I been a patient of Dr Monahan’s for about 5 years now. He is a very nice Doctor. He’s always taking care of me and im glad my surgery went perfect on my right eye but now I’m in for my left eye and I’m in there every 5 to 6 weeks for treatment but I don’t mind. For the past year i think a little longer then that but I been getting the best customer service from his new receptionist I believe her name is Jessica (The young lady in the front desk) takes her time to help the patients the right way. She’s always happy & friendly not like a older lady that worked there before. I was there 2 weeks ago and I’m glad the older lady that worked in the front is gone because she had a very nasty personality and attitude towards patients and staff. Very rude! She gave this office a bad review. The staff in the back are great as well. now I can give this office a five star they deserve. Thank you again for caring for your patients.

Dr. Ward and Dr. Dessouki seem to be nice doctors. WARNNING concerning a procedure
DR, WARD does called scleral buckling for the managment of degenerative myopia.
Get a second opinion because other retainlist and Stanford eye doctors have told me this procedure is harmful to the eye. I had it done because i put full trust in doctors. The doctors at
Retina Diagnostic Center seem nice and i think they believe in what they are doing but it might not be provened or approved by their fellow doctors.

My boyfriend and I were referred to Dr. Chow by our optometrist as he was having great difficulty with his sight on his right eye. To complicate matters, he did not have insurance. We made an initial appointment to the Disalvo office in San Jose with Dr. Chow.
We were very anxious given the condition of his right eye and the fact that he had no insurance. We talked with Dr. Chow and explained his condition and situation. After extensive testing/​examination, Dr. Chow very patiently listened and took the time and explained to us his diagnosis, his treatment and payment options which put us at ease and gave us a sense that we could trust him. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and we really appreciated that he listened and thoroughly responded to all of our questions and concerns.
We have since received two treatments with him (at his other office in Campbell) with good progress and we are very encouraged for a full recovery. Based on our experience, we highly recommend Dr. Chow and would not hesitate to recommend his services to family and friends.
The staff was also very accommodating with scheduling and pleasant which we appreciated.

I have been going to Dr. Ward for almost two years now after being recommended to him by my current eye doctor. Having both lattice degeneration and high myopia, I have had two preventative laser surgery treatments by him with great results. Have never had any problems with wait times or the front desk, they are incredibly charming and kind individuals.
I am incredibly grateful to have found Dr. Ward, as he has helped me lots with my eye conditions. He is informative, well-​read and kind. I highly recommend him to anyone with a retinal condition.

I was refereed to Dr. Ward with regard to my degenerative myopia. Dr. Ward is good. Very knowledgeable even though he does push his surgical procedure (experimental) a bit, but is no doubt he’s an expert on DM. I don’t care for his office practice of overbooking. There is always a long wait, and he always hop between several patients at the same time. His office staff is not helpful (lazy is more like it). Dr. Ward said to set up a 6 month follow up apppt, his staff told me to call in 6 months. I asked if my insurance covers his procedure, he said his staff would find out, instead, she handed me a insurance code and told me to call my insurance, Really, you are so busy you can’t do your job?

I needed a simple procedure done and had to visit their office in Santa Cruz two times. Dr. Chen was really good and I give him 5 stars. Both visits took 1.5 hours. My total time spent with the Dr. was less than 10 minutes per visit. I’ve never had to wait around in a Dr. office for so long and think it’s rude and discourteous to treat customers/​patients that way. With that said, I give the office management 1 star, so averaging my rating, I give this business 3 stars. I highly recommend that the business owners invest in a business consultant to recommend fixing their office scheduling procedures.

Dr. Ward is great. I have learned a lot about degenerative myopia from him and have discussed the preventive surgery he specializes in with many patients. If you have high myopia that gets a little worse every year, I would recommend getting an evaluation with Dr. Ward!

I take no issue with the medical capabilities of Dr. Howard Chen. In fact, I think he is a great doctor. My problem is with their office practices. They have a tendency of overbooking patients. My first visit in the San Jose office resulted in a 60+ minute wait before I was seen. Mind you, I was early for my appointment. Second visit for a procedure resulted in a shorter, albeit, annoying wait of at least half an hour. Third time, I telephoned their San Jose office to reschedule a follow-​up appointment. The receptionist rescheduled me at their Bascom office at my request. I drove all the way from SF to find out I was not on their calendar. I left rather than wait several hours before I could be seen. I should have known something was up when I didn’t receive a confirmation call the day before my appointment. I’m sure most people are super busy like me so be sure to call and double-​check your appointment before going in. I was not the only person whose appointment was messed up that day. I overheard a family had driven all the way from Santa Cruz only to be turned away because their office had dropped the ball on something.

So glad to have been sent here. Went in with a detached retina (screw you HIPAA) and left a plan, went back, consult, and then vision restored!
And isn’t that what it’s all about?
The front desk staff is awesome. Friendly people – been joking with them about what kind of ice cream I get after I’m done. The various techs, and doctors are friendly too.
I assume that a place like this is where you find a lot of stressed out patients. You don’t go here for a new prescription for your contacts. You go here because another Dr said «oh crap, you need to go here.» That kind of stress is like a lead balloon on the mood of an office. These guys seem to handle that in stride and give patients – by my observation in the waiting room – the care and attention they need to get through it and back to life.
Note to people walking outside. When you cross the exit for the parking area here, turn your head and look for approaching cars. There’s a Retinal Diagnostic Center here so, uh, there might be some people behind the wheel who are still recovering from having their eyes dilated or are otherwise not seeing as well as they could/​should. Sure, they probably shouldn’t be driving, but sheesh,

I want to say this is the worst, rudest and unprofessional practice I have ever met. Dr Dessouki I hope is more polite to his wife than his patients. He was rude to me and too many patients double booking every 5 minutes. I’m a nurse and that is not good. Days were good before Dr Dessouiki arrived.
