Schooner’s Cove Inn & Hotel

Location is perfect, right on the beach and downtow. Views from the decks are gorgeous. Did notice less upkeep on the property, used to see staff hosing down the walkways, straightening beach chairs and cleaning the grills on a daily basis. Never saw anyone this trip and the heap of dirt in the lawn from a mole grew on a daily basis. Rooms are clean, beds are okay, have the most uncomfortable sofas I have ever attempted to sit on. If you can’t climb stairs, don’t stay here! I was on the 2^nd floor, 31 stairs for access. I was only 3 months post op from knee replacement and counted the stairs one day, stopped counting at 220, my knee hurts. Onsite laundry facilities, again up 17 stairs. I come during the off season when rates are more reasonable.

WONDERFUL hotel — right on the beach at Cannon. Right in the middle, walking distance to downtown, café, bakery, ice cream, grocery — all within 1 – 3 minutes. 10 mins from Ecola State Park, 15 – 20 min walk to Haystack. There is a’river’ that comes right out in front of the hotel so it’s super safe, shallow for kids to play in without worrying about the waves carrying them out. My son even got to float on his boogie board on the mild current of the ‘river.’
We had a small kitchen that was well stocked, a small fridge, very very clean room and an amazing view to look at each day/​night.

Very friendly staff at check-​in. Beautiful location right on the beach with easy access. Room was very clean with kitchenette and fireplace. Bed was comfy. Grass area with chairs and bbqs for the guests’ use. Short walk to downtown and art galleries.
No elevator, no air conditioning, no pets, no smoking. You certain don’t need the air conditioning, but if you are like me and want air at night, you’d have to leave the patio sliding door unlocked and open. Bathroom was small with not enough counter space.
We’d definitely come back. We were here for the Spring Unveiling. It’s much ado about nothing. Several nice galleries in town, but you could see them anytime. Lots of appropriate beach themes. I’d love to be here during the sand castle building contest.

Enjoyed a nice stay at the Schooner. Room is nicely remodeled and clean, ocean view is gorgeous, and the shower is fabulous and the price was perfect for the end of April. The King size bed was very comfortable. Also, a great little coffee shop right across the street. Rain or shine, this is a great place and priced well.

What a great little place! The hotel is neat and clean, the rooms are ocean front with beautiful views and everything you need in town is within easy walking distance. My only complaint is that we only booked one night instead of two!

My husband I stayed at Schooners in late February and it was wonderful! The kitchenette was perfect and we picked a room on the first floor which literally opens right to the beach and has a separate room for the bed. The bed was super soft and comfortable. The location could not be more ideal! It is right next door to all the shops, restaurants and souvenir stores; you can walk everywhere.
The only complaint I would have is that the couch was very hard and uncomfortable. It kind of made it pointless to even have a living area with a couch so hard. That is literally the only downside to our entire stay.

My husband and I recently returned from a 2 night stay at Schooners Cove. We were there from Monday, March 2-​Wednesday, March 4^th.
We requested an upper floor room which we received. We were fully aware that there would be stairs and no elevator. That wasn’t too bad but we didn’t realize the ice machine was also downstairs. Oh well, not that big of a deal.
The room itself was fine. We booked the Sloop room which had a semi private area for the bed with a tv and a separate living area with kitchenette and another tv. I brought my Apple TV so we could watch movies via HBO, Showtime, Netflix, etc…
The hotel is on the beach and you have a great view of the ocean from the room.
The only drawback of the hotel, and this is a BIG drawback, is that both the bed and couch were hard. I mean HARD! You would go to cuddle on the couch and it was like there was plywood under very thin, hard cushions. You almost bounced off the couch when you sat down. There is another chair to sit in and that one was even worse, if that’s possible. The bed was also incredibly hard.
As others have stated, the hotel is in a great location, you can walk everywhere. Because we were there in the off season everything was empty and we felt as if we almost had the whole town to ourselves.
I love Cannon Beach and will be back but won’t be staying at Schooners Cove again. It’s a nice, clean hotel, right on the beach, big rooms but it just isn’t comfortable. I guess this wouldn’t be a problem if you aren’t in your room much but for us it was just too hard.

This was a wonderful getaway spot! It was two steps to the sand and just a short walk around the corner for shopping and dining. The room was clean, the bed was cozy and our room was literally steps from the beach. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this hotel to our friends. Fantastic!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I visited in the winter, and would never go during the summers due to the huge price flux but during the off season the price is well in line with what you would expect to get. During the winter the coastal vibe is a lot more relaxed and slow paced. This hotel is in the heart of the downtown area within walking distance to everything from bars to cafes and of course the beach.
Customer service was great. I spoke to 3 different people during my reservation process including the manager and they were all helpful and pleasant. They gave us a nice gift for our anniversary when I only mentioned it in passing.
I followed trip advisor tips on room choices and requested to stay in room 55 a double Captain, upstairs, north side which indeed had the best view of the water. The Captains room has an actual king size bedroom with a door and the living room space has a queen bed in front of the tv/​fireplace which we ended up using the entire time since the bedroom didn’t have the beach/​romantic vibe that we came for. Bed was comfortable firm with some give to it. The bedroom itself looked like a basic motel room just a bed and tv and it was stuffy– the ceiling fan above the bed was extremely loud like it was broken which was the only suggestion we wrote on their comment card. I would stay in a smaller room next time since we didn’t utilize that whole extra space but this room is perfect for visiting with children.
The full kitchen space was awesome, it was stocked with pots, pans, plates, bowls and silverware and even a dishwasher. A large college full size refrigerator is great for families who don’t want to blow the budget eating out every day. The fireplace was a really nice touch– although it didn’t warm the room at all and has a timer that turned itself off after a while. The wall heaters kept the room plenty warm.
Bathroom was a great size and updated nicely. It was clean and functional. The bed and bathroom are deciding factors for me in a hotel room and although this bathroom was grand like Las Vegas style it was very modern condo looking. Only downside was the bathroom door kept popping open on it’s own I suppose due to wind & air pressure from the ocean breeze so I think the knob could stand to be tightened.
The balcony was nice but there’s no privacy. We were in the second to the last room of the building but I looked and even the last room has no balcony privacy just a half wall between it and the room next to it. They put locks on the window to keep it from being opened from the outside which made me feel better about sleeping next to an open balcony door– but it only allowed the door to be open about 2 inches which barely let any of the ocean breeze in. It would be much nicer if they’d put a full wall between the balconies.
Keep in mind that no matter which floor you stay on they all have stairs and no elevator. Parking garage is under the building so it appears to be 3 stories but only the top 2 floors are rooms so pack light! I chose top floor because past guests say the first floor is louder hearing people walk above you and also because the grass area on the first floor is community property to other guests so it can get loud.
Wifi is free but the signal is extremely weak we were unable to use it. There is a tv and dvd player provided in the room.
I loved that it was NOT pet friendly hotel– people with pets tend to go nose blind just like smokers. Those of us without dogs and inside cats can definitely tell that a cat peed or a wet dog was in the room and that is why I chose this hotel over the pet friendly ones in the area. It was also nice not to have to listen to any howling from doggies locked inside while their humans explored the beach.
Hot tub on the middle floor is an enclosed space so it’s great for us in the winter as well. Call ahead and reserve your half hour time before arriving to ensure you get the time you want.
Beach access was perfect. I enjoyed walking the beach early morning. But be careful of that toxic foam all over that is killing the sea birds we counted about 16 dead birds on the beach directly behind the hotel which was kind of a downer. =/​
Overall very nice hotel and I will definitely return again if the prices are right.

Last year we loved it so much we came back this year! Last year we had larger room on second floor. Yet enjoyed the smaller room on first floor even more as there are steps from your balcony to the beautiful grass area with BarBQ. So we enjoyed easy access to the grill and made chicken.

Rooms were nice, clean, but could be a little cleaner. Views are amazing and you can’t beat being right on the beach, everything is walkable! The front desk was very friendly, helpful and informative. We really enjoyed the fireplace and falling asleep to the sounds of the waves. Some families can get really loud and obnoxious on the grass area in front of the rooms, but that’s not really the hotels fault. Overall would stay again.

Great place right on the beach. Right downtown. No worries with parking. Super clean. Will be back.

Great location! If you are expecting the ritz then this hotel is not for you. With that said, the staff is friendly and the room was very clean. It was nice having a kitchen and separate living space. There were grills outside on the lawn for guests and a great fish market two blocks away. I would absolutely stay here again.

My husband and I celebrated our 20^th anniversary here. Beautiful views and very spacious. Steps from the beach with a nice grassy area to sunbathe or just enjoy the views. Wifi worked great. About a 15 minute walk to Haystack Rock.

I really liked this hotel and would stay here again. It was clean and quiet, the staff was friendly, and we had an awesome view of the ocean. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is nice.
My boyfriend and I stayed in a Skipper’s Room on the 2^nd floor. The counter tops and other surfaces in the bathroom are up to date and the bed was big and comfortable. The fridge in the kitchenette area was large for being a mini fridge, and the kitchenette was well stocked with plates, glasses, and silverware.
One of my favorite things was the fireplace in the room. It was controlled by a thermostat so the fire would come on by itself whenever the room got cooler. I enjoyed having all the lights off at night and just having the fire to light the room. My other favorite thing was the balcony outside of our room that overlooked the ocean. The hotel is right on the shore and it’s easy to get to the beach. I liked keeping the balcony door open at night so I could listen to the ocean. It was cloudy and rainy for most of our stay, but I’d love to come back again when it’s sunny and warmer.
The hot tub was great as well — it overlooked the ocean and you get to have it to yourself because it’s reserved for 30 minutes at a time.
The staff was very nice. My boyfriend and I were coming from Seattle and left after work, so we arrived after their office closed at 10pm. I called them the day of to let them know, and they made sure we were able to get our room keys. The process was very easy and they included a map and drew a path from the office to our hotel room so we didn’t have to search for it late at night.
I think the only thing I didn’t like was the cover on the bed. It was a light comforter between two flat sheets, but there wasn’t anything to fasten the two flat sheets to each other or to fasten them to the comforter. Because of this, the comforter was easily exposed when moving the cover. I’m assuming it’s not washed with every change in guests like the sheets are, so I wish it would have stayed covered more easily.
Other things to take note of: the free internet was fast and easy to use; the entrance to guest rooms are on the outside of the hotel (there are no inner hallways); there is no elevator, but the stairs weren’t a problem at all; the hotel is located near the center of the town so it’s easy to walk to everything.
I enjoyed Cannon Beach and enjoyed staying at this hotel. I recommend it for anyone who wants to visit Cannon Beach.

We stayed at Schooner’s cove on a recent trip down the PNW coast, and it was just in a beautiful spot. It’s right downtown so you can walk around and enjoy all of the shops, restaurants, and the brewery that are right there. It’s RIGHT on the beach! You walk out the door and you’re on the beach. Can’t beat that. It’s gorgeous. Goonies rocks are a short walk down the beach.
The room itself was simple and nice. We had a «2 Bedroom» which had 2 beds but really only one actual bedroom. The other «bedroom» was a little area with a bed and no door for privacy. It was fine for our needs. Small bathroom. It was very clean and had a nice little stocked kitchen and sitting area too, with sliding doors that look out to the beach. Free and easy parking onsite. It wasn’t very expensive either, especially for the beautiful atmosphere.
If you are looking to take advantage of the hot tub, make sure you book when you arrive. We were only here for one night and couldn’t get a hot tub reservation unfortunately– was all booked by the time we arrived.

Lovely suites right on the ocean and near all the shops. Bed is super comfortable. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We were there for our anniversary and there were chocolates and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we checked in. Will stay here again!

Perfect! The location is great — right on the water. The town is super cute and the room was nice. This isn’t the lap of luxury, but it’s a great spot. We collected some wood on the beach and had a campfire right outside our room, it was a fantastic evening! If you book a double room, remember to look behind the main room door for the second bedroom. I kinda felt like a dork when I went to the front office to complain that our reservation was wrong! Apparently, it happens to people rather often :)

A great value with amenities.
I picked this place based on Trip Advisor (so sue me) reviews, and it fit within the budget. That being said, Schooners Cove was the ONLY place that would accomodate my need to stay only one night. The others had two night minimum stays, which didn’t work with our itinerary this trip.
When I opened the door to the room (on the beach side), I was very surprised to see granite countertops, very clean room, with nice little touches including fridge, and fireplace. These items alone would definitely help me revisit if (or when) we return through this area again.
The beach access is VERY easy, with nice landscaping between you and the ocean for those short times you won’t be on the sand taking pictures of Haystack Rock, or the lighthouse, which are very short walks. Awesome.
You are very close to «town» with nice boutique shops, but then there’s the best coffee shop I’d ever been to, which is just across the street. Please visit Insomnia, and gorge yourself on their badass pastries, and try the Real Carmel Latte. By far the best carmel latte (or any latte for that matter) I had ever tasted. Be sure to visit.
Schooners Cove is a great value, with not one let-​down during our visit. All questions and recommendations were immediate and honestly answered without the fake «try this place» that some hotel/​motels do. Give this place a try, it won’t let you down.

When we stay in Cannon Beach and we’re not renting a house for the hordes of in laws, this is where we stay.
I like the ocean front rooms with the views, and I like that they had lounge chairs to lie in and stare at the ocean and stars at night. (take a blanket).
Last time we stayed in a double sloop, and it was just right for a couple with a kid or two. We had a fabulous view of the water out our sliding glass door, and a little deck. NIce!
I think it’s a pretty good value for Cannon Beach, and we would stay there again.
