Social Security Administration Office

I am 7 months pregnant and get severely dehydrated. They would not let me wait inside with my glass of WATER. Being pregnant is a disability and this is horrible treatment.

I needed a social security card replacement. I first went to the Fontaine with my application and license in tow… Bad idea… I have an hour lunch break but after waiting 45 minutes, I had to leave before even being seen… Since I was unable to schedule an appointment at an office (the SSA does not make appointments for replacement cards), I decided to researched other offices. Today, I went to the Campbell office and was in and out within 15 minutes!!! Such a relief. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I even made it back to work in time to have my lunch!

So I went to get my SSN number! Jennifer who was sitting in the front desk helped me get my ticket. and I just had to wait for 45 minz and got it done. They were very approachable and had a good chat with Jennifer! She is really hard working. Thanks for the quick help guys!

If you have a choice, do not go to this office. They are incredibly inept and the person I worked with never returned a phone call after calling every day for a week.
I needed to submit a letter and a form to the office from my doctor, but even though she both mailed it and faxed it, they claim they never got it. That is just unbelievable.
I will now be working with the downtown office. Hopefully that will go better.

I never thought I’d like going to a government office, but Santa Cruz is different. They were quick and friendly!

I have to say, my first impression was not good. The queue was long and to be honest, d office looks rather sad n beat up. However, despite d outward appearances, d security guard at d door was efficient in moving people along. She took d time to explain to people in line that she’s letting those with appointments in n not letting anyone cut in line. Thought that was considerate of her. And once you are at d counter, d officer is very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I was in n out of there in less than 30mins (no appointment was made prior). For a government office, i think that’s pretty good. Well done and thank you!

We all hate going to the social security office and the dmv. The wait is always horrible there is nothing to do but stare at a wall, read a book or play phone games as your day wastes away. Which is why it’s so much more bearable when the customer service representative treats you like a human being and not just another number. Thank you so so so much to Kevin who helped me out today! I was in and out the door in a timely manner and Kevin helped me out with a smile on his face, he even laughed at my lame jokes, what a trooper!
Remember guys, the clerks are people too, don’t be an asshole, they are doing their job the best they can!

You cannot make an appointment for a name change. Minus one star.
On Monday 10am arrival, I waited 50 minutes in line and 1 hour in the waiting room and they only made it through 2 of 7 name change number A#. I had a meeting do I couldn’t wait longer than 2 hours. This place had 1 to 3 windows open at any given point. — Minus two stars.
On Monday afternoon I called to see if there is a better or worse time but the woman on the phone was very non committal.
On Tuesday I arrived at 2:15, we started at a pace slightly faster than Mondays pace, but I was 11 numbers behind and window 5 is the only name changer. Approx 15 minutes per number versus Mondays 20. They actually had 4 windows open which was nice for the non A people. Then at 3 o clock suddenly the folks from cube land behind the closed door started calling numbers and we were ripping through them at 3 – 5 minutes each. The moral of the story? Show up just before closing.

So technically the 5-​stars are for the SECOND time I went. I needed to change my name on my social security card. There is a kiosk to the left when you walk in where you sign in and take a number. There is only one window that deals with social security cards from what I can tell (the stand up window all the way to the left).
My first visit was horrible… I went on Friday after reading on their website that Fridays tended to be less busy. I had never been to this office before. I had 20+ people in front of me! I waited for an hour and a half and only about 5 people moved. I had to leave, go to a half our meeting in Cupertino, and on my drive back to my office I quickly did the math in my head and thought there may be a chance my number hadn’t been called yet. I drove all the way back and missed it by ONE! So. That was 2.5 hours for about 20 people to move through.
I went again the following Monday. Walked in at 12:30 and there was only one person in front of me! I was all prepared to hunker down and wait. I was in and out in 15 minutes.
Tips:
You can pre-​fill out forms online.
You can leave and come back (some other Social Security Offices don’t let you do this!)
If you grab a number before they officially close for the day, they HAVE to see you before the end of the day, so don’t worry about walking in a few moments before the close time posted.

This is the worst ever!!! Been here for so kook looking wait!!! Place smells really bad!!! Slow workers!!! My line is D — AND IT ID NOT EVEN MOVING!!!

Was in the office in the afternoon, did not take more then 5 mins wait and then 5 mins at the counter. 10 mins total. Great experience. I was expecting a lot worse.

There is a kiosk on your left when you walk in. Self check in and grab your ticket number.
Its pretty small, but the wait is not bad, waited probably 15−20min just to get my last name changed. Came in about 30 min after it was open and it was already pretty much packed. So the earlier the better.

I always recommend people to this location regardless of where they live, because the speed makes up for whatever drive you make. I’ve never had to wait longer than 45 minutes to be seen — which might sound like a long time, but anywhere else it’s over an hour. Other locations also say it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get a new social security card, but here it’s always two weeks or less!
Everyone from the security guard to the workers are always helpful, and surprisingly never get impatient with some people who disregard signs and ask the same questions over and over again.

3 visits later… i think i’m done? or rather… i hope i am!!! btw, if you ever have to call the 800 number they promote, don’t expect good answers. they take forever too, and give bad info. grrr
so my only lingering question… why do they insist on proof of marriage, when they already have proof of divorce in hand? seriously. don’t you have to be married to get divorced? ah… government at it’s finest. logic people. try using some.
oh, and if you ever want to know where all the crazies hang out… this is the place.

Been waiting since 11:23am. Awful. Smelt bad. Went to change my name on my SS card. The lady that assisted me at the counter for my name change was great, but they really need to think of a more systematic streamlined way to get people in and out of there in a timely matter.
Waited 1 hr and 45 minutes.

They have two armed guards here, is that strange for Campbell unless it really goes down. the office opens earlier than 9, at least when I came it did.
Make sure you have your ID with you because gangs of people were turned away because they didnt have it, and the security guard at the door will make you go around the pole in the middle, even though there is no one in line. Cracks me up watching it, strange when you do it, but smile when your done
wait time is 10 – 40 minutes usually. I can say good service, and I was taken care of quickly.

The university I will be transferring to in the fall sent an email explaining that I had to get my U.S. citizenship verified before I could receive any sort of financial aid. Found this SSA office on Unilocal with good reviews, and thank Jehovah I did.
I was in and out in 15 minutes, and the woman I spoke with was very prompt without being unfriendly.
Only if the DMV could take after this office…

I LOVE this Social Security Administration Office! It’s one of the slower ones around the area, so there’s usually a very small wait, if any. I’ve never made an appointment to get my services done at this location and I have been in and out super quick.
The only time I ran into a wait for more than 20 minutes was during lunchtime. But I guess it was pretty dumb to go to any place like this during your lunch hour given that everyone and their mother’s will be doing the same.

I needed a new Social Security card, and it couldn’t have been easier. I downloaded the from from the website, filled it in and headed to this office on a weekday afternoon. Upon arrival, I input the reason for my visit into the check-​in kiosk and got my number. There was one other person waiting and I was called almost immediately. My paperwork was processed and I was back in my car exactly four minutes after I parked.
Short and sweet!

Arrived at 11:45 am and finished at 12:03 pm :) There is a touch screen check in kiosk which gives you a ticket. Seating area is what you would expect, hard plastic chairs. There is a digital sign with the numbers, when ready to be seen. I appreciated this. The person who completed my application for a replacement card was cordial, quick, and smiled.
I have only one other SS office to compare this too (the big one in SF) and this one is not crowded and has a parking lot.
