Unfortunate long walk in the snow to the restaurant and back. They don’t keep up with the shoveling and salting on the sidewalks. Anyway, my boyfriend, now husband is not one to complain about food. If he does, you know there is a problem. It was a Friday night and it was Lent, and he had just proposed !!! He chose the scallops and I decided to as well. He took the first bite, Chewed for several seconds and immediately spit out his food into his napkin. I asked what was wrong. He said and I quote, «you know when you go to the zoo, and you go into the reptile building, and it smells so terrible… That’s what it taste like in my mouth.» I just couldn’t believe this. My husband complaining? The fact that he was so descriptive? The fact that he could pinpoint exactly what he is tasting? I had to try it for myself. DANG, was he ever right… We both sent our meals back… The staff was not happy with us. He ended up having to break the lent rule and ordered beef. I order salmon. No complaints, but, nothing to rave about either. Cool rustic antler chandeliers if you like that kinda thing.

I recently spent 4 days in the Bristol Harbour area of the Finger Lakes. The countryside is beautiful and fortunately for the weather was too. We had dinner twice at the lodge and that resulted in two totally different experiences. The first night we dined on the patio with a «to die for» view. Our waitress was helpful and very friendly. Our service was excellent as was the food. I had salmon cooked exactly as I requested topped with a tasty blueberry sauce. Other meals included crab cake(my own are better) and pork osso buco which was said to be delicious. A good time was had by all! The second time there were 8 of us and we sat again on the patio. A little sprinkle of rain this time but still beautiful. After ordering wine we got down to the business of ordering our entrees. The waitress highly recommend the beef tips and my husband ordered them. They were dry, tasteless and had no sauce whatsoever on them. The waitress never asked if he liked them which should have been obvious since he didn’t eat them. Then after giving her a credit card for the check, she brought it back and put it in front on me to be signed. Her rudeness was deliberate and appalling. The other meals were satisfactory but I doubt we would return there. Food and service both uneven. On a side note we played the golf course as well and it was a great time!
