Cannon Beach Ecola Creek Lodge

This place really cares about you! They did me. There was a lack of communication from Expedia to Ecola Creek which slowed down the refund of my money. I was looking forward to staying over with them but plans changed. It happens. Thank you, Sue, for being so efficient and kind by refunding my money under «good faith»! I’ll definitely check out the lodge next year!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay for a night, as I did, or for a vacation rental. ECL has an old time ambiance from when you first drive up, and it should; its well over 100 years old, but has all the modern amenities to meet your needs.
The check in staff was very friendly and welcoming. My room was the smallest in the inn but till had nice queen bed, chairs, microwave, coffee pot, and TV. WIFI is free. The bathroom was normal hotel size and well lit. The full tub/​shower enclosure was spotless; no mold in the corners as is seen in some other hotels in this price range. I’ve stayed in many hotels, and this place is the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in, and it’s a pet friendly place.
Right outside my door was a table and chairs overlooking the koi pond and waterfall. The foliage around this entire lodge and walking paths has beautiful flowers of various kinds and smells. The feral rabbits that run free around the property add entertainment to the mix. I was on the first floor, but I believe some of the 2^nd level rooms have an ocean view.
The ocean is only 5 or 6 blocks away, and so is downtown Cannon Beach with a plethora of restaurants and shops.
If I’m ever passing through Cannon Beach again and need a place to stay, Ecola Creek Lodge is where I’ll go.
BTW: Ecola Creek Lodge is the least expensive lodging in Cannon Beach.

Absolutely loved staying at this place. It’s everything you would hope for in a romantic get away: Cute, cozy, comfortable, clean. The place is well maintained, and well stacked with blankets, towels, kitchen ware, etc. The location was excellent, walking distance to restaurant, the beach and Ecola park.

We stayed one night in room 7. It was spotless!!! And had a gas fireplace in a timer! For the price i would never stay anywhere else! They have games to take to your room and movie rentals available in the office. Great customer service! And the cutest bunnies!

Stay in room 12 if possible! It is completely renovated and it literally the newest room at the lodge.
My family and I stayed here for one night and we were more than impressed by the cleanliness and amenities of this place. Usually for small lodges near the seaside, we expected everything to be expensive and small, but the rooms here are fantastic. The room came with a 4 seated dining table, a couch, a plasma TV, a mini fridge, coffee maker as well as a MICROWAVE. The TV has tons of relevant channels from Disney to HBO to FOX etc. We were able to watch Back to the future during our stay and it was great :)
I recommend those ppl or families who want to avoid spending a lot of money on breakfast or meals to pack some snacks and store it in the fridge. My family brought croissants, smoked salmon from Costco and avocados and made ourselves some breakfast in the room before heading out to the seaside.
The room itself is spacious than the average motel 6 or hotel room. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone staying near cannon beach! It is also a close 15 minute walk to the downtown area.

Love this location as is close to amenities of CB (as well as the beach) but away from the hubbub of the Haystack Rock area. Very friendly & helpful staff– even made sure the jacket I forgot made it home safely. Clean and comfortable rooms. Never disappointed in this place.

I had a wonderful night in this hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed one night and were very comfy. The grounds were beautiful and the bunnies running around were adorable. The hotel was a quick 5 min walk to the beach, shops, & restaurants! The room was smaller but perfect for two. Very romantic.

We kind of spur of the moment found this place for a during the week getaway. We wanted something moderately priced, but nice. We got all that and more.
We could walk to downtown Cannon Beach, and walk to the beach. It was a relaxing trip, so we didn’t use the car while we were there at all. It was quiet, clean, and I’m pretty sure no two rooms are the same. It doesn’t have up to date tv’s, etc, but it didn’t detract from the comfort of the room at all. It has an old classic feel. The receptionist was friendly, and helpful, and they have beach towels/​blankets to take down to the beach on top of room towels. They have pet rooms, and movies you can check out to watch during your stay. We will definitely be back soon!

Stayed here for a two night getaway. We had room 5, in the older section of the property. Very large room, about the size of a one bedroom apartment. Had a full kitchen, which we used to cook breakfast and lunch each day.
Very clean and well kept. Not cosmetically perfect, but very cozy.
Very short walk to downtown and the beach, and etc. Very friendly staff. A great value for the price.
Keep in mind that there is NO air conditioning. This wasn’t a problem during our stay, but in the middle of July it might be for some.
You’ll be happy as long as you don’t expect the plush perfection of a $ 500 per night resort. We’ll definitely come back.

Good value in a town that has few of these. This is an older property but it is clean, a short walk from town and the beach, and has very nice grounds. We had a minor problem which we brought to the attention of the person at the desk when we checked out. Later that evening, after we arrived home, we got a call from the manager, Charlie. He had already issued us a generous credit that was more than fair compensation for the issue we had. Great customer service. Been here before and will go back again.

So the good parts about this lodge are the feral bunnies on the grounds (I know, whaat??) that let you get like two feet away before hopping off, and the fact that it is kept somewhat nice and clean.
Bad parts? First of all, the sofa bed is atrocious. I mean, all pull out beds suck to a certain extent but this one felt like sleeping on naked springs. Secondly, the bathroom renovations were done really shoddily/​cheaply. The caulking/​paneling/​painting/​plumbing/​etc. all sucks. It’s really hard to enjoy a place when you don’t want to use the loo. The tub wasn’t even draining properly… wtf???
Oh also, there were a bunch of random hairs throughout the room (kinda gross, no?)
So TLDR; the lodge is decent enough, it’s not unlivable, but it definitely feels like corners were cut during the construction. I wouldn’t go back here simply because there are so many options of inns on Cannon Beach and this one didn’t earn «returning status.»

From start to finish we loved Ecola Creek Lodge! The bonus was the gorgeous 58 degree weather — a rarity in late November — but our accommodations were perfect for a two-​night getaway. We got a dog-​friendly room and loved the basket of dog supplies waiting for us. The easy access to town and to the beach were awesome. You can walk anywhere you need to go, if the weather is conducive. I enjoyed rediscovering Cannon Beach. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and hidden gems to keep you busy for quite a while. Or just relax in your cozy and quiet room. It was so comfortable we slept better there than we do at home. Can’t wait to go back!

This place was PERFECT for our family (Me, my husband, my mom, 2 year old, 3 month old)! It’s been such a wonderful experience, we extended our stay and we are DEFINITELY COMING BACK!
Date: Early September! When booking the room, they had EXCELLENT service! Since the fall season was coming in a few days, they honored the Fall price even though it was still summer! I didn’t even ask for that price! That’s seriously wonderful customer service.
Our room: We stayed in the Queen suite with Kitchen, Fireplace, and living room (with sofabed). Each room is a little different with character and history! It is the size of a small apartment! The kitchen was also stocked with everything that we needed! The bathroom even had make up removal towels! Our room welcomed us with so many towels that were decorated as cute animals! My 2 yr old daughter loved it!
Customer Service: The people working in the office were so warm, friendly and very helpful. The office has cookies, drinks, board games, books, and movies you can borrow! They even have a washer & dryer– another temptation to extend our stay!
Cleanliness: I am a germaphobe, But our room was so clean! I was also amazed at how the housecleaning staff did a great job at cleaning our room while we were gone and remade a bunch of cute towel animals and put away all our dishes that were in the sink!
Location: Downtown Cannon beach is just a walk away, but far enough to be away from the business of the town. The location is quiet and serene. It is right off the freeway. Lumberyard was very close to our hotel! Further down, you’ll see the whale statue and town is right there!
Prices: WOW. the prices were SO GREAT. I really can’t believe how affordable our room was!
Really thankful for Ecola Creek Lodge! I found so much rest & relaxation that I desperately needed!

After a 4 day stay in Portland, we headed to our next destination, the Oregon Coast. After some researching on the internet, we booked a two night stay at The Ecola Creek Lodge in Cannon Beach. This hotel is located right off Highway 101 (a beautiful, scenic drive to the beach). There is a bit of traffic noise, depending on your room’s location, but it’s pretty quiet for the most part. Don’t forget to bring a jackets and pants. It was pretty cool while we were there! (in July)
Ecola Creek Lodge is believed to be located on the very spot where Lewis and Clark’s expedition set up camp. Ecola was the Indian word for whale, and Clark named the stream Ecola Creek. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The office has coffee, tea, and cookies and an awesome, DVD rental collection with super new movies, to some classic films. Outside, the lodge looks cabin and rustic, quite appropriate for its location. We had Room 1, which was a one bedroom with pull out sleeper couch. Each room has a fireplace (a nice touch… we were cold!) flat panel tv, kitchen with lots of kitchen essentials, microwave, stove, fridge, sink, and a huge master bedroom. The décor is a little dated, but clean and usable. There wasn’t A/​C, but with the cool temperatures, you just need to open your window for a nice breeze. I loved the La Fresh makeup towelettes! There is free wifi; it was slow at times, but still nice to have during our stay. The beds were super comfy and our parents didn’t mind sleeping on the couch. (They insisted!)
The Ecola Creek Lodge is within walking distance to downtown Cannon Beach. You should probably drive so you don’t have to worry about finding parking. There’s lots of shops, and restaurants, and a short walk to beautiful Cannon Beach. There are plenty of nature trails for the hiking enthusiasts, so there’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for groceries, there’s a Safeway 15 minutes away by car. The staff here is super nice and helpful. I felt welcomed and relaxed during my stay in Cannon Beach. Hopefully I’ll return to this quiet beach town!

This is a home away from home. We stayed for our wedding 7÷20−7÷22 2012 in room 8 the turret room. It was really cute and charming. We had all of our wedding party stay here and each room was decorated differant and they all had charm from what I saw. The staff was friendly and accomedated us with an early check in which was very kind (since I needed to steam my wedding dress). It was adorable and we enjoyed our stay. The bunnies running around the grounds added a lot of charm. I dont want anyone to get confused by my review because I like to provide honest feedback. If you are looking for something on the beach or a resort this isnt where you want to stay no spa services etc. If you want a home away from home a steps away from the beach and friendly staff then come and stay here the fireplaces in the rooms give it a very warm touch. Thank you!

I’ve stayed at Ecola Creek Lodge three times at different times of the year. The grounds are well maintained, the rooms are clean and inviting and I love that the location is very close to downtown Cannon Beach.
I have arrived late, after check-​in, and always appreciate the key being in the usual spot for me upon my arrival. :)
The rooms with kitchenettes are stocked with everything you could possibly need for making your own breakfast/​dinner.
Bathrooms are always well-​stocked and clean as well as all towels and linens.
Free WiFi is a great bonus!

I went to Cannon Beach with a group of close to 20 people plus 2 weiner dogs. We had 3 suites, not next to each other. 1 of which is dog friendly (i.e. no kitchen)
We were there for 2 nights. The second day, the toilet of 1 of the suites was clogged or something. I’m not sure what happened but it’s unusable, and they said the staff told them that they can’t use the shower either. I didn’t investigate further, however, the staff told them that they can just use the toilet from the other suites in the party. WTH, right?
Whether it’s because it’s Dec 28 or their regular plumber is on vacation, I don’t think it’s right for a hotel to ask their guest to go to a different room to use the bathroom.
The only reason why I’m not superly upset is because:
1. The 2 dogs with us did not stay in the dog friendly room and despite their policy of charging $ 150 for «cleaning» fee for having a dog in the non dog-​friendly room, and a couple of warning, they didn’t charge us the $ 150.
2. I’m sure, or at least hoping, that if the lodge was not completely full, my friends would have been given a different suite.
3. They might not have been able to find an available plumber.
4. it’s not my suite that has broken toilet and everyone’s more than welcome to barge into my suite to use the bathroom.
It’s still wrong of them, though, to ask my friends to just use the bathrooms from other suites. It doesn’t help that while we were there, it rained on and off, it was super windy, and it even hailed a few times!
Besides that incident, I quite like this place. It’s pretty inexpensive, rooms are large, and it’s within walking distance to downtown although there’s not really much ocean view unless you stayed on the 2^nd floor like I did.
