Chatsworth Pointe

The area is fine, and my studio apartment is spacious and comfortable. I have never had any problems with the neighbors; in fact, everyone here has been very congenial since I moved in in April. Lots of people have dogs here and there’s a nice little common area to bring your pet for potty time, and they’ve provided poop bags & trash can.
I’ve had good experiences with maintenance requests as well. When Paco came over to fix my kitchen sink, he was very kind and professional. He noticed that my kitchen light did a funny flickering thing, and fixed it later that same day.
The best part of living here is how helpful Nicole has been. She has a small side business doing pet care, and she is great. One example is whenI texted her from work to see if she could take care of my dog THAT DAY, as my sister was going in for emergency surgery way out in Ventura. Not only did Nicole reply in a timely fashion and take care of my fur baby that night, but she followed up with me soon after to make sure my little sister was OK. Having Nicole be an on-​site property manager, professional pet care worker, and such a kind, efficient person is such a nice perk!

We lived here for over a year and half. The turn over rate with employees is ridiculous. We had to speak to new employees about past inquiries for problems with our unit. Our air condition stopped working in the middle of summer and it was replaced quickly, that we appreciated. However, the shower was falling apart, the cupboard doors wouldn’t close right. The carpet was not new when we moved in, and there were spots everywhere in the bedrooms. We had a problem with our fridge leaking, they never once followed up on a repair. The fan on our stove had no ventilation, it wasn’t installed correctly it just circulated the air into the cupboard! The power would go out any time we used the bathroom and hallway lights together, sparks came down from the hallway lights more than once!!! Our screens were bent and damaged, we asked for replacements and never received any. We brought most of these issues up the first month… my daughters bedroom window didn’t have a lock, we were on the first floor easily accessible by anyone walking by. Our bicycle was stolen off our patio because the gates were always open, the parking lot gate was frequently damaged or held open with a rock. The pool was not cleaned frequently enough, my daughters eyes burned 6 out of seven days she go swimming. One time during a holiday weekend we were at the pool and a third party hire was at the pool to repair the bars at the pool (the ones used to pull you out) he plugged in his power tool and then into several extension cords laid across the wet floor across the pool where children are swimming in!!! We were not pleased with this complex. The price is higher than other apartments near by, and you only get more problems for the money.

The community has changed. It’s cleaner and quieter. It’s a super nice place to live. I am not embarrassed to say I live here. Paco the maintenance is awesome and the manager is super helpful and kind. The building could use a new color but that’s just small. I really like living here. I see the bad reviews and they are old compared to all of the changes that have been made now. Sweet place to live and I love the interior of my apartment. It’s so cute! If you are thinking of living here just come by and you will see why you should.

I’m very happy here. I have been here for since 2008. I have seen managers come and go, but Nicole has really stepped it up. She has started neighborhood watch, which has been very helpful to the community, and she is quick to call back when needed. Nicole hooked it up on the carpet guy, and my apartment looks brand new. She is the BEST!
Paco is AMAZING at taking care of the grounds and the maintenance. I completely trust him, and I am very comfortable with him going into my apartment when I am not home. He is quick to respond to any emergency, and always willing to take the time to explain what is needed, or what he needed to do. I honestly think the 2 of them compliment each other nice, and they make a great team. They are working on cleaning up the grounds, and getting the people who don’t belong out. I have never seen the property look as nice as it does. Paco and Rosa have don’t a great job with that.
I feel very safe here and I think that the «Drug» comments are so old, why even talk about it. That problem was done and solved many moons ago prior to Nicole ever being here, so its not fair to put it on her. She has done nothing but bring the apartment community back together like it was when I first moved her. I am VERY happy, and don’t plan on going anytime soon.

Have had lived here for two years and left one year ago. I’m a little surprised why this apartment gets so bad review. I didn’t have any problems living here. The maintaince was quick and every staff working here is very nice. But I do know that my neighbor was robbed once when no one was at home. The only pain was about leaving. We paid a month rent (more than a thousand) in order to get rid of our one year lease. I took a lot of time to sublease and this apartment was hot and easy to lease out. However, I was noticed by the manager later that I was not able to sublease because the lease didn’t allow it. Tried to negociate but they seemed to like my money better… After a few days, I saw an Ad of this apartment on cragslist where I told them where I advertised…
I should say just be careful when you sign the lease and read carefully don’t fall in any holes in there.

Thanks Mandy for your reply but I need to clearify something as well.
The manager (while we lived there) didn’t know that our lease didn’t allow to sublet until I had found a lot of candidates. She admitted her mistake and explained that they often allowed subletting but just several owners didn’t. I don’t know why Mandy (current manager or owner?) would reply me like this. Maybe they’ve changed their rules or maybe the manager I dealed with was not familiar with the renting rules… I’m not complaining. Afterall, this is also my responsiblity to know the lease well. The management just need to know better about their company’s policy to avoid any confusion.
Afterall, this is a good apartment, plenty of covered parking, quiet at most times, very nice neighborhood (an old couple who used to live the opposite of mine had lived there for more than 7 years), very friendly cleaning and maintaince staffs and helpful manager… Thanks.

After an armed robbery took place over 2 weeks ago directly under my apartment in a car port, management still has not fixed the broken gates that allowed the gunman to enter or fixed the broken security cameras that should have caught the act in progress. Even after the police came to the complex and stated to the office manager on duty at the time that they were able to just walk right in, NOTHING has been done since. 2 of my neighbors have broken their leases just to get out of this place. Even a strong adult man being held at gun point on a Friday night is not enough for them to do anything. I guess since they don’t have to worry about being here at night since they don’t live here, they don’t feel an urgency to have the situation rectified. Shame on you Davlyn and Chatsworth Pointe. God forbid that had been a woman or child down there at the same time when that man was able to walk through the gate.

If I could change my rating of this complex and Davlyn Investment Properties as a zero I would. Yet if you are a drug addict, dealer, smoker, mentally deranged, pervert, into domestic violence or a hoarder = you’ve found your new home. They allow ANYONE into their properties.
My family and I have lived here for over a year now and it went from bad to worse to us giving a thirty day notice and paying close to $ 300 more a month then our original lease. Therefore if you are considering any Davlyn Properties I would SERIOUSLY reconsider. If we could investigate the turnaround within the lets say 20 units around us I’d say that at least 19 of those 20 tenants have moved out since we moved in for probably the same following reasons that we are moving out.
When we first moved in we were above a nice family but within weeks they moved out and were replace by two chain smoking crackheads that tried to literally smoke us out as well as burn our balcony and plants. My granddaughter and little dog would come over to me and smell like an ashtray. Even getting our carpets cleaned on a regular basis didn’t help. Paranoid they called the police on us numerous times where the police finally wouldn’t even come out. They ended up having so much domestic violence, robbing each other as well as the complex then moving out without the other knowing. During this time my daughter and I suffered tremendously from our asthma and much of our furniture, rugs and plants were ruined from their cigarette smoke and the charcoal BB Q’s fire. Management nor corporate NEVER did anything to help us or protect us from these neighbors. When management did respond (months later) they simply told us that the complex is a smoking complex and that they can’t control what a tenant does in their home. Knowing this they couldn’t even offer us another apartment within the complex nor one of their other properties because they all have the same policy. *OMG, no lie and after all this drama from our prior below neighbors… they moved in a very kind family of which are both chain smokers, BOTTOM LINE = they don’t care about their tenants. Which I know from the managers mouth when we talked about our lease as no joke they were trying to have us renew it even after letting us out of it due to all the issues. Manager said that they don’t care they just want their $$ and what the fair market value currently is. «I’d like to know whoever creates this Fair Market Value for Davlyns Properties because I’m sure they’d figure that everyone of Davlyns tenants should be paying much less if they were to visit one of the properties».
It’s such a shame as I could go on forever but let me simply share a list of issues that you Unilocalers should be aware of when considering Davlyn:
–ANYONE can get an apartment as long as they pay (we’ve experienced a peeping Tom who we also witnessed scoring drugs (to date) within our complex as well as beating his girlfriend in front of my 3 year old granddaughter and daughter with the metal end of a dog leash. He was arrested at least three times that we know of while he lived here. We still see him and many dealers in and outside the complex.
–Management nor corporate care about their tenants
–Maintenance are the only people who care but when management doesn’t care your going to have broken 1) pool (there’s an actual sign posted about not swimming in the pool if you’ve had active Diarrhea, really…), 2) jacuzzi (constantly filthy as well as too hot/​too cold, jets broke), 3) gates (our electronic entrance gate has been down for weeks) 4) security lights (have never worked at our gate entrance to the complex since we’ve moved in), 5) Fire Safety door (it’s been broke in our hallway around four — five months since they let a mentally ill guy move in who broke it off. He ended up being committed after the police took him away after about three weeks of living here, 6) Laundry facilities rarely all work and after numerous vandalizing get locked down early and often
–They allow any dogs (pit bulls & shepherds even though it’s against their policy) but no one cleans their dogs feces up so imagine how many flies & the smell.
–Our living situation has been so bad living here that my daughter wrote a college final about it.
–Back in June we received a rent increase after only living here 10 months, went immediately into the managers office who said she’d talk to corporate, never got back to us. Then I contacted corporate directly and corporate finally got back to us about it October 10^th (3 ½ months later). Charged us back rent for the month to month fee’s and told us we had to give 30 days notice when if they would have got back to me in June we would have given our 30 day notice back then, moved out and saved money.
*Bottom line this Davlyn investment company should be looked into and corrections should be made. Human beings don’t deserve to be baited and switched into this type of liv

I lived here for almost a year and a half, and the only thing I was happy with was LEAVING.
It took 4 attempts to have them replace my air-​conditioner unit during the hottest time of 2011, and they only did it because I told them my dog was going to die of heat stroke or something. When I was lucky enough to have the unit replaced, they gave me the loudest and most inefficient wall unit available. It sounded like a chainsaw, no joke and it was pointless asking for a different, perhaps NEW unit because they just ignored that request.
Most of the neighbors are just weird and unfriendly and you can tell they don’t like being there either. The «controlled access» is a joke because the front gate doesn’t even shut and the people are too lazy to close it behind them. It’s run by a corporation, and they don’t care about you or your comfort, they just want the money.
The nicest person on staff is the maintenance lady who can be seen hosing down the sidewalk and cleaning. She’s great and always has a smile on her face.
