And my face was red and blotchy when I got out and the next day I broke out. The only reason I’m giving it two stars and not one is because the young(perhaps too young and so inexperienced) lady who did the facial was über nice. Also, you can sign up to get text messages when they have openings or deals, which I will never use since I will never go back.

The star you see above is coming from someone who has never experienced a service here. So why do I get to Unilocal about it… let me explain. I had a 4:30 facial scheduled for today. I arrive at 4:21 exactly and the entire salon has been closed down. I asked a store nearby if she knew anything about it and she responded«oh they pack up and leave if it gets slow and Mondays are usually slow.» Why oh why did you give me a 4:30 appointment(that by the way I scheduled at 10AM this morning) if no one was going to be there??/ Did you forget you had a client at 4:30? How completely unprofessional!!! With an apology from them, I may go back to actually see if this is a decent establishment or not!
