We came across this store while shopping around for flooring. We were surprised at the huge selection. Upon entering we were greeted by a nice outgoing woman (forgot her name… lol)…and later met with John who was very knowledgeable and experienced with different types of hardwood flooring. We decided on a purchase of natural sepele and will soon have our contractor install it! Can’t wait!

We had Brazilian cherry hardwood floors installed in several rooms years back by I.D.N. They did such an incredible job that we hired them again to do our latest remodeling.
We decided to remove the tile we had in the entry and hall and continue the Brazilian cherry wood throughout the house. John and his crew of workers did an outstanding job, I am very pleased with their work. Rafael was the main worker I dealt with on a daily basis and he was great, understanding, and nice. He gave us several suggestions and was attentive to his work.
Definitely will recommend I.D.N. for hardwood floors!

I had a flood in the house and needed to replace flooring to match already existing flooring throughout the house. Although I shopped around, John, the owner, was the only one who was able to find the exact match from a vendor back east and he ordered it for me. His workers matched the coloring so that you don’t even know that the floors were done at different times. IDN was reliable and followed through on everything they said. When I had an issue, they were quick to address it and fix it. This is the second job I had IDN do. They did my living room and needed to match the entry way which was over 20 years old. They did a perfect job.
I appreciate that they showed up when they said they were coming and kept me in the loop as to how long the job would take. I plan to use IDN for any flooring issues I have. They are worth the money!!! Unilocal lists me as San Jose but actually we live in Chatsworth.

I had an emergency flooring problem and got a refinishing quote from a company I had done business with before. They seemed to think it was an insurance claim and gave me a ridiculous quote for refinishing. I called John who I had also used before. He came out in 2 days and sent his guys to start the work 2 days after that. He is replacing the entire kitchen floor for less than the refinishers wanted to refinish the 25 year old floor. Additionally, he is just so nice to deal with. He constantly tells me how much he appreciates my business, so I am surprised by other Unilocalers that had a different experience. I would highly recommend him for new wood flooring. His prices are reasonable and his selection is fantastic. He is also very knowledgable about flooring.

IDN did a great job installing hardwood in three rooms and about 40 stairs. We hired them again to do another room. They were fast, efficient, reasonably priced and the floors look great.

I was very disappointed with the customer service provided by the owner of IDN Hardwood and Carpet Superstore. While the owner was very «nice» in our initial meeting before signing the contract, when we were in final negotiations, his verbal price quote jumped several thousand dollars higher. Moreover, once his men started working on our home, he became hard to reach, classless and difficult to work with. He knew we were working on a tight time frame and assured us that there would be no hold ups with our installation. However, every single day, his men arrived late and the entire job was delayed multiple days for no apparent reason. I confronted the owner who in turn treated with disrespect. I informed him that I cannot wait around for two extra hours in the morning for his men to arrive in the morning because I also have a job that I’m expected to be at. He replied that he thought «I didn’t you have a job» because I was pregnant. His response was nonsensical and ultimately I preferred that he only speak with my husband about the status of the job. In addition to the delays, unnecessary attitude and unprofessional manner, he left nail holes in all of our baseboards. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

A lot to choose from BUT I got a verbal quote on sq. ft. price and when he came to the house he changed the price by $ 1.00 a sq ft. YIKES Not a way to get my business.
Went elsewhere!

We would like to compliment the owner & entire staff of IDN. All aspects of the business transaction were handled in a pleasant and professional manner.
We shopped all the local flooring stores, big box chains and with a limited budget thought we would have to settle with laminate. But our friends who had recently had wood floors & carpet installed recommended we check out IDN before ordering. We spoke with John and advised him of our needs, family, dogs and most important… BUDGET. — John & Shaun worked with us to coordinate the sale & installation. With John’s years of experience he was extremely helpful in designing and choosing the right flooring for us based on our needs and was able get us wood floors all while keeping our price point in mind.
The installers were top notch. They were on time, hardworking, neat, clean and very polite. Installation was completed within the agreed upon timeframe Honestly the crew should be commended for being an outstanding reflection of IDN’s commtment to total customer satisfaction.
Thanks IDN, we will certainly share our experience with our family & friends.

Very dissapointing on call backs and service after you’ve paid for the floor.
Calls aren’t returned and that’s after paying over 11,000.00. They made us feel like they were doing us a favor. Bad news.

After looking at several places including big stores like Home Depot, we narrowed it down to this place because they had a particular tile that we wanted for our first bathroom. It was at least 3 times more expensive than what you would find at Home Depot yet was still relatively cheaper than its neighboring tile places.
But if you consider how they treat their customers, at the end of the day, it’s not worth it. The way they talk to you is like they are doing you a favor instead of being thankful for your business. Very rude, curt, and shady. They have no follow-​up whatsoever. You have to keep calling to check in if your tiles came in yet.
And when we had to order a couple of extra boxes of tiles, they charged us $ 120 extra each for delivery even though the tiles were packaged and delivered together. Imagine paying $ 240 more to a business you wish you did not support.
As always, just keep in mind, vote with your money. The neighboring tile places may be more expensive, but they had better customer service. To be specific, we are referring to Westside Tile with 3.5 stars from 37 reviews here on Unilocal.
Sometimes, you may have to settle with what they have at Home Depot or Lowe’s, but you have customer expectations already and it reflects the price you are paying.

John’s great – very cool guy. He gave me a terrific price on some excellent hardwood flooring and he couldn’t have been more helpful throughout the process. He did absolutely everything he said he would, and that’s so important – integrity and follow-​through are EVERYTHING.
In another deal I found the flooring for a little less at another supplier, and he happily met the price. I always go to John first. But ask for John – no one else there can make a decision. Btw, I’m a builder… I know of what I speak.

IDN installed my engineered wood floors throughout the house two years ago. The owner and workers were very courteous and helpful, and the floors turned out beautifully.
What is most commendable, however, is the professional manner in which IDN’s work was backed up (not once, but twice) when my new floors were damaged by leaks from beneath the slab. The first incident (thought caused by a cracked air conditioning condensation line) occurred during the one-​year warranty period, and without charge damaged floorboards were removed and replaced. The workers did a fine job and made the floor look as good as new.
Unfortunately, more damage occurred the following year when a broken sprinkler line caused another leak beneath the slab. Although my year’s warranty had expired, the owner made sure that repairs were made at minimal cost – charging me only for the cost of the flooring and nothing for the three days of labor that was required.
Once again, the workmanship was excellent, and the floors look beautiful.
The kind of service IDN supplies –particularly the way it backs up its product – is all too rare today. This is indeed as good as it gets!

We have been wanting to replace our aging carpet for some time now and finally decided to «go for it!» Our first contact for an estimate was IDN in Canoga Park. After having the owner, John, in our home we knew we really liked him for his honesty, integrity and professional nature. We felt we could entrust our home to his care.
Needless to say, when we arrived home the evening the project was complete, we were so delighted to see our new hardwood flooring. It literally brought our home to life. The workmanship was outstanding. Everything was completed as specified and in a very timely manner.
We would most definitely recommend with highest commendations IDN for your flooring improvements.

the issue is more that if a person promises something even if it was verbally and then doesn’t follow through on it then there is an issue.
and then if it isn’t communicated early enough and hidden and then just ignored and belittled then that is even worse.
almost every other contractor i worked with followed through on what was promised and did EVEN MORE than needed when there were other decisions or problems that came up along the way. and there was no need to get angry or argue with anyone about it.
if details don’t matter to you then that is your perogative. IDN talked on and on about their quality but then agreed to our requests but did not follow through. after multiple requests to follow through all i got was 30 minutes of hot air and then i just wanted them out of my house after that.

First off let me say that our floors look beautiful. The workers were clean and very polite– as was the owner, John.
We used John back in 2008 to install hardwood on the bottom story of our home and had no problems at all. Hence the reason we called him again to compete the stairs and the second story. John’s price was reasonable (the stairs were very expensive but we think they are expensive no matter what). We agreed on a price and all work to be done– including installing a piece of black carpet in the garage. Work started on time and ended the same. However, there were a few unfinished items– the hallway lacked the final piece of baseboard and the carpet in the garage was not done.
Here started my problems. It took two weeks and 10 phone calls to finally get the baseboard complete. John did not agree that it should be done but finally agreed. Took another week to get it complete but it finally happened.
The carpet on the other hand was a nightmare. My husband and I made at least another 15 phone calls to get this done. In the mean time I had already made two payments on the work (yes John was paid already and still had not completed the job as it was done with a credit card offered from his store). FINALLY his guys came out last night to put the carpet in the garage, and IT WAS TAN NOT BLACK!!!
Needless to say we are just going to have to live with it because I simply do not have copious amounts of extra time to make numberous phone calls to get the work done that I ALREADY PAID FOR!!!
I would caution you to NOT use John unless you can hold some money back so that you can get his attention. Despite him being very polite, he seems to not care about his clients AFTER they pay.
This is so unfortunate because it was nothing like my first experience and the work is very good. I just find it terribly unprofessional to have to make 25 phone calls to get my job finished.
Consider yourself warned should you use this company.

Ask for John, great guy. He was the lowest in price and his crew was great. We shopped many places and they won our business. Can’t go wrong with IDN Flooring.

My husband and I went to at least 6 other stores looking for a good price on high quality laminate flooring, and this store beat all of them, hands down! The owner was absolutely fantastic, and their selection was huge! We installed ourselves, so we just paid for the materials to cover 1200 sqft, which included the flooring and the under-​layment. We now have beautiful floors in our new home, and since we only spent about $ 2500, we were able to use our savings to redo our yards! I’m so happy, and I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

I searched for months all over the San Fernando Valley to find the best selection and prices on hardwood flooring. Finally, I found that when I went to IDN Hardwood in Canoga Park. John is very professional, and patient. He offered me the best price handsdown. When it came to installation his team was awesome! They did an excellent job, and were very clean and careful not to break things in my home. I would highly recommend IDN Hardwood. I love my floors!
