Bristol Harbour Resort

Bristol Harbour is a beautiful resort. I visited the business for a wedding. It is a gorgeous place to get married. When you walk out to the back of the building, you get an amazing view of the hills and the Canandaigua Lake. The wedding I went to was in December, so it was pretty cold, but Bristol Harbour did its best to keep everybody warm. They had plastic tarps that could be dropped to block some wind and 4 big heaters hanging from the ceiling of the outdoor patio where the ceremony was held. Everything was set up perfectly and the waitstaff were very professional.
They also have a few cottages next to the resort building that I did not look into. But this was such a beautiful place when I visited for the wedding that I would definitely think about coming back to try a weekend getaway in one of the cottages.

Beautiful location, rustic décor beautiful view. Food was decent but overpriced. Im giving it three stars because the walls in the hotel are PAPER thin. There was a wedding going on and they all came back to their rooms at 10pm. They talked loudly till after midnight. Then I could hear the couple next door SNORING all night.

This resort gets 3 stars only for the setting and view. It really is stunning. But do yourself a favor: Eat before you get here. Then enjoy an after-​dinner drink on the patio and soak it in.
The food would get 1 star based on our visit yesterday. The joint looks so classy and then so underwhelms. Caesar salads were large, but made almost entirely of the lighter, whitish bitter romaine section. My husband got 4 croutons (I shared with him.) No offer of fresh-​ground pepper. Warm rolls, with only enough scandalously whipped butter for 2 people at a 4-​top; had to ask for more. Dairy shortages in Ontario County?
Outrageous prices too. $ 30 for a NY Strip special that was nothing but a greasy paddle of gristle and fat. The puny steak knife provided (Walmart quality — blade was a half inch at most) just annoyed the meat. Server didn’t even ask why I left half of mine on the plate.
My husband was the only one to order well — his salmon dish with tabbouleh was very tasty, he said. But it too was overpriced considering the tiny portion.
My in-​laws’ fish fry special was served with the fish only lukewarm. The promised Yukon gold french fries sounded great, but were barely fried and also served barely warm. With one drink each, we’re talking $ 150 for a meal that wouldn’t pass muster at Ponderosa. No, we didn’t stay for dessert.

Great service! Great view!!! & Fabulous Food!!! There was nothing I didn’t dislike about this place. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits & the lamb chops! Delish! The vanilla bean cheesecake was to die for!

Really liked the rustic-​cabin feel to the rooms. There is a fireplace in the corner and a balcony too!!! Bathroom are this cool rock-​slate design… I dig it!
What I don’t care for is the long walk in the snow to the restaurant and back. They don’t keep up with the shoveling and salting on the sidewalks.
Also the parking lot was NOT well lit by our hotel building overlooking the water. Scary in the winter. Watch for black ice!
Lastly we got engaged here! Yay!

I love BH! We have never stayed there, but eat there often. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Service is great and so is the food. Our favorite meals here are breakfast and lunch. Waitstaff is very attentive without being annoying. They keep your drinks refilled and dirty dishes cleared away. You can dine inside or out on the patio, which overlooks the lake and hills. Lovely place to dine or just have a glass of wine. Beautiful spot. The only negative I’ve experienced was while dining on the patio last summer, there were a few bees that kept buzzing by our table. I don’t know what if anything they can do to prevent that. Menu changes occasionally and you can review it online before going. They also have special occasion meals like Thanksgiving and Mothers Day. Check it out! you’ll be happy you did!

We have never stayed at the resort but are planning to in the future. Over the last two years we have eaten twice at the restaurant. The food is okay, the veggie burger was mushy and salad was not made with fresh local produce. The menu is exactly the same as when we were here two years ago. To me this shows no creativity from the chef or management. It’s summer now and fresh local produce is plentiful, be creative and purchase some. Organic is huge, advertise that you use local fresh organic foods. Make an agreement with local farmers to use there meat and produce. This is the age of food awareness. Get with the program. Maybe it is time to hire a new chef. One who has fresh ideas and will change the menu from time to time.

My fiancé’s sister recently had her wedding here. From the cabins we stayed in to the views to the food and venue, everything was nicely done. I even had lunch in the restaurant the day of the wedding and it was very good, although a little exprensive (which I expected). Will definitely try and return there one day!

We have been going to Bristol Harbor for the last 6 summers. The ambiance of the lake views coupled with surrounding farm country is perfect for complete relaxation. There is tons to do with the Corning Glass Museum close by (1 hour) and Rochester with its funky art section and much more. The only reason It doesn’t get 5 stars is that the rooms could use some updating… BUT…other than that Bristol Harbor is Nirvana. The staff is very accommodating and I wouldn’t give up our summer visit for anything.

I’m giving this place 5 stars for the condos properties and not for their restaurant, because if that was the case they would get only 1… but I digress…
Bristol Harbour manages private condos just down the road from the main hotel and we ended up renting a 2 bedroom, 1 ½ bath duplex. It was exactly what we needed.
The condo portion of the property has a private beach for the residents and their guests to use and aboat docking area that you can pay to use on a daily rate. They also have canoes and kayaks that guests can use as well.
The condo was well furnished and clean and had all the amenities of home. We loved the fact that we had a full kitchen and a terrace with a grill and outdoor seating to eat at.
Will definitely book here again.

Didn’t try the food, but a beautiful getaway on the southwestern side of Canandaigua Lake. Grab a beer at the bar and head for an Adirondack chair outside in the back and soak up the views. Then stop at Heron Hill’s Ingle Vineyard for a wine tasting afterwards. A great day trip!

we attended a wedding here only, didn’t stay the night but heard the per night prices are pretty steep. it’s definitely in the country — takes some driving through beautiful countryside, past cute farm houses to arrive — and has an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake, forest, and trees. in terms of wedding venue it was decent — ceremony was held on the grassy hill (a little of an incline but beautiful scenery) with the open bar and hors d’oeuvres served on the patio. the hot hors d’oeuvres were tasty, delicious-​looking, and well-​paced (crab cakes, quiche, large shrimp, spinach phyllo triangles) but the cold munchies weren’t very popular and seemed like we needed more bread/​crackers to enjoy the hummus, smoked salmon, grilled veggies, etc.
we went inside the banquet room for dinner and enjoyed the fish (so tender, moist, and flaky) but heard the chicken was plain and beef a little dry. the potatoes looked delicious but didn’t live up to expectations — plain and not crisp on the outside. service was friendly by some but we thought it was strange that after cake cutting they left it up next to the stage and the coffees and teas were placed on the side instead of being served.
overall the scenery was beautiful but service and food were unfortunately hit or miss. it was also a little awkward to have strangers that were eating at the restaurant sitting so close to the reception area… so might be a good spot for golfing, receiving spa treatments, dining at the restaurant, and just escaping the hustle bustle of city life but not sure if i’d recommend this as a wedding spot.
